Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

I was waiting till the sound came back into the room. For a minute there was none and now I heard my father loud and clear.

"This powerpoint was amazing. Of course you can go but, on one condition. When you are back you have to clean your room."

Bea and I screamed out of excitement. "I can't find the words dad." My breath was going so fast that I couldn't talk. It felt so good that we could go to China. Still one week and 5 days and then Bea and I will sit on the plane to Shanghai. With that thought we said "goodnight" and went upstairs.

We screamed it out one last time and I made Bea's airbed ready so we could sleep.

While blowing the airbed up we put some music on Youtube. Ofcourse it was from Hao Yang. We were trying to sing along and that didn't work out well, but who cared it was false. Then when my parents came up to sleep we put the music off and went both to bed. We were tired from the day and the excitement that it had brought with it. We fell both asleep when I clicked the light out at my nightstand.

I woke up in bed, but when I tried to turn around there was something that prevented me from doing that. I turned my head and there was a man with black hair next to me, but I couldn't see his face. Still I knew who it was. I tried to scream, but there was no sound again. This can't be happening again.

I woke up again bathing in sweat. Luckily I didn't know how my dream ended. Bea was already by my side looking worried at me. "What happened? Did you have a bad dream?"

"Yes, but it's fine. Nothing to worry about, it was just a dream. I need some water."

"I will get it for you."

"Do you know where it is? Don't worry, I'll go for it."

"Oké, just be careful that you don't fall off the stairs."

I stood up and I was a little dizzy, but I regained my ballans fast. I went carefully off the stairs and when I came into the living room it was still dark. I looked at the clock on the videoplayer. It was not yet 5. Way too early to wake up and for sure during vacations.

I quickly went to the open kitchen and took the water bottle from the counter and took a glass out of the cabinet at the side. When I was drinking I heard the door going open to the living room. "Who is there?" I whispered.

"It's me." I heard Bea's voice coming from behind the corner.

"You scared me a bit."

"Who else could it be? The holly ghost?"

We couldn't keep our laughs in and sputtered it out. She had a point, but it was so unexpected that it was funny.

"I hope we didn't wake my parents. My dad would be angry if we did."

We went in silence back upstairs. Luckily we didn't wake anyone up or they did, but they fell back asleep.

Coming back into my room we went back to bed and we fell directly asleep since it was way too early to wake up already.

Later that morning we woke up. It was already 10, so time to wake up. Bea was still sleeping, so I let her be and went for a shower.

When I came back into my room she was awake. She looked at me from tip to toe. "Are you crazy? How could you be ready. It's just 11 and it's vacation."

"That's just one of my dads rules."

Bea looked strange at me and then she sighed. "Really it is vacation and still these rules must be in the working?"

"That's right, so if I was you I would be ready before 12."

"Those rules apply to me too?"

"C'mon out of the bed and shower. I'll be downstairs if you need me. Just yell till I hear you downstairs."

I left a puzzled Bea behind and went downstairs. My parents and my sister Angy were already awake. My dad looked at me and said, "those rules don't apply to Bea."

"I was just joking with her. She thought I meant it, so not my fault."

I couldn't keep my laughter in, but I felt a bit shitty about it.

"Oké, oké, I will apologize to her when she comes down."

A few moments later Bea came downstairs in a rush. "I am sorry Bea. It was just a joke." She looked a bit angry at me and then she laughed. "You will get your revenge later."

We both started laughing and I knew it was true. She would get revenge on me later.

At 1 my dad and I brought Bea back to the station. It was a silent ride. At the station there were not many people. The weather today was also runny, so yeah not many people were going to the sea or anything. That meant Bea could sit in peace at the train. I went with her to the platform and waved at her when she got on the train. "Come home safe. See you when we leave for China. Bye."

The way back home my dad asked, "So what are you going to do in China?"

We left the part of Hao Yang out of the powerpoint and I think he saw through it. Luckily we were allowed to go. Still I just answered in response to his question. "Just what you saw in the powerpoint, nothing else."

He looked at me scanning me to see if I was lying or not. My heart went faster and I hoped he didn't know how hard my heart was beating in my chest. "Don't worry I believe you."

I looked at my dad and saw he meant every word he said.
