"Those damn giants—so big yet so timid! Guess the rumors were true." Jibril scowled as she flew through the sky, her wings shimmering like they held a piece of the galaxy itself. Even with anger etched across her face, her beauty was impossible to ignore, a stunning, almost surreal contradiction.
But if the giant race could hear her, they'd be livid. Every day Jibril harassed them. Initially, they had the spirit to fight back, but the Flügel species were more slippery than they seemed. Their spatial abilities were unmatched—if they couldn't win, they simply vanished, reappearing when they had the upper hand. Every confrontation ended with the giants wounded, and Jibril escaped to heal, only to return again. It was maddening.
"Ugh—!" Suddenly, Jibril felt her body seize up, as if she'd been struck by lightning. Her wings stiffened, and she plummeted to the ground, unable to control her flight.
"Boom!" She landed head-first, crashing into something hard. Pain shot through her head as a massive lump formed. Wincing, she looked around. What she had struck wasn't just any rock—it was the defensive barrier of the elves. As the barrier revealed itself, the hidden world beneath became exposed.
A beautiful landscape stretched out before her—flowers in full bloom, houses seamlessly woven into ancient trees, and elves bustling about, their pointed ears a clear mark of their identity. The seventh-ranked race in the standing: the forest elves, known for their extraordinary magic prowess.
"I've actually been blocked by a bunch of wild monkeys from the forest?!" Jibril fumed, her face twisted with fury. The pain in her head, coupled with her already sour mood, pushed her over the edge.
Without hesitation, Jibril gathered elemental power in her hands, her eyes burning with determination. The air around her darkened as she conjured a massive energy sword of pure, dark elemental force. With a roar, she brought it crashing down on the elves' defensive barrier.
"Clang!"
"Crack—!"
The sound echoed like a thunderclap, shaking the entire area. The barrier splintered under Jibril's relentless assault, the sheer force reverberating and causing pain to anyone nearby.
"What's happening?!" Panic spread through the elves below, their faces filled with a mix of confusion and fear. A high-ranking female elf with striking blonde hair narrowed her eyes as she looked skyward, recognizing the intruder.
"Damn it! It's a Flügel—and not just any Flügel. It's the notorious war-crazed Jibril!" Think Nirvalen clenched her teeth. She was a prodigy among elves, an Octo-Caster capable of wielding eight high-level spells at once. Yet, even with all her power, the chasm between her and Jibril was overwhelming.
"Lady Think, what do we do?" an elf beside her asked, barely keeping the panic from their voice. The elves were only one rank below the Flügel in the racial standings, but that ranking hardly reflected the true power disparity. To compare them was like comparing gods to mortals.
"Close the secret chamber! Protect the magic grimoires! Everyone, defend with all your strength!" Think commanded, her face flushed with urgency. The alarm bells rang out through the forest, and thousands of elves scrambled to mount a defense.
"Heh, like a turtle hiding in its shell," Jibril sneered, slashing at the barrier a few more times. Despite her efforts, she noticed the defenses were being rapidly reinforced. The elves were desperately pouring their magic into the barrier, and ordinary attacks wouldn't be enough to bring it down.
A grin spread across Jibril's face—a manic, almost joyful expression. The elemental power on her wings surged, and the halo beside her head spun faster and faster, gathering energy. She raised her hands above her, the light intensifying.
"No! That's the Flügel's signature skill—Heavenly Smite! Everyone, full defense!" Think's voice cracked as she shouted, her pupils dilating with fear. The elves felt their hearts drop as they realized what was coming. They poured every ounce of elemental magic they had into the barrier, their bodies trembling from the effort.
"Heavenly Smite!"
Jibril's voice rang out as she unleashed the devastating attack. A massive burst of energy erupted from her hands, more than 90% of her full strength, and she quickly teleported to a safer distance—she wasn't going to let herself be caught in the backlash again.
The first layer of the elves' defensive boundary shattered like paper, the blinding light of Heavenly Smite growing ever more intense. The next moment, it exploded with unimaginable force, tearing apart the enchantment that protected the elven city.
Even with every elf defending with all their might, they could only absorb a portion of the attack's power. The aftershock swept through the elven capital, obliterating everything in its path. Nearly half of the elves were instantly reduced to ash, and the survivors, led by Think, fled desperately, clutching the precious magic grimoires.
"Those wild monkeys are at least good for something. I feel much better now." Jibril watched from a distance, admiring the explosion's aftermath. The sky was filled with thick black smoke, the once vibrant elven city now in ruins. Stretching her arms, she let out a satisfied sigh, her figure bathed in the glow of the destruction she had caused.
As the dust began to settle, Jibril shot forward, eager to recover any grimoires that might still be intact. The elves' magic, though inferior, had its uses. The knowledge in their grimoires could be the key to perfecting her own power.
Little did Jibril know, her earlier encounter with Riku had set off a chain of events that would lead to this moment. The butterfly effect of their meeting had altered her plans, and now, the elven kingdom lay in ruins—half a year earlier than it might have otherwise.
