The atmosphere took a rough turn as the cold wind escaped through the Frost Monarch's body like a violent hurricane, slowly freezing the surroundings while the ice crawled all around.
Those weapons intended to keep their target in place turned into ice before violently collapsing as the man stretched his body while the ice seemingly healed his injuries.
"That hurt like hell…are you perhaps ready for the consequences?" Spitting a mouthful of blood, the Frost Monarch spoke before cutting the distance in a single blink. A fist of fury drove toward Kang before lifting his body as if it was glued to the fist, then with a rough overhead, the Frost Monarch smashed Kang's body against the floor, leaving a massive hole as his target kept crashing until it stopped at the 5th floor.
Standing from his place as if nothing happened, Kang lifted his head before raising his middle finger toward the Frost Monarch causing him to crash down right next to where he stood.
"How?" Looking at Kang, the Frost Monarch suddenly asked feeling that something with terribly wrong with his opponent. No matter how much effort he put into his attacks, the other side just shrugged it off again and again. While he on the other side was sustaining injuries.
"You started calling me an A-ranked hunter despite having a lower record than mine. Then all of this damage and you are still fine. Never mind any of that, I'm sure I tore off your arm but it's right there."
"You are no human, Shepherd. You may look human, act human, and feel human, but your stamina, regeneration, mask, and cold personality tell otherwise. Don't tell me your abilities. Even we S-rankers have barely three abilities at most, the same goes for vampires."
"As the ones on the top, we certainly can differentiate humans from vampires. Still, you are not certainly a vampire either. All in all, you've never taken me seriously at all even though the Frozen Castle should have frozen your body by now, yet you are completely fine."
"So tell me who are you and what you are up to." Feeling no malice from Kang, the Frost Monarch retracted his ability before forming an ice throne nearby where he sat casually
"Congrats, you are close, but the less you know the better it feels. Take it as advice and don't ask again. The least I can tell you, is that I'm on your side. If you know what I mean."
"Now tell me, since when did vampires live in this world?" Pausing for a second to think, Kang changed his mind before continuing, "Never mind vampires, they can wait. Let's skip to our business right away."
"By my standards, you are indeed A-rank, and so am I. So tell me, who placed those ranking thresholds that hunters follow?" Pacing around slowly, Kang asked curiously while gripping one of the undamaged tables before sitting on it.
"It's the Hunter Council you disregarded completely, it's a surprise that you didn't get an invite yet despite being ranked 7th worldwide. You will naturally come across them since you broke the rules prohibiting S-ranked hunters from interfering directly with anything."
"Well, shit." Jumping down, Kang cursed upon hearing the Frost Monarch's words before responding, "No wonder the majority of you are stuck like a punch of dead weights, is that why you are not dealing with any of the rifts at all?" Knowing he had someone in his way, Kang continued pacing around while thinking about the viability of his current plan.
"Who are the counselors exactly and what is their job? Is it just to prevent the current situation from changing?" Imaging their sole existence was to keep the earth in the same state right now under the context of peace, Kang asked right away.
"No, I meant other guilds and hunters when I said everything. The organization's main purpose is to negate any conflict as much as they can to prevent others from being impacted in the process."
"Good, that's definitely good." Hearing the Frost Monarch's words, Kang breathed a sigh of relief before sitting once again.
"Since you've asked about my purpose, I'll be blunt with you."
"I have got a great ambition! And to fulfill it, I've come here to recruit you and check on the rest of your guild's potential. BUT…"
"It seems like things weren't as easy as I've thought them were. Although I haven't seen your limit, I believe I can greatly help you become an actual S-rank based on my standards. So in this case, I will give you some time to think about it. Just enough until the Hunter's Hub auction is done, if I get no response by then, then I will count it as a clear rejection."
"Either way, do what suits you but don't disappoint me." Standing from his place, Kang called another guide through his phone before casually making his way toward the stairs.
"Hey! Are you just gonna leave after causing all of his damage?" Hearing Kang's words, the Frost Monarch hurriedly stood up before shouting at Kang who waved his hands in response.
"Bullshit, this a drop in the bucket for you. Otherwise, you wouldn't have fought recklessly, right? Instead, why don't you just forget about it and merge with the golden sun? I've got a better building already, maybe this one can be branch later if you impress me enough."
"And oh, don't think much about my identity as I can let you know later once you are worthy of my trust. I believe we can talk later, but for the time being, I have to go." Turning his head around, Kang made a brief eye contact with Frost Monarch before continuing on his way down. As Kang left the building, he looked up once again, noting the sorry state of the building.
