Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

"Mmm!" That was just perfect. She believed she could not have enough of it.

"Hmm-mmm!" Moaning some more, thinking it was the sweetest thing she had ever tasted. When it touched her lips, she felt her body come alive.

Damn! More of this, and she would probably explode, thinking of the delicious sensation that invaded her senses.

"As much as I want to continue this, I must go." A voice in her foggy, dream state of mind spoke to her.

She stretched her body in protest when she felt the emptiness of the bed. She reached out, but her hands only landed on blank air.

"No! Don't go." She heard her desperate cry, but it was to no avail.

Disappointment washed over her for a second before darkness consumed her once again. Then, she found herself continuing the dream.

The next thing she knew, a bright light passed her eyes. It tickled the skin on her lids, making them twitch and forcing them open.

"Uhh!" She had to shut her eyes closed again. "Who turned on the lights?" Slightly disoriented and in pain. Slowly, she felt the throbbing in her temples, mild but annoying.

After several seconds of massaging her head, she gradually opened her eyes again, only to close them abruptly.

"What the heck!" This time, she blinked repeatedly, wondering if her eyes were deceiving her.

Maybe she was still dreaming. But what was her dream again, as she seemed to forget? But her dream was the least of her problems as she stared at her surroundings.

No! It could not be happening as she found herself in a familiar bed and room. But definitely, it was not her apartment, no doubt about it.

"What am I doing here again?" She grabbed her head, rummaging her memories for answers.

The last thing she remembered was joining that man for dinner at her office. Then, how did she land on his bed? Again? Without any memories of what happened the previous night.

Damnit! Saige!

Damn you, Xavier Lockwood!

Unfortunately, it seemed that was not her only concern when she realized that she was once again naked underneath the sheets.

"Why does this keep happening to me? I am not an idiot, but..." She could not even answer what was wrong with her.

Quickly, she jumped out of bed, glad that at least she was alone. Her gracious host did not seem to be around as her eyes failed to see him in the room.

"Great! Just great!" She exclaimed as she realized another problem. She could not find her clothes again. Even her bag and phone were nowhere in sight.

With no choice, she rushed to the bathroom, taking a hasty shower. She just wanted to wash every horrible thought out of her head.

"Yeah, I am an idiot." She should not have drunk too much, realizing it was the only explanation for why she ended up in his bed again.

She had to get out of there. The sooner, the better. Once again, she would have to endure everyone's stare as she took another walk of shame.

Even though she would not be wearing the same dress from the night before, it made no difference since she would still wear oversized men's clothing that undoubtedly was not hers.

"Mrs. Lockwood, are you finally awake?" An unfamiliar voice echoed from the hallway when she stepped out of the bathroom.

Suddenly, panic struck her. Someone else was in the apartment.

"Mrs. Lockwood?"

A woman was calling for Mrs. Lockwood. Could that be his wife? Was he married?

Damn!

She did not know.

That son of a bitch!

Of course, she wanted to kill him. But in the meantime, she thought of crawling under the bed or hiding behind the clothes in the closet.

What would they think if they found her inside his room? Naked?

"Mrs. Lockwood? Do you want me to bring you breakfast, or would you rather have it in the dining area?" Then, followed by a gentle knock on the door.

Of course, she could not answer as she paced the floor, thinking of what to do. But it was too late when the door burst open, and a middle-aged woman stood by the entrance.

"Oh! I am sorry. I was only going to check on you. I did not mean to startle you, Mrs. Lockwood." The woman spoke before her. Her eyes focused on her. "By the way, I am Mrs. Pyke."

Wait!

It did not make sense as she raised her eyebrows at the woman, looking confused. She shook her head as if that would clear the fog that seemed to envelop her ability to process things.

"No! That could not be right." She mumbled as she stared at the unfamiliar woman before her. "No! There is something wrong here."

The woman gazed at her funnily as if the woman was the one confused. Then, she stepped a bit closer as if looking concerned.

"Mrs. Lockwood, are you alright? Do you want me to get you something for your headache? Xavier said that you might have a hungover from last night."

Fuck!

This woman referred to her as Mrs. Lockwood. That could not be right. That was impossible.

"But don't worry. Xavier would be back any minute now. He just had to attend a last-minute emergency meeting. But he promised to take you on a beautiful honeymoon."

The woman seemed delusional as she talked about more nonsense. All she could do was stare at her as if she were in a twilight zone or an alternate universe.

"Xavier said that he would take care of all your things. Anyway, I will get the new clothes that Xavier bought earlier." The woman smiled at her. "And I will also get that painkiller."

Then, she was out of the door before she could utter even a syllable. She was speechless.

But what the heck!

What just happened?

Why did that woman call her Mrs. Lockwood?

And honeymoon?

Was he delusional, too?

"I would not marry you, Xavier Lockwood, even if you are the last man in the world." She shrieked angrily at the nerve of that guy.

"But you already did."
