We had a few hours to stop in Triosa. The battle would soon begin there. The first stop we made was the palace, the League's base of operations. There I met Hausara, to whom I had entrusted the passive control of the nation. I explained the current situation and the hurry we had to bring this war to its conclusion. I asked him to gather the army near the borders with Cromelia and join the army of Shiitia. It would be the king and queen who decided the exact moment of the attack.
«My king, even if it was the last task I shall accomplish, I will help you to free Aostra from the dominion of the mad king of Avaloria.» Said Hausara bowing.
«Hausara, guide the Triosan men to their best. While you fight, I will kill that mad bastard. You are a great warrior, win the battle.» I answered. Then I headed to the chancellery, the place that Eimin and I were using as a home. The League stayed at the palace, waiting for my return. Only Lunim accompanied me to warn my sister. I knocked on the door.
«Brother, you are finally back!» Said Eimin.
«Hi, Eimin, did you receive the letter I sent you?» I asked.
«Yes, I have. Brother, Lunim, why don't you come in? You'll be tired after all this time.» My sister invited us. But we should have refused. Time was running out, and we still had a long way to go.
«Eimin, I'm sorry, we can't stop. We have signed the alliance, and to prevent Triosa from being attacked, we need to attack very soon. In the meantime I will kill the king of Avaloria, while Lunim and the League will kill the sorcerer who attacked us long ago. We must hurry.»
The smile she had been waiting since we left, disappeared from hee face in an instant. All hopes of being with his brother and his best friend again vanished in a flash.
«Eimin, I need you to wait here until we return, I promise that as soon as everything is over we will be together again.»
Eimin looked down, and all of a sudden, what was kept inside burst.
«Goldora, I understand why you're doing this, it's to protect me, right? I never asked that. All I ever wanted was to be with my brother, without him disappearing like my parents did. Since they left, you've been the only one to stay with me every single day and take care of me. All this was enough for me, that you risked your life for something I don't need is the last thing I wanted. I just want to be with my brother, no matter where and under whose command, I just want you here with me. I never thought anything negative about moving home, first from our house, then to the forge, then to Hausara's house, and finally to this stationery. It never mattered, because you were with me. I don't want to live with the thought that you might leave me at any moment, because you are the last thing I have left.» Eimin cried. Yes, a sea of tears was pouring out.
And without my noticing, I was crying, too, for the first time in front of my sister. I was a real idiot. How did I not notice? I always blamed my parents for disappearing... I was doing the same.
All my efforts were without purpose, without end, Eimin did not need it. I had killed hundreds of men just for her, a peaceful soul who wanted only one thing: to be with her brother, who without realizing it had become a murderer. I turned around and rode on the horse. Lunim entered the house, closing the door. I don't know what they said, I didn't want to listen. It was a long time, perhaps even an hour, but I did not have the courage to enter. Then Lunim came out, and before he could get on the horse so we could leave, Eimin approached me.
«Where are you going?» She asked me with his face again wet with tears.
«I'm an idiot. Since you started to stay with that Lord, you've become much smarter. You hate war, you understand people and their intentions better. I don't understand anything. I hate my parents, I hate the king of Avaloria, but I am like them. I am a fool who abandons his loved ones, who does not care about the means he uses to achieve his goals. Eimin I'm a fool, that you be with me is all I want, but I could not stop. My madness of a madman has become a cataclysm, I have lost all the justice that I had in me. Unfortunately, I'm not a reasonable being like you. I'll kill the king of Avaloria now, even if it's the last thing I do. I will free Aostra from this madness that goes beyond mine. If I have asked too much to save you, Eimin, then I will save thousands of people who are suffering from war. Wait for me, I'll be back before madness consumes me completely.»
I turned to Eimin, took courage to look at her face. She didn't seem as sad as before, but she was still not happy that I was leaving. Lunim rode on his horse, we returned to the base of the League and, together, we headed to Avaloria.
