The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the heavy thudding of my heart as Adrian's piercing eyes darted to the shadows.
"Maria, is there something you're not telling me?" Adrian asked as his eyes left the shadow part of my room then scanned my face face for an answer.
I could feel his scrutinizing gaze settle on me and I needed to make sure he never discovered Rosa was the one hiding there.
"What do you mean?" I asked, trying my best to make it seem like Adrian was being too paranoid for his own good.
Adrian's eyes returned to the corner of the room where I was sure Rosa was desperately trying to stay still and not make any more sounds that would give up her true location to Adrian.
"I think you know exactly what I'm talking about, so I will prefer if you don't try to lie to me and just come clean and tell me the truth" Adrian said and I could feel the tone if his voice grow deeper into something stern and dangerous.
