Chapter 1 - Accident.

It was annoyingly hot in Horington by the time June arrived. After her part-time job ended at night, Eliza Tanner waited till the other waiter filed out before she got on her motorcycle. She took the road to a quiet alley to head home. It might be deserted, but she could shorten her journey by over ten minutes.

Before she could passed out of the alley, a Ferrari nearby got knocked off the road by a large truck running the red light. The Ferrari was severely wrecked, its windows shattered and its trunk on fire. It might explode at any minute, and its driver was covered in blood and unconscious in his seat.

Eliza had no idea what gave her the courage at the time. Without a second thought, she raced to the car and desperately pulled the guy out of it. As soon as she dragged him several meters away, she heard a loud kaboom! The car exploded right away.

Eliza was shaken with fright. If she had been a little bit slower, she would probably have been blown to pieces along with the guy!

Eliza then rushed to the emergency registration counter while carrying a bloodied man on her back with all her strength. She said hurriedly, "This guy needs emergency treatment! He passed out in a car accident."

Pulling his phone out, Eliza typed out a text and sent it to the man's last call.

After that Eliza returned to her rented apartment wearily and took a shower. Next day, she rushed to the hospital to look for the guy but when she reached the hospital and asked about the guy, the nurse told her that he had left right after regaining consciousness the night before.

Over the next few days, she worked with even greater diligence every single day. When she thought about how it would be her third anniversary with Robert in three days, she worked around the clock to could come back earlier, hoping to give him a surprise.

The woman quickly hailed a cab to Robert's apartment.

-----

With a blissful smiled she entered the apartment and then changed into a pair of slippers. Just when she reached the living room, a woman's moan of pleasure drifted out of the master bedroom.

All at once, her heart lurched. The master bedroom's door was slightly ajar, and the woman's seductive and enthralling voice came from within the room.

In a flash, a raging fire started blazing within her. Her legs felt as though they were made of lead, but still, they involuntarily led the way.

As she stood at the door of the bedroom, the cries of ecstasy from within sounded increasingly clear, every single sound hitting her squarely in the chest.

The door creaked open with a slight push from her.

A pair of beige high heels were scattered haphazardly, and a myriad of feminine items littered the floor. Such a scene had her thoughts inevitably going into the gutter.

Enduring the fury and panic within her, she shifted her eyes to the bed. But at that single glance, it instantly felt as though a knife pierced her heart, the pain so excruciating that she couldn't quite breathe.

Her step sister was currently in bed with her boyfriend, Robert.

The moment Hailey caught sight of Eliza by the door, her eyes glinted with provocation, and her moans became even more licentious.

"Darling, E-Eli is really here."

Placing her hands against his chest, Hailey pointed in the direction of the bedroom door.

"W-What?"

The moment Robert spotted Eliza, he froze instantly.

He swiftly scrambled off Hailey, his gaze brimming with panic as he regarded Eliza.

At that very moment, his desire had long vanished without a trace. Panicked, he didn't even have the time to cover his birthday suit.

Hailey, on the other hand, pulled the covers around herself and looked at Eliza with a derisive sneer tugging at the corners of her mouth.

By then, Eliza's face was already stained with tears. Inundated by wrath and hatred, she wanted to vent at the cruelty of the truth, but she merely spun around to leave.

Robert quickly chased after Eliza with a towel around his waist, his gaze radiating guilt. "I can explain, Eli…"

"What? I saw everything clear as day just now." She shouted, exhausting the last vestiges of her strength.

Spinning on her heels, she ran out of the community. She sprinted relentlessly, blocking out any reminiscence of the scene she had witnessed earlier with the vigorous exercise.

------

Once dusk had fallen, Wuinch the biggest entertainment, had been surrounded by lights and sounds of singing. Quoting her friend, Cherry, this was the best place to have fun during a cold, harsh night.

Eliza didn't normally like to frequent places like these; but today, she was leaning on the bar counter and downing glasses of wine. The woman squinted at the strangers who were mingling around the

room.

"Are you alone, miss?"

Someone placed their hand on her shoulder and used this chance to stroke it. Eliza shuddered under their touch and flung the hand away in disgust. "Piss off."

Eliza ran out of the hotel. Suddenly, a car skidded to a halt, shocking Eliza. She stumbled and fell down to the ground.

The driver gulped nervously and looked at the man in the backseat of the car. "S-Sir?"

The man frowned; the situation did not perturb him at all. All he did was look at the man in the passenger seat and say. "Go and take a look."
