Hearing this, the short-cut kid in a judo uniform clenched his fists.
At the same time, his large eyes beneath thick eyebrows locked onto the towering building in front of him—said to be the fourth tallest structure in the world—and he couldn't help but be mesmerized by its grandeur.
Seeing Zushi like this, a soft smile appeared on Wing's face. Years ago, after passing the Hunter exam, he too had trained here, at Heavens Arena, and met the teacher who would change his life. After several years of training, Wing gained his current strength.
Now, time had flown by. So many years had passed, and he himself had found a promising student. As he started accepting apprentices, the rapid passage of time weighed on him, making him feel both nostalgic and old. I wonder how my teacher is doing now?
Wing's heart was filled with emotion, but his expression abruptly changed as his gaze shifted to a certain direction.
A young man, about sixteen or seventeen, was approaching them.
"This person is strong... and he's coming for us!" Wing's senses tingled.
His strength allowed him to feel the boy's intent. Although there was no malice, the smile on Wing's face dimmed, his body tensed slightly in preparation.
In this dangerous world, anything was possible.
"Excuse me, but are you Mr. Wing?" The boy asked with a friendly smile as he reached the two of them.
"Yes, I am Wing. May I ask what this... gentleman needs from me?" Wing replied cautiously, noticing that the boy seemed to already know who he was. The question appeared to be more of a formality.
Do I know this boy? How does he recognize me? Wing wondered but kept his expression neutral.
"That's right, Mr. Wing. My name is Ronnel, and I need your help with something."
As Ronnel spoke, under Zushi's curious gaze, he extended his hand, and a finely crafted wooden box appeared in his palm.
"I've heard from several sources that your master, Bisky, is a famous hunter. I have great respect for her, and I recently acquired a very precious gem. I wish to present it to her as a token of my admiration."
He knows master Bisky? Presenting gems? And his aura... Wing frowned as he watched Ronnel open the wooden box in his hand.
"Queen Mermaid's Tears?"
Wing was stunned, the words slipping from his mouth.
Having studied under Bisky for so many years, he had become familiar with many famous gemstones, and Queen Mermaid's Tears was one of the most extraordinary.
Inside the box lay a stunning jewel, a deep-sea blue gem, flawless and shaped like a noble mermaid wearing a crown. It was unmistakable—the Queen Mermaid's Tears.
Back when Wing was training under Bisky, he had the rare opportunity to witness the discovery of this very gem.
Its color, form, and purity were beyond compare. Wing vividly remembered the look of awe in Bisky's eyes when she gazed upon it. Even someone as seasoned as Bisky was utterly captivated by its beauty.
The gem had been rated as a G-class item on the official Hunter website, meaning it could theoretically be bought with money. However, Wing recalled that despite Bisky gathering all of her life savings and even borrowing 300 million Jenny from him—money Wing had earned through hard battles at Heavens Arena—she still lost the auction for this gem. Leaving Bisky disappointed for a long time.
Never in his wildest dreams did Wing expect to see Queen Mermaid's Tears again today, and the idea that Ronnel intended to give it to Bisky was even more shocking.
If someone offers you a gift for no reason, they must have an ulterior motive, Wing thought. Clearly, Ronnel wanted something from Bisky in exchange for this priceless gem.
But the allure of the gem... Wing's eyes lingered on the Queen Mermaid's Tears, his thoughts conflicted.
There's hope!
Seeing Wing's hesitation, Ronnel, who had been slightly nervous, felt a wave of relief wash over him. Seizing the moment, he pressed on, adding,
"I understand your caution, Mr. Wing. I may have been a bit abrupt. How about this: call Biscuit Krueger, explain everything, and let her decide?"
After a moment's contemplation, Wing glanced at Ronnel, then nodded slowly.
Taking Zushi with him, Wing moved a little further away, pulling out his mobile phone from his pocket. Ronnel knew it was done.
Weighing the wooden box in his hand, Ronnel's smile could no longer be contained.
These days, Ronnel had used the money he and Shizuku earned from their battles at Heavens Arena to fund their escapades through major casinos.
