Chapter 5 - Food Fight

Kade looked on with indifference as the two warred with each other, it was unclear who was winning. Zebra girl stood up with a troubled expression, walking towards the altercation hastily.

'How pious.'

Pushing past a few people, she stopped a foot or two from the two, who were still writhing around, now on the ground. Furrowing her brow, the girl spoke.

"You two, stop immediately."

The two masses went still, looking up at her. One of them stood up, then the other followed suit. Staring at her, they nodded, before grabbing new plates and making themselves meals like everyone else.

Satisfied, Zebra turned around and began walking back towards Kade when a man stepped in her path, looking down at her.

"Aw, and I was enjoying the show too! How'd you get those two to stop with just a sentence? that was freaky" The man grinned, an undertone present in his voice that Kade simply couldn't decipher. Zebra girl looked up at him and shook her head.

"Nothing, now please get out of my-"

Kade jumped up as he saw the man raise his fist, and bring it down on her head, an inhuman amount of force behind the strike. A loud crash resounded as she collided with the floor. Zebra girl wasn't moving.

Bang!

Kade tried to shake off the feeling of a bullet tearing through his jaw as he stood up, sprinting forward while watching the man intercept Zebras travel path.

"Aw, and I was enjoying the show too! How'd you get those two to stop with just a sentence? that was freaky"

Kade was still 20 feet from him.

Zebra shook her head.

10 feet.

She began to speak.

"Nothing, now-"

This time she was cut off at now, for some reason the man decided to punch her a second earlier than he did before. Kade stared in awe as Zebras skull shattered before his eyes.

bang!

Kade could make it this time, he felt it. Sprinting without hesitation, Kade dodged past people and heard muscles finish his sentence.

Zebra shook her head. She didn't even begin speaking when the man raised his fist.

'not this time!'

Muscles staggered forward as something crashed into his back at high speed, causing him to topple over a table. Kade grabbed Zebras hand and pulled her to the opposite end of the hall while Muscles was recovering. Somehow, he had still placed himself in a cornered position, and Muscles was in between him and the door.

'Unpleasant'

Zebra stared up at Kade, dumbfounded.

"How.. did you make it all that way before he could even-"

"I had a hunch"

Wincing at how edgy he sounded, Kade stared at Muscles.

'What can I do? This dude's insane.'

"It's alright, i'll take care of it"

Zebras voice rang out, and she stepped forward. Doubt sprouted in Kades mind, but he could'nt say anything, as she spoke again.

"Trust me"

'Whatever, I can just try again if she fails, though.. I need to stop being so lax with my power, I don't fully understand my Cost..'

Kade nodded, looking on as Zebra stopped about 20 feet from Muscles, the rippling figure beginning to move toward her with malicious speed.

"You don't want to fight me."

She spoke, and a few seconds later, Muscles halted, nodding.

"Huh, I guess you're right"

He walked off, other people quickly clearing a path for him, confused looks on their faces.

'What.'

Kade walked up to Zebra, dumbfounded.

"What was that??"

Zebra chuckled, looking up at him. "It's my Revelation! Using it lets me affect a persons will to fight, either by diminishing it or multiplying it."

"Thats extremely useful." Kade could think of at least 10 different situations where that would be a great asset.

"Yeah, although my Cost messes me up sometimes..."

"Oh? What's your Cost?"

Zebra stared at him before laughing quietly. Her face hardened.

"You know, people don't usually go around telling others their weaknesses."

Kade realized his mistake and nodded. "Right, well, good job"

Then, the Organizer, or Pertis, walked into the hall, waving his arms. "I hope you all had fun! Messing up this nice place... Anyway, It's just about time to show you all to the beds, follow me out if you will."

Kade listened, walking away from Zebra, but not before grabbing his sandwich and scarfing it down greedily. Walking through the door, He saw the glow from before was now gone, leaving an eerie darkness to crowd the area. Straining his eyes to focus on the figure of Pertis, he and ten others walked with the man until the silhouette of the place Kade would be sleeping in tonight. It looked pretty torn up, likely from previous groups who had gotten into arguments, after all, people got the most angry when they were trying to sleep. Stepping in, Kade saw a long line of cots on his left and right sides, moving about halfway through the building. About halfway in, a large wall with a door, probably hiding another long line of cots. Pertis turned around, spreading his arms. There was people in some of the cots, he recognized all the guys who didn't want to fight and some of the ones who lost fights, Arms was here.

"Here's the royal resting place! Girls go through that door, boys stay here, we have lots to learn tomorrow!" Pertis winked, it was clear what he meant by "learn". Kade was going to have a long day tomorrow, so he found the cleanest-looking unoccupied cot he could, and laid down in it, hoping he would be shown the showers tomorrow morning. Watching Zebra and the rest of the girls walk down the hall toward the other half of the building, Kade let his eyes shut slowly.

Kade awoke screaming, opening his eyes, he saw people running, and bullets flying.
