Chereads / Last King of Avalor / Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: The Red Moon

Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: The Red Moon

Back in the Woods

Today marks the day when the full moon turns red, amplifying the powers of mystical creatures. Alandar, in his wolf form, sensed the moon's transformative energy coursing through his veins. His agitation grew, slowly consuming him. His thirst for blood intensified, and his eyes turned black, surrendering to the primal instincts that now ruled him. He grew larger, running through the woods, searching for prey. He howled loudly, running until he spotted a being. Without hesitation, he bit and drank all the blood. His thirst for blood intensified rapidly.

Aaron regained consciousness for a few seconds, hearing Alandar trying to stop himself, but he couldn't. The powers of the red moon were too strong, and its effect on him was too overwhelming to hold back his senses. Aaron breathed rapidly and howled loudly in the depths of the wood.

KINGDOM OF AVALOR

Baley summoned the armies, searching for the king. "I think you've all heard that the king is missing... I want you all to search for the king and bring him back safely."

"Yes!" The armies responded in unison, marching out into the deep woods. Baley sighed and joined them in search of the king.

In the king's chamber, a lady sneaked through, seeking clues about her true king, Maros. As a vampire loyal to her king, she worked as a spy in Avalor, masked her saint. Suddenly, her eyes turned deep red, her fangs grew, and she quickly rushed out of the king's chambers.

Eden passed through the king's chamber. "Who's there?" he asked, sensing a presence. He turned back but couldn't find anyone. "I think someone was here; my instinct is always right. The king is missing, and someone came out of his chambers... Who could that be?" he wondered.

UNKNOWN PLACE

The lady stood, regaining control. The red moon didn't affect vampires after drinking black blood, but her eyes remained red, a lingering effect. She left, disappearing into the shadows.

KINGDOM OF RAVEN

"Bring me the black blood now," King Maros requested.

"Yes, my king," Talnor replied. "The red moon is here; be swift."

"My king, Ariiya is here," Talnor announced.

Ariiya bowed. "I couldn't find any clues in the king's chamber. The full moon's effect on me was too strong; I couldn't search everywhere."

Maros demanded, "Raise your head."

Ariiya raised her head, meeting her king's gaze. "You know you're a treasure to me. Come here," Maros said.

Ariiya smiled and sat comfortably on his lap, inhaling his sweet scent.

"Am I interrupting?" Talnor asked.

"Just give me the blood and leave," the king ordered.

Talnor handed Maros the blood, and he gulped it down, taking Ariiya's lips in his, dominating each other. The sweetness was vivid.

FLASHBACK: BEFORE ALANDAR WAS BORN

"What do you mean my child won't be only human but also a wolf?"

"We're not werewolves, you know that."

"Yes, I do, but I saw it in the book. It's written: 'The next king to rule Avalor will be a beast, not by hereditary but by his own destiny. The red moon will rise, making his beast go wild, granting him powers... He must use them wisely. It's your job to tell him after he's born, unless the curse on Avalor can't be lifted. He's the last king who can save the kingdom."

THE NEXT DAY IN THE WOODS

Alandar transformed back into his human form, through his sharp vision in the dark he could see, he then saw something, looking down at his wrist, where "Power of Time" was written. Confused, he decided to test it.

"Okay, let's try this out," he concentrated on the previous day's events in his chambers. Immediately, he found himself there, then returned to the present, sighing.

"I should head back to the kingdom," Alandar thought.

"You know it's many miles to the kingdom; you should transform," Aaron suggested.

"I can, but I won't. Baley has likely summoned the armies to search for me, and I can't let my secret leak out," Alandar replied.

Suddenly, another voice echoed in his head.
