"Young Master, I have sent the file you requested via email," said a man sitting respectfully beside the driver's seat.
Hearing the man's words, Jeffry turned his attention to the laptop screen.
Earlier, in the rush of urgency, he had ordered a thorough investigation into his identity. Now, he found himself inhabiting the body of a man named Jeffry Nelson, the only nephew of Peter Nelson, the founder and largest shareholder of Nelson Company.
As documented in the files he studied, Jeffry was an orphan—his mother, Adeline Nelson, had perished along with his father in a tragic car accident that shook the entire Nelson family.
The "Nelson family" wasn't just a mere name in the real world but a key entity in a film he had watched with his colleague.
Now, as if living the storyline himself, he had become Jeffry Nelson from the film, even resembling the actor who played the character.
However, this wasn't a lighthearted romantic comedy. The film was a tense thriller about a zombie outbreak titled *World Liar*, where the pandemic would unfold in two months.
Realizing the urgency of the situation, he knew he needed to prepare adequately while searching for a way to return to his reality.
"And regarding the person who brought you to the hospital, I will meet with them to express our thanks and offer compensation," said the young man as he glanced toward the passenger seat.
"Do it," Jeffry responded curtly, still focused on reviewing the information on his laptop.
"Leon, gather all details on my assets and send them to me by tomorrow at the latest," he added authoritatively.
"Understood, young master."
...
"Over there, young master," Leon pointed to a familiar figure—a woman with wide, expressive eyes, a small, sweet nose, naturally red lips, and long, contrasting hair that matched the white cardigan she wore.
Katarina Aerinka, one of the supporting characters in *World Liar*. Though just a side character, Karina played a significant role in the film, portraying a brave and intelligent scientist.
Amid his tangled thoughts, he couldn't shake the fact that there were no scenes between Jeffry and Karina in the film. Was his memory faulty, or was there something he didn't know?
He turned to Leon, signaling, "Meet that woman, thank her, and offer compensation. I have matters to attend to," Jeffry ordered, turning away.
...
Karina savored every sip of her warm coffee, the inviting aroma enveloping her senses. In front of her sat a young man who appeared to be waiting patiently for something.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Leonardo, personal assistant to Mr. Jeffry, the person you saved from the car accident a week ago," said Leon politely, extending his hand.
"Karina," she replied warmly, accepting the handshake with a smile on her lips.
"I'm here to thank you for bringing him to the hospital. Mr. Jeffry won't forget your kindness."
"Shouldn't he be the one saying that himself?" Karina teased.
"Ah, my apologies. The young master is currently busy with urgent matters and couldn't thank you in person," Leon explained, attempting to ease her curiosity.
"Ah, I see," Karina murmured.
"And this is a token of our gratitude," Leon continued, handing her a brown envelope.
Karina carefully opened the envelope, her eyes lighting up as she saw the amount written inside, a bright smile instantly forming on her face.
"I graciously accept your thanks. Ah, Mr. Leon, aren't you going to order anything?"
"I'm afraid I have urgent work to attend to, so I must decline. That's all I have to convey. Goodbye," Leon said as he stood, maintaining his professional demeanor.
"You seem in a rush. Very well, goodbye," Karina said, watching as Leon walked away.
As Leon's steps faded into the distance, Karina returned her gaze to the check in her hands. Her smile remained, and only two things in this world made her smile—money and food. With this money, she could stock up on supplies.
From afar, Jeffry had been watching the entire exchange, an unconscious smile forming on his lips as he observed Karina's joyful reaction.
Upon leaving the lobby, Leon was startled to find his master sitting calmly on a corner sofa.
"Mr. Jeffry," Leon called softly, trying to capture his master's attention, who was still watching the woman he had just met.
Hearing the voice, Jeffry dropped his smile.
"I thought you had already left," Leon said cautiously.
Jeffry swiftly stood. "Let's go," he commanded, signaling Leon to follow him to their next destination.
