"Is this the warship of the Dwarfs? It's massive." Riku adjusted his dust jacket, gazing at the colossal steel beast quietly lying in the ruins before him. The sight was both awe-inspiring and foreboding.
On this planet, the technological prowess of the Dwarfs was staggering. Airships, laser weaponry—these were mere trinkets in their arsenal. Nuclear bombs were a laughable concern for their species. While individual Dwarfs might lack personal combat skills, the equipment they wielded could effortlessly turn entire cities to ash.
[Ding!]
[Wreckage of a Dwarf warship found. It can be recycled for 5,000 exchange points. Would you like to recycle it?]
As Riku approached the warship, the system's notification flashed before him, prompting a smile. "Of course warships are recyclable and valuable. This trip wasn't in vain after all," he thought, his spirits lifted by the unexpected find.
"System, don't recycle it," he replied, refusing the offer. He had more pressing matters to attend to.
"I hope the Dwarf crew is long gone. Otherwise, this could get tricky…" Riku muttered, feeling a surge of apprehension. Standing on a nearby ridge, he pulled out ropes and his gear, taking a deep breath to steady himself.
He carefully tied his horse in a safe spot before stepping off into the air, gliding toward the Dwarf warship with the aid of his Hermes Boots. If anyone from Earth were to witness this, they'd surely worship him as a god.
Feeling the peculiar sensation of walking on air, Riku pondered the oddity of his situation. As he explored the warship, he remained vigilant, knowing that although the vessel had been abandoned for a long time, it didn't guarantee safety. The chance of finding a stray Dwarf—or worse, a demon—lurking inside was still very real.
Only when he successfully retrieved the Dwarf's telescope and its power source, storing them in his storage space, did he finally breathe a sigh of relief. That was the primary reason for his expedition; now, he could shift his focus.
"System, recover the wreckage of the Dwarf warship," he commanded calmly. The recycling process in this complex vessel was straightforward, especially since the ship was already in disarray.
[Recycling the warship… Worth 5,000 exchange points. Recovery complete.] The system's voice rang out, cold and efficient.
"System, consume 5,000 exchange points. I want to open the exquisite treasure chest," Riku instructed, his anticipation rising.
[5,000 exchange points consumed. Exquisite treasure chest redeemed successfully.] The system confirmed, and a treasure chest radiating emerald green light appeared before him.
With excitement coursing through him, Riku placed his hand on the exquisite treasure chest. As the lid clicked open, a brilliant white light enveloped him.
[Ding!]
[Congratulations, host. You have obtained an intermediate chaotic energy source.]
[Intermediate Chaotic Energy Source: After absorption, an energy seed will be planted within the host, allowing for independent absorption of external energy to enhance strength and store energy. Additionally, upon analyzing one type of energy, the chaotic energy can be equivalently converted into other energy forms.]
[Ding!]
[Found an intermediate chaotic energy source worth 10,000 exchange points. Would you like to recycle it?]
"Don't recycle it. Absorb it directly," Riku replied, raising an eyebrow with indifference. The value of this chaotic energy source far surpassed that of the exquisite treasure chest. While recycling it might seem profitable, Riku was wary—luck like this was unpredictable. Moreover, he needed this source to bolster his abilities in this harsh world.
"Understood," the system replied, executing the command.
In an instant, the radiant white light merged with Riku's body, infusing him with an immense surge of energy.
"Whew, this really is something special." Riku floated mid-air, feeling the newfound power coursing through him, invigorating and exhilarating.
"Is this what it feels like to wield elemental energy?" He extended his fingers, condensing the elemental forces around him into an emerald-green light, marveling at his transformation.
"However, even with this newfound strength, I lack techniques or magic. It's like being an ordinary person with untapped power," he noted, shaking his head slightly. He needed to find a way to learn some magic from the Elves in the future.
A sly grin spread across his face as he envisioned his next target. The Elves were blissfully unaware, going about their peaceful lives, never suspecting that a human they deemed inferior was planning to become a formidable opponent.
"Before that, let's test the strength of this energy," Riku declared, scanning the area until his gaze fell upon a mountain demon, roaring in fury at the disappearance of the warship.
Clearly, there were indeed demons connected to the ship. With a spark of determination, Riku descended toward the mountain demon, which stood three times taller than him, its grotesque face twisted in rage.
How could the mountain demon possibly tolerate being provoked by a mere human? It charged at Riku, intent on tearing him apart and devouring him whole.
But before the demon could strike, Riku transformed into a flash of movement. He surged forward, his fist wrapped in powerful elemental energy and unleashed a devastating blow directly into the demon's abdomen. The impact sent the mountain demon hurtling through the air like a rag doll, its body disintegrating upon collision with the ground, splattering blood and flesh in all directions.
One hit—instant kill. Riku stood over the fallen beast, a testament to his newfound power, his heart racing with exhilaration.
