"Hand them over," Ariel said firmly, her suspicion growing.

The nurse huffed and scoffed. "What gives you the right to question me?" She sneered at Ariel. "Do you think you're someone important? Someone like you could never belong in the Golden family's world."

Ariel frowned, feeling a sting in her heart. "What does that even mean?"

"Don't you know? Your husband already has a fiancée, someone far more beautiful and wealthier than you! You're nothing but a temporary plaything, and soon, you'll be thrown out on the street."

Ariel's face paled, but just as she opened her mouth to respond, a cold, steely voice cut through the room.

"Enough!" Rhysand's voice was low, but his tone was filled with anger.

Ariel turned to see him standing in the doorway, his expression fierce as he glared at the nurse.

The nurse froze, her face losing all color as she realized he'd heard everything.
