Chapter 29 - 29- Earth Manipulation

Nicolas focused intently on the ground beneath him, his fingers splayed out over the cool, damp soil. The fresh scent of earth filled his nostrils, the air around him crisp and still, as though the forest itself was holding its breath. The towering trees cast long shadows across the clearing, their rustling leaves whispering like ancient secrets. He had come to this secluded spot every day for months, training tirelessly. Now, with his newfound control over mana, he set his sights on manipulating the earth itself.

He closed his eyes and visualized the mana flowing out from his core, extending into the ground like roots of a great tree. His mind reached deep into the earth, urging the soil to shift, to bend to his will. He imagined the dirt moving beneath him, rising and falling in waves like the surface of a calm sea.

But no matter how hard he tried, the result was always the same—a faint tremor, barely noticeable. The ground would shift ever so slightly, just enough for him to feel the movement, but not enough to make any real impact.

Days turned into weeks, and Nicolas grew frustrated. Each morning, he sat cross-legged in the clearing, eyes closed, focusing all his mental energy on manipulating the earth. His brow would furrow with concentration, sweat trickling down his temples as he poured his mana into the ground. But the earth remained stubborn, refusing to obey him fully. All he could produce were weak tremors, small vibrations that did little to change the landscape.

Still, he persisted. Each night, he would collapse onto his bed exhausted, his body drained from the effort, but his determination unwavering. He was close—he could feel it. The mana was responding; it was just a matter of finding the right balance, the right connection.

One day, after another fruitless attempt, Nicolas sat back on his heels, wiping the sweat from his brow. His eyes fell on the dirt in front of him, a small patch of soil that looked no different from the rest of the ground around it. But then, an idea struck him. He had been focusing on manipulating the earth on a large scale, trying to control entire sections of the ground beneath him. What if he started smaller?

Reaching down, Nicolas scooped up a handful of dirt, letting it rest in his palm. The cool grains slipped between his fingers, earthy and raw. He closed his eyes and focused his mana on the small clump of soil. It was delicate work, more precise than anything he had attempted before. He imagined the dirt shifting, shaping itself to his will.

At first, nothing happened. The dirt remained a simple, unremarkable clump in his hand. But Nicolas was patient. He took a deep breath, quieting his mind, and focused all his energy on the task at hand. Slowly, he felt the mana begin to flow, swirling around the grains of dirt, coaxing them into movement.

A small tremor ran through his hand, and the dirt began to shift. Nicolas watched in awe as the soil twisted and turned in his palm, forming a tiny arrow. It wasn't much, just a crude shape, but it was progress. His heart raced with excitement. This was the breakthrough he had been waiting for.

For the next month, Nicolas dedicated himself to mastering this new skill. Each day, he would scoop up a handful of dirt and practice shaping it with his mana. At first, it was slow, difficult work. The dirt resisted him, refusing to take the forms he envisioned. But with each passing day, he grew more confident, more in tune with the mana inside him.

Soon, the dirt began to bend to his will with ease. He could mold it into whatever shape he desired—a sharp arrow, a small box, even a simple figure. He marveled at the precision of his control, watching as the soil shifted and danced in his palm, responding to his every thought.

Throughout this time, Nicolas never forgot to meditate. Each time his mana was consumed by his training, he would sit quietly, breathing deeply, letting his body and mind recover. The meditation sessions became a vital part of his routine, a time for reflection and growth. And with each session, his mana reserves grew stronger, his capacity to manipulate the earth expanding with every passing day.

Finally, after weeks of practice, Nicolas felt ready to return to his original goal. The small-scale manipulation had honed his skills, and he was confident he could now control the earth on a larger scale. He returned to his usual spot in the clearing, the familiar scent of the forest filling his lungs as he sat cross-legged on the ground.

This time, when he extended his mana into the earth, he felt a difference. The connection was stronger, more fluid. The earth responded to his will, shifting beneath him in waves that were more noticeable than before. He could feel the ground bending to his command, the soil vibrating with energy as he directed his mana through it.

Slowly, the earth beneath him began to shift. A low rumble echoed through the clearing, and Nicolas smiled as he watched the soil rise and fall in gentle ripples. The ground trembled, not violently, but with purpose, responding to his every thought. He could feel his control extending in all directions, reaching up to a ten-meter radius around him. The power coursed through him like a river, steady and unstoppable.

Nicolas grinned, a sense of accomplishment filling him. He had done it. After months of hard work and dedication, he had finally mastered the ability to manipulate the earth. The ground beneath him moved as he commanded, bending to his will. It wasn't perfect—his range was limited, and the tremors were still small—but it was progress. He had come so far, and he knew this was just the beginning.

He looked out at the forest, the trees swaying gently in the breeze, the sunlight filtering through the canopy above. The silence of the woods seemed almost reverent, as though the world itself acknowledged his achievement. His heart raced with anticipation. There was so much more to learn, so much more potential to unlock.

With a deep breath, Nicolas stood, his gaze fixed on the horizon. He had discovered the power within him, and now, it was time to see just how far he could take it.
