Chapter 28 - Hunters Hub Auction

Due to Kang's early arrival, he was able to see the figures who took the VIP rooms on both of his sides. The first room was reserved for God's Hand, an S-ranked hunter which made Kang suspicious due to his name. The third room was reserved for a familiar person, someone who had no public record but was an S-ranked hunter regardless.

With over fifty items, Kang had to wait about an hour until the best items came into view. Surprisingly, his four remaining serums took the spots from six through ten. There was a fleeting sense of disappointment since Kang thought such serums were so rare that they would be at the top when it came to their prices.

"Starting from here, all items sold will be either pseudo-S-rank or true S-rank! Thus the management decided the minimum bid would be a hundred million. Beginning with the tenth item, we have four serums here!"

"Each one of those serums is capable of boosting a hunter's strength by a shocking ten percent! Not only that, but those serums can work perfectly for all ranks without—"

"One billion!" Cutting the host, Kang raised the base price by head starting the bidding process right away followed by more bids from those interested in the items…

"Three billion here! Do I—" With no one else wishing to fight against the current bidder for the serum, Kang decided to bid once more with no other purpose but to fuck with the bidders.

"Three billion, hundred million!" Raising the number by a mere hundred, Kang wanted the response, and soon enough, the same bidder went once again.

"Four billion!" Raising the price from 3.5 billion to four billion, Kang waited patiently for the response.

"Five billion!" Hearing the melodic sound of his target taking the bait. Kang smiled knowing he made good fortune, he certainly felt as if he had hit the jackpot.

Due to it being risky, Kang decided to stop fucking in case one of the buyers quit bidding mid-way, which could potentially cause him some unnecessary loss. He chose to save his money in case he wanted to buy something that piqued his interest.

With the serums being sold one after another, their value started rising, making the last one's price hit 6 billion. With enough coins in his bank account and the hub's possession, Kang felt comfortable enough to fight for whatever he wanted.

"Compared to the serums, all of the incoming items are unique items! Thus the minimum bid will be five hundred million each!

"Starting with the fifth item, we have an advanced mana ring, one of its kind! The ring is made of an S-rank mana stone and is capable of storing up to fifty thousand, enough to double the performance of S-rank hunters and five times the performance of A-rank hunters!"

"The starting price shall be 5 billion! Who's—"

"Ten billion!!!" Unable to hold himself any longer, Kang doubled the price right away to cut most of the bidders since he needed the ring urgently due it to being one hell of a viable option that could allow him to use mana. Although he had no mana to replenish the ring once it was emptied, Kang didn't hesitate to give it to one of his trusted subordinates to refill it for him with their own mana.

"Fifteen billion!" Hearing the coming voice from the first VIP room beside him, Kang didn't hesitate to bid once more, making sure his intentions were clear.

"Twenty billion!!!" Hearing the God Hand's second bid, Kang decided to raise it once more before changing his mind. Although he couldn't get the ring through bidding, he could easily steal it after the auction was complete.

"Twenty-five billion!" Giving his final bid, Kang waited patiently for his opponent's response.

"Thirty billion!"

"Congratulations, dear!" Responding sarcastically, Kang made his voice loud enough to provoke the guy sitting in the room next to him, "It's all yours, Mr.Shit Hand. I hope it was worth the thirty billion you wasted on it, HAHAHA!!!" Intending to start a fight, Kang made sure to ridicule his opponent by making sure everyone at the auction heard his voice.

'Oh, he's taken the bait!' Feeling the place shake violently, Kang knew God's Hand was enraged by his remarks. Unwilling to waste the chance, Kang immediately formed acid weapons in preparation for any incoming fights. Unfortunately, one voice pierced through the auction house before shutting God's Hand down, ruining Kang's plan.

"An S-ranked hunter that can't take a simple insult is a disgrace that shouldn't be a member of the council. Much less, the one ranked first." Hearing the threatening voice, God's Hand's mood changed drastically as the fear of getting kicked out of the council took a grip on him.

"Calmed down already? That's unlike you but good. Please solve that issue with each other privately, do not impact others in your silly fights." Revealing himself, as an old man in a black suit with a curved back and long black hair stepped forward before beaconing the host to resume the auction.

Upon first glance, Kang was able to tell how bad that disguise was to a certain degree. But he guessed it was probably true to him alone since he had practiced enough to differentiate between true and false.

"Thank you, sir. The next item in the action is a brand new armor! This armor can double an A-ranked hunter's defense despite how light it is!" Revealing a couple of thin half jackets, the woman raised them high enough to be visible for everyone to see before continuing!

"There is a total of twenty jackets and those jackets are made of S-ranked materials imported from the central continent such as serpent scales, peacock feathers, and iguana skin!" Hearing the woman's voice, Kang understood she meant mutated beasts or rather horrors as they called them.

"All of those jackets will be sold together, and the starting price is two billion!" Without any further explanation, everyone already knew what those armors were designed for, and soon enough, everyone started bidding.

Kang believed those armors worked best for hunters such as archers, healers, and most likely those who were agility-based. Thus he didn't hesitate to join the bidding!
