[Calamity point: 98]
Everything around seemingly blurred, every noise around me seemingly died, slowly the world was turning red. What the hell is that . . . What is he doing to her!
[Calamity point: 97]
I felt a hand holding me.
I snapped back to reality, Hana was holding me as I was about to stand up. She had a worried face on her face.
"Maverick, don't involve yourself . . . "
"W-what!"
"You could get in trouble!" Hana urged me.
"In trouble? For helping someone!"
"Maverick it's not like that, I don't want you to get in trouble, especially before the entrance ceremony. It's best we call a teacher."
I looked at all of them ignoring it, some of them were even laughing like it was funny!
An uneasy feeling settled inside of me, slowly the uneasy feeling began to grow more vile, more rageful. Raw anger flooded inside of me. I have to do something, I can't let this go on without doing something! Consequences be damned!
I ran to the man, I heard Hana say something, but it didn't matter. Once I was close enough I threw a right punch to his fight - sending him to the ground.
Fuck! It hurts! My hand was all red and even had a cut on my knuckles - I should've used Mana Reinforcement so it wouldn't hurt this much. Never mind that I gotta check on Ayjin.
"You ok Ayjin? The guy didn't hurt you too much right?" I pulled her up.
"Jackson? You're here?"
"Yeah, it's a crazy coincidence you're here too," I notice all around me, everyone's attention is now on me; silently watching me to know what I will do next. Crap I sweat heavily from all the sudden attention.
"Hey Ayjin ca-"
"What the hell is wrong with you!" It was the guy that had been bullying Ayjin. He stood up wiping away the blood on his mouth, he glared daggers at me.
"Are you some kind of damn retarded freak," He said. Around us people began to whisper to one another, but I ignored it.
"I'll punch you again if you continue to bully her more," I shot daggers at her.
The tension in the air was thick, around us the other students whispering grew louder.
"Is there a fight?"
"Look, he's a delusional commoner."
"Beat his ass Noah, show that commoners his place."
I looked above to see his level, it was fifty-three, crap.
"I'll make you wish you'll die!" Noah rushes towards me and throws a right hook, I dodge it.
A sword unsheathed.
Man flooded my arm, as I retaliated by punching him in the guts–this stuns him for a few seconds. I didn't lose this chance.
With my Mana infused leg kicks him in the chest. This made him stubble back.
All around me the students were shouting, the majority of it were them cheering on Noah. The staff were shouting for us to stop, but they didn't try to physically stop us–probably because they don't have an Arcana.
He threw a left hook to my face sending me across the floor–hitting multiple tables along the way. Fuck it hurts, the taste of iron was in my mouth and something liquid was dripping down on the floor–ah it was my blood, I'm bleeding fuck . . . Everything around me was blurry.
"You pathetic commoner, I'll show you the real world doesn't like wannabe delusional heroes like you," Noah said walking over to me.
"Stop it or else . . . " Hana was in front of me, her rapier pointing it directly at Noah.
Damn it! Why am I so fucking weak!
[Calamity Point: 96]
"What the hell are you doing siding with a commoner?" Noah snarls at her.
"If you continue this foolish nonsense I'll show you the true meaning of hell."
Both nobles glared at each other, tension filled the air–one move could spell for a fight. I readied to activate Critical Strike at a moment's notice.
Everyone's attention was on them, their breath stuck in their lungs from the sheer anticipation for this inevitable fight. It was like the world seemingly stopped, even the once shouting staff had shut up from this fight.
"Alright enough of this!".
Someone broke the tension, letting the world resume once again. All of us turned to the one who said that–the doors were wide open to reveal Lucian, wearing her white coat.
"It's the student council president!" I heard a student gasp.
"It is forbidden for fights to occur outside of class, stop this or do you want to get in trouble before even officially joining this prestigious academy," She had this aura of authority and power to her. Like you were compelled to listen to whatever she has to say.
In the corner of my eye I saw Lucian giving me a thumbs up.
"You pathetic excuse of a noble," The man snarled at Hana before leaving the cafeteria. Once he left everyone seemingly regained their breath again and talked about what just happened.
"You ok Maverick? He didn't hurt you too badly did he?" Hana helped me stand up.
I shook my head. "No it's fine, hey did you see where that bunny Endian go?" I looked around searching for Ayjin, but I didn't see her anywhere.
"No? Why is she a friend of yours?"
"Yeah something like that . . . "

Why was he here!
That question plagued Ayjin's mind, the question kept repeating over and over again, everything around her was all blurry because her mind was consumed by that one thought. Just seeing his face here of all faces almost made Ajjin puke.
She slumped down next to a wall, tears streaming out of her eyes as she silently cried.

All of us first years were in the academy's courtyard. Thankfully the courtyard was wide enough so it wasn't really a tight pack. All of us were in the middle of it right next to the giant fountain. Far away from us, near the sides of the building were the other years watching us–Lucian was even waving at me.
Next to me was Hana.
"Well come all first years, before we could start the ceremony and the test, I'd like everyone to give a round of applause to our most esteemed students yet, Ms Von Yue and Mr Vin Mae. Now please treat them with the utmost respect," Everyone around us started to applaud them, I joined in too.
I could see Hana was enjoying the praise. They beamed in delight, I couldn't help myself, but rolled my eyes at her. "Yes, praise me more!".
"Really Hana? Isn't this enough, like the other years are even the other years and all the staff are applauding," I gestured to the other older students and staff applauding at her, praising her too.
"I want more! I want all the world to praise me!"
"Isn't that embarrassing?" I said, I imagine if I was in Hana's shoes I'd probably die from all the attention I was getting.
"Why would I be? I've been in the limelight since the day I was born, I'm natural at this," She puffed in her pride.
"Now students as you know today is the ceremony, in which a test will be performed if you truly have what it takes to join this prestigious academy. Now all of you will be in teams, each one consisting of three members. Once you have chosen your teammates I'll use this Lost Tech to transport all of you to the Mana forest. There your sole objective is to kill one-hundred Demons, once that's complete you'll be automatically teleported here and officially join the academy," The Headmaster explained, he showed us a remote like device.
That sounds simple enough, it's just a big 'ol monster killing mission. I wonder what is a Lost Tech? I'll search that up later.
I was pushed aside because of someone heading straight to Hana, in fact all of them immediately ran over to Hana begging her to join them.
"Ms Von Yue, I calculate we will make an excellent team!"
"Join me!!"
"We Nobles should stick together."
"Please don't push! H-hey! Stop pulling me! Give me some room to breathe!" In the middle of this ocean of people was Hana, who was struggling as all of them kept overwhelming her with ther persistence to have her join them. I shook my head, well at least she has options. I think she'll be fine.
I saw Avoure having a similar situation to Hana, but with a stark difference of him seemingly enjoying the overwhelming attention, well like it or not Hana and Avoure definitely are the same, the aspect of loving the attention.
Walking over to a couple of people who weren't immediately hounding Avoure or Hana, and seemingly didn't have a team yet.
"Um, h-hey there c-"
"Nope."
What! I didn't even complete a sentence!
"R-really?"
"Go away."
"Ok, sorry for wasting your time . . . " I slump over and walk to another one.
"Can we team up?"
"With an average looking guy like you? No way," The guy then walked away.
Maybe the third time's a charm.
"Can we pretty please team up?" I asked another person.
"Sorry, but you looked hella weak and I wanna pass this test." He walked away–leaving me in the dust.
Good damn! Why does no one want to partner up with me! I could maybe find and partner up with Naobulim and the others, but they likely are already in a team.
I saw Ayjin, great! It seems like no one wanted to team up with her.
"Hey Ayjin!" I walked over to her.
"Hey there Jackson."
"You wanna team up?" I desperately hope she isn't already in a team.
"S-sure I'd love to team up with you," She gave me a soft smile. Nice!
"Oh thank god Ayjin, I wasn't rejected," I sighed in relief.
"Did you really get rejected that many times?"
"Yeah cause they said I was weak,"
"W-well I'm glad I get to team up with you, I w-wouldn't have it any other way," For some reason I couldn't shake the feeling she was uncomfortable in my presence.
"Hey Ayjin you ok?"
"Yeah I'm fine why wouldn't I be? Um, so Jackson I didn't know you were going to attend Arcane Academy."
"I could say the same thing, why didn't you tell me you're going to attend here? It was pretty shocking seeing you here," I walked to the nearest bench to sit, Ayjin also did the same thing.
"It was never brought up," She shrugged.
"Maverick, I finally found you!" Me and Ayjin look up to see Hana looking all sweaty pointing at me. She walked over to us, slumping on the bench.
"You ok Hana?" I asked worriedly.
"Yeah I'm fine, but those fools wouldn't leave me alone, they were like a pack of wolves hounding me."
"Thought you love the attention."
"I do love it, but not to the point it's annoying," She shook her head.
"So did you pick any teammates?"
"I want you to be my teammate," Wait me really?
"Wait really! W-why I'm pretty weak," I looked around me, all of their levels are above mine.
"Precisely, I know I can easily pass this test, but I doubt you can pass this test considering your strength. I want to team up with you so you can definitely get into Arcane Academy, She explained. Hearing how she's looking out for me gave me a warm feeling in my chest.
"Woah Hana, thanks alot, but why are you doing all that for an average guy like me."
"It's because I'm fond of you Maverick," She turned her head away from me; pulled up the red scarf to cover some of her face. "I think you're a decent guy. I wanna hangout more . . . "
"I-I feel honored Hana," my cheeks were heating up.
"Um, e-excuse me, I'm already partnered up with Jackson, you can go find someone else."
Oh crap! I forgot Ajjin was here. She pulled my arm to be closer to her. Hana's eyes seemingly narrowed. "What are you talking about? That's my partner."
"N-no! I partnered up with Jackson way before you did!" Woah, it's certainly shocking to see Ayjin acting like this.
"Look I'm way more powerful than you, if Jackson is with me he has a more likely chance to win this test," Hana crosses her arms.
I looked over Ayjin's level. Damn, it was pretty high being eighty. But Hana was right, she was stronger.
"I-it's always like this, you nobles!"
"What's that supposed to mean?" She glared daggers at Ayjin, oh god the tension in the air was killing me.
"Always how you're better than any other people because you got some money," Ayjin gave a glare of her own at Hana.
Crap I gotta end this at once. "What about all of us team up? The Headmaster said each team's need to have three members."
Both of them thought for a moment.
"Fine, I'll accept," Hana shrugged.
"No, I don't want to," Hana shook her head.
"Do you have to be this unreasonable," Hana shook her head.
Ayjin stood up and pulled me aside, quietly whispering in my ear so Hana wouldn't hear. "Jackson, are you really fine with teaming up with this arrogant noble?"
"Ayjin what's with you today? I had never seen you act like this before."
"Look Jackson I'm looking out for you, never trust a noble they're the scum of the Gaiea," She warned up.
"Look Hana can act like a jerk sometimes, but she's a good person I promise," I grab her hand, tightly holding it and gave her the most pleading puppy eyes expression I could make.
" . . . Fine."
Nice!
"Well it settled Hana, we'll all be a team."
"Nice job Maverick to convince an unreasonable person," god dammit Hana.
"Says from a dirty noble."
"Guys can you please get along for one minute!" I pleaded to both of them, miraculous at the same time they turned their heads away from each other muttering 'fine' underneath their breath.
A few minutes later the Headmaster spoke again. "Now then please huddle up with your teammates."
Well this is gonna be awkward. All three of us huddled together, I could feel the animosity between the two girls. Why me!
"Now then good luck to all of you and may Lady luck be on your side," The principal pressed the remote device.
Weren't in the courtyard no longer, instead we're in the Mana forest. Just the three of us alone.
"Come then, we gotta make haste," Hana runs deep in the forest, me and Ayjin follow closely behind.
"Be careful Jackson," Ayjin said.
Something came out from a bush, it landed in front of us. It had a massive hulking frame–deep dark red skin with furry legs and arms. Its head was entirely skinless, just a skull with two long horns.
I saw its level one-hundred-fifteen! Oh crap!
"T-this thing looked tough," Beside me Ayjin gulped nervously.
"This is nothing! Burn!" Hana was afraid. She pulled out her rapier from its sheath. Blazing fire burst from the ground heading straight into that Demon.
The fire colliding into the Demon made it scream in pain, the sound was horrible it was a piercing noise.
"The hell!" I covered my ears to block out the sound.
Once the flames died down I saw its hideous disfigured figure: Half of its face was melted revealing its skull; most of its body was burnt to a charcoal black color, bits of flesh can still be seen scattered throughout it; its entire left arm was gone, leaving only a fleshy stub.
"Crap that cost me a lot of Mana." Hana was panting heavily.
The thing roared, raging with absolute malice. It charged at Hana–but I acted first.
[10x Strength]
The familiar azure blue flames of Critical Strike engulfed my arm. With Mana Reinforcement I rushed towards the Demon, before it could even do anything I hit it in the gut knocking this thing into a tree–the tree fell on top of him.
"Is it dead?" Ayjin said.
"No, it's getting back up!" Hana readied her silver rapier.
The thing got back up, unlike Hana's attack which had actually damaged this thing. Mine barely left a scratch on it. Dammit!
[Calamity Point: 96]
It rushes towards Hana and punches her with its remaining massive arm. She'd block the attack with her rapier. "Crap!"
Gotta help her quick! I ran to the Demon and hit it with another Critical Strike–but it dodge instead its remaining arm clashed with my Critical Strike. Surprisingly it was a stalemate, I activated Critical Strike on my other arm and sucker punched this thing in the chin.
This knocked the hulking creature away from me by a good distance.
"I summon Shadow Fang!" I turn behind me to see Ayjin was surrounded by blue or purple runes. Blue or purple light engulfed her as beneath her the shadow expanded into a wide circle. Something came out of the shadow like it was water.
It was a giant oversized wolf, pure black in skin like a shadow, crimson beady eyes, and white as the moon fangs.
This thing leaps over me to the Demon, landing directly on it and starting to eat away at its flesh. The Demon tried to shove the black wolf, but flames summoned from the ground had burned the Demon's remaining arm.
It looked like Hana was the one who had done that.
"So your Arcana is summoning monsters, that's so cool!" I approached Ayjin, my eyes widened in amazement at such a cool ability–It reminded me of a certain spiky black haired boy from a manga I loved.
"N-not really, it's that cool per say," Ayjin turned her head away from us.
"Eh, I've seen better," Hana shrugged.
"So is that the only thing you can summon?" I asked.
"No, in total I can summon five Magical Beasts to come for my aid."
I nodded, then looked at the shadowy wolf, admiring how cool it looked.
"It's a Magical Beast eh? Must be a Lycrow," Hana said.
"That's r-right, I'm surprise you know"
"As a noble, it's my duty to be the most intelligent of the group!"
The shadow wolf crouched the Demon's with its fangs, causing a grotesque sound crunch sound. Finally killing this thing.
[CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE LEVELED UP TO TWENTY-FOUR!]
[72+ Points]
What . . . Is this actually real? I stared at the screen displaying the amount of points I recieved, did I really get seventy-two points! I rub my eyes to make sure I wasn't hallucinating or something like that.
"You ok," Hana walked over to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah I'm fine," I didn't really pay attention to her, more focused on how to spend these points.
[CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING THAT MUCH POINTS, THOU I' THE ROAD OF POWER]
"Let's head deeper," Hana said, and we all follow her.

Avoure slices the Demon's head with complete ease, barely a scratch was on him. Despite the fact this was a test he couldn't help, but felt utterly disgusted at the fact he was to get his hands dirty with this disgusting filthy Demon blood.
"Nice Job Avoure!" A Chubby small stature boy said, with small eyes and prim black hair.
"You're probably the strongest in this entire school!" A balding student said.
His two lackeys said, Devin and Omort. His so-called 'friends.' In reality he sees them as nothing more than useful pawns to be used. Truth be told the only reason he picked them was because they were slightly stronger than the rest and their nobility. Even then more on the latter part considering they aren't even that strong in the first place, just above average.
He'll gladly sacrifice these two parasites to partner up with his dear finance Hana. But for some reason she rejected him, instead picking that disgusting commoner. The mere memory of that bug made his blood boil. Now that he thinks of it, Hana has been acting unusual as of late; it's like she's more foolishly brave after being around that commoners.
Hmm, it's the responsibility of a fiancé to cull any bad influence that's affecting his fiancée. Who knows what kind of perverse plans that commoners have. A plan bloomed in his head.
"You two, I have a secondary objective I want us to complete," He'll have this two helo to make the plan go smoother, these two won't reject him they're like dogs: will do whatever you want as long as you give them rewards.
"Sure!"
"Let's do it!"
"There is a commoner scum I want us to deal with."
He knows they're being watched by the Headmaster and by the staff. Observing to see if they're fit to join the academy. But he wasn't worried the Headmaster was like these two, subservient dogs like they should be. Plus accidents happen all the time when you're dealing with Demons.
This one will be no different.
