The next morning, Nicolas, Garen, and Renrou went home to get some rest. The villagers had celebrated all night, feeling safer than they had in a long time.
Lying on his bed, Nicolas reflected on the journey he'd been through since coming to this world. His normal life had taken a dangerous turn, first losing his parents, then working tirelessly to become stronger, and eventually fighting his best friend, who had somehow become a Wesen.
Since his parents' death, Nicolas had never felt secure in this world. But now, after building the earth wall around the village, he could finally relax a little.
"Hmm... now that the wall can secure the village, what should I do next?" Nicolas wondered aloud, staring at the ceiling of his room. "Manipulating earth is useful, but it's not practical for fighting the beasts in this world. Still, if I work hard to improve my control, it might work. Sigh... if only I could create other elements."
After letting his mind wander, Nicolas eventually drifted into a deep sleep.
The next day, he woke up when the sun was high in the sky. After washing his face with a wet cloth his uncle had brought, Nicolas stepped outside to find Garen to discuss something important. He walked to the village wall and found his uncle standing atop it, talking to Renrou about something.
"Uncle, I need to talk to you about something," Nicolas said as he approached.
Garen turned in surprise and asked, "Of course, Nicolas. You can talk to me about anything." He paused, giving Nicolas his full attention.
Taking a deep breath, Nicolas spoke. "Uncle, I was thinking of increasing the population of our village. What do you think?"
Garen looked surprised but instead of answering, he asked, "Can you tell me, Nicolas, why do you want to do that?"
Looking out over the village, Nicolas replied, "Uncle, before, we were helpless against the wild beasts and monsters. But now that I have a way to protect the village, why not bring in more people and make the village even stronger? The more people we have, the easier it will be to protect the village. And with this power, I think I can do a lot of good for people who live in constant fear."
Hearing his nephew, Garen looked at him with pride and nodded. "You know, I was going to bring this up with you eventually, but now that you've taken the initiative, I have no worries. I'll talk to the elders and send experienced hunters to nearby villages. Whether they choose to join us is up to them."
Nicolas smiled, a thought crossing his mind. I never knew how many villages are near us. I should ask Uncle.
As he walked towards a small hill, Nicolas kept pondering his uncle's words. There were a total of four villages within a 3-kilometer radius, each with a population and strength similar to Vennet village, with around 100 people each.
If they managed to gather everyone, the population of Vennet would exceed 500. The wall had been built far enough from the village that it could accommodate over 1,000 people, so space wouldn't be an issue.
Arriving at his usual spot, Nicolas thought about what element to focus on next. Earth manipulation is great for defense, movement, and a bit of offense with earth spikes, but for pure offense, wind and fire are essential in a world like this.
So Nicolas began practicing wind manipulation. Wind control was much harder than earth manipulation. After struggling with it for a long time without progress, hoping inspiration would strike eventually.
A week later, all the hunters returned from their mission, but one brought bad news. A village to the east of Gloamwood Forest had been massacred, and the hunter who visited it couldn't determine the cause. This news made Garen and the elders frown deeply. However, the good news was that the remaining three villages had accepted the proposal to move to Vennet, drawn by the promise of the ten-meter-high wall.
Meanwhile, Nicolas focused entirely on mastering wind manipulation, training non-stop. For three days, he practiced until he finally began to feel the flow of the wind. Slowly, his control over it grew, and after two months of hard work, he reached an initial level of mastery in wind manipulation.
As for his earth manipulation, it had reached what he called "intermediate mastery." He'd assigned these levels on a whim and didn't know how many stages there were, but he didn't care. He focused solely on practice.
The newcomers to the village were impressed by Nicolas. His dedication inspired the village youth, who began working harder as well. To them, Nicolas was a savior, someone they all respected deeply, both young and old.
Even Renrou began working hard, and Garen often wore a concerned expression, seeing the two of them train so tirelessly. To Nicolas's surprise, Renrou had activated his mantel power ability as well. When he told Nicolas, Nicolas was thrilled and taught him how to sense and control mana.
Two years passed, and Nicolas and Renrou had both turned 13. Renrou, due to his natural strength, was now a head taller than Nicolas and quite burly. And all this possible because of wolf bloodline.
As for Nicolas, at this moment he was laying on the grass and watching the moving clouds and in a trance and while mutter to himself.
" Everyone after rebirth gets golden finger but what about me. I have to work hard like any other person. This .....is unfare. I wish I also had a system."
After saying that Nicolas slept peacefully but didn't know that the moment he spoke his mind. Inside his consciousness space a black blob started to wiggle in different shapes. And Became bigger and bigger. In just few moments it covered everything inside Nicolas body.
But looking at Nicolas peace full appearance. It can be deduce that Nicolas didn't feel a thing. He is still sleeping peacefully.
