Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: The Beginning of An Auction

"Thank you for your business, sir."

Lorian walked away as he finally finished his quests that he had gotten in the past few days.

He had been continually completing quests; all of his time currently was all spent on doing quests and earning money.

Today was the day that the first auction was going to start, and although he could wait until the next auction and gather up his money even further, today's auction was a bit special.

This auction had material that he wanted to obtain. For Lorain, acquiring this material would be very enjoyable and beneficial, and it would resolve any potential future problem when he needed this material.

Although it was still early in the morning, the auction didn't start until noon, so Lorian had some time to spend while he waited for the auction to start.

Lorian took a quick glance at the sky before heading off to a nearby store, where it sold clothes and other accessories.

Lorian walked inside before buying some reasonable clothes to wear. He first bought a jacket for the winter and bought some clothes that made him seem a bit wealthy.

Lorian made sure to buy any clothes he needed before quickly heading out of the shop. Around this point, Lorian quickly headed back to the inn that he was staying at.

Around now, Lorian had been thinking for quite a long time. Although he was staying at a hotel with extremely cheap prices, it was still unsafe, and he didn't trust anybody there.

Lorian will eventually start to gain more and more materials, and eventually people will start to catch on, and Lorian might start to get robbed at night.

Knowing this Lorian only had a couple of choices he could choose from, the first one he could think of was the obvious choice: just simply buy or rent a house in the inner city where Path Masters lived.

That didn't seem like a bad idea, but Lorian wanted to maximize the amount of money he was spending.

Lorian looked around the streets before thinking of the second idea, creating an artifact that allowed him to store his items.

This way he could keep staying in the inn without getting the attention of multipole people from the materials I've been stocking up, since it will all be hidden away.

This will allow me to stay in a relatively cheap place and save up on money. This was a good way, but Lorian knew the costs of trying to create artifacts.

The artwork he needed to create was most likely of the Space Path, so he needed a certain amount of Space Path Runic Materials.

This was quite the problem; not only were space paths not often seen here, but they were also quite heavy in their price.

And depending on the space and other benefits the architect could give, the money would start to go up even further.

Getting this method was the most logical and most convenient for Lorian. With this artifact, Lorian will gain a wider spectrum of opportunities and allow himself to progress even further, increasing his battle strength to another level.

This was why Lorian really wanted to join this auction; they would be selling a Space Path material that was on the rarer side to get but very beneficial towards Lorian.

The best part about this bag was that the recipe for this bag was unknown, although there were other ways of creating bags with similar functions.

This bag's recipe was created by Lorian himself during the later stages of his life; it was a creation that was extremely useful for him.

After a while, Lorian eventually got all of his items and stuff sorted out and got ready for the auction. He made sure to dress in nicer clothes before quickly heading outside and towards the building where the auction would be held.

Once he got there, he would first confirm his name with a worker and would be let in shortly afterwards. The security for this authentication wasn't all that big for a couple of reasons.

The first major reason was that the items being sold here weren't worth much money; almost no robber would willingly take the risk of robbing this place with such little benefit.

It would be courting death for a single dollar; nobody is going to be that stupid in this world.

The second reason was that Meryl was quite the safe city. If people were to risk their lives and safely get themselves out of the auction building alive.

There is no way they could get out of the city alive. Not only will this ruin the city's reputation, but the city mayor could even be involved.

Death would most likely be the least of your worries, and you would most likely be begging for death by the end of the day.

Lorian looked around before heading inside the building; it was a relatively small building that was centered around a stage with seats below.

Lorian took a seat near the back before quickly sitting down and waiting in patience. The room was slowly starting to fill with people, and the room got more and more packed by the minute.

He could hear a couple people sitting near him but not right next to him; the room was filled but now packed to the brim; most people were sitting at the front, but Lorian wasn't going to be auctioning enough for that.

He simply wanted one thing from this auction and perhaps take a look at another, but he wasn't there to gain a lot of material.

He was still extremely poor when compared to other Path Masters. He couldn't afford to bid and compete with other Path Masters.

Lorian glanced ahead as the auction slowly started, most people around him here quite restless, wanting to snatch the best materials and artwork that they could get.

A man walked on the stage; he was dressed in a suit, and he was standing straight up. On his hand held a small binder, and his face was simple but attracting.

He quickly spoke out loud, using a method to project his voice across this room.

"'Welcome to the Astral Auction House; my name is Morris, and I will be your auctioneer for today."

Morris spoke in a loud but very polite voice; he quickly introduced the auction and got straight to the point, showing the first item that they were selling.

"The first item we have today is an artifact; it's a Rank 1 defensive type artifact with extremely versatile strength; its name is Extracting Water Plate."

"Its ability is to extract water that the fellow Path Master has stored and project it as a flat plate that can block attacks. The starting price will be 500 silver coins."

People from all around the room suddenly got interested; a defensive-type artifact was well sought after if the Path Master did not have any defensive skills and is extremely useful.

The price of the auction kept getting raised higher and higher.

"550 silver coins!"

"I'll do 590 silver coins."

The price kept increasing before eventually selling at around 980 silver coins. The artifact was well versed and kept in good condition; it was cheaper compared to other Rank 1 artifacts, so it was cheaper than the normal.

"The next item we have here is a Water Path Runic Material; it's called Dripping Water Stone, a Rank 1 Runic Material, and its starting price will be 40 silver coins.

Lorian gazed ahead as countless Runic materials and artifacts got sold and auctioned off; everyone in this room was actively participating, except for him.

Lorian waited patiently as the time finally came. He glanced ahead with clear eyes as he got ready to buy this item.

"Now for the next item, we have a Space Path Runic Material."

Lorian heaved a sigh as this moment finally came, the entire reason why he was at this auction.
