Chapter 31
"Ah, one is face-blind, and the other is a fool…"
Haneda shook his head and covered his eyes, speechless. It was hard to imagine that one was the future of the "Eighth Gate" and the other was the "Uchiha Madara" declaring war on the ninja world.
...
After a good ten minutes of playful banter, the three arrived at a relatively secluded training ground in Konoha.
At this moment, Dai was practicing his taijutsu, walking on his hands.
Nearby, two Chūnin stood by, pointing and laughing at Dai.
"Playing training games again, are we, forever a Genin?"
"Hey, it's not easy for a forever Genin; since he can't use ninjutsu, he can only pour all his energy into taijutsu."
After saying this, both Chūnin burst into laughter.
One of them noticed Dai's son, who was being supported by two kids, and mockingly remarked,
"Oh, the forever Genin's son can't even play training games now?"
"Yeah, I wonder which kid used ninjutsu to injure him."
Hearing their taunts, Dai and his son didn't care; instead, they gave the two Chūnin a thumbs-up.
"Thanks for the encouragement!"
The two Chūnin exchanged glances, not bothering to hide their disdain:
"This father and son duo is acting like they're crazy; others insult them, and they thank them instead."
"Forget it, let's keep our distance from those two…"
Before the man could finish his sentence, Obito couldn't hold back and pointed at the two Chūnin, shouting loudly,
"Shut up! Don't insult Haneda's acknowledged opponent!"
Upon hearing the commotion, one of the Chūnin noticed the small fan on Obito's clothing and mockingly retorted,
"Oh, it's the Uchiha kid. Why aren't you following your family to bully the villagers?"
"Yeah, isn't the police force supposed to be intimidating?" the other chimed in.
This remark infuriated Obito. How could the honor of the Uchiha clan be tarnished by two small-time Chūnin?
Just as he was about to rush over and teach them a lesson, a shadow flashed by, moving like the wind.
"For people like this, just take action, Obito."
By the time Obito regained his senses, Haneda had already kicked the two Chūnin down, one foot resting on one of their heads.
"Two worthless Chūnin, it's one thing to be bullied by the top student, Kakashi, but to be taken out by me using just taijutsu? You might as well go back to school and repeat the year to avoid embarrassing yourselves."
"Also, you two worthless idiots should remember, the Uchiha clan doesn't stoop to bullying the weak."
"Get lost!"
With one kick each, Haneda sent the two Chūnin flying several meters away, casually walking with his hands in his pockets towards Dai and the others.
"Watch your back!!" Dai rushed to Haneda's side at lightning speed, just before the two fallen Chūnin could use any jutsu.
In the blink of an eye, a pair of single tomoe Sharingan began to spin slowly.
"Genjutsu—Hypnotic Eyes!"
The two Chūnin's jutsu were completely interrupted, and they fell into a deep slumber.
With his hands still in his pockets, Haneda continued walking towards Dai and the others.
As he passed by Dai, Haneda quietly said,
"There's no need to go through the trouble, Uncle Dai. In front of these eyes that can see through all genjutsu, any underhanded actions will be futile."
Hearing such a boastful statement, Obito couldn't help but exclaim, "Cool! So cool, Haneda!!"
"Teach me this super cool move, please? I beg you, Haneda!!"
Obito tossed Gai aside, pleading earnestly with Haneda.
"No way; you don't have the Sharingan, so you can't learn it." Haneda shook his head silently.
Seeing that Obito was still clinging to his clothes, Haneda helplessly added, "The Hypnotic Eyes must be released through the Sharingan, but I can teach you other jutsu."
After saying that, Haneda ignored Obito's whining and curiously turned to Gai, asking,
"Uncle Dai, it seems like it would have been easy for you to defeat them earlier; why let them insult you?"
"Strength is meant to protect one's companions, and I am a ninja of Konoha." Dai answered without hesitation.
"I see…" Haneda smiled, not surprised by Dai's response. After all, his son Gai had never opened the Eight Gates during his duel with Kakashi. Even in the future that would stay the same.
"By the way, are you friends with Gai?" Dai suddenly remembered and asked.
"No!" Obito shook his head immediately, "That guy and I have a terrible classmate relationship."
Haneda glanced at Gai and smiled up at him, saying, "Sort of; Gai is an opponent I acknowledge."
"His taijutsu is very strong, and his will is as solid as steel."
Hearing such high praise from Haneda, Gai couldn't help but blush a little.
This was the first time someone had complimented him in front of his father, acknowledging his taijutsu.
Gai couldn't help but boast, "Dad, he's Uchiha Haneda, a genius who surpassed Kakashi!"
"Really?" Upon hearing this about the top genius in school praising his son, Dai couldn't help but embrace Gai tightly:
"I knew it! Gai, your youth will never end!"
"Yes, Dad! Youth will never cease!"
Father and son embraced, tears streaming down their faces.
This touching scene left Obito stunned, and he instinctively took a few steps back.
If it weren't for Haneda being there, he would have run far away by now.

'183, still no Eight Gates, huh?'
After pondering for a moment, Haneda decided to test the waters as Gai and the others' youthful excitement began to wane:
"Uncle Dai, I heard from Gai that his taijutsu was learned from you."
"I feel Gai's taijutsu has its own system and great potential, but it seems quite immature."
"Taijutsu is an indispensable part of being a ninja; I'd like to train with you for a while, if that's alright?"
Upon hearing Haneda's admiration for his taijutsu, Dai couldn't help but nod happily.
"Of course! However, I don't have any experience teaching geniuses; I taught Gai using the most basic methods."
Dai raised his index finger to explain, "I call this training method self-imposed restriction training; in simple terms, it means challenging your difficulties and deliberately adding an unfinished punishment for yourself."
"Pushing yourself to the limit, establishing rules that belong solely to you, will spur you to complete the challenge."
"For example, my rule is that if I don't run around the village 5,000 laps before dark, I'll walk on my hands for 5,000 laps."
"If I still can't do it, then I'll do 5,000 weighted push-ups."
At this point, Gai became enthusiastic, "Do you want to give it a try, Haneda? This method is very effective!!"
Seeing this, Haneda didn't know if Gai was being serious or not.
In the original series, Gai trained this way, but what did it have to do with the Eight Gates?
Moreover, his schedule didn't allow him to train like that.
The Eight Gates was just a desperate trump card, not his everything.
Just as Haneda was contemplating how to politely decline, a ninja wearing a bird mask suddenly appeared in front of him.
