Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Demon invasion part 4

By the time 40 seconds were left, Zyran and Alora found themselves in a corner, being tightly squeezed. Not wanting his sister to suffocate too much, Zyran gently pushed her behind him and then stood Infront of her, using his hands to lean on the wall behind her, both of them now facing each other.

Alora, who now stood facing her brother, found it hard to think straight. Not because of the situation but, because of her brother's presence. They were close, too close. She could see every detail of his handsome face. The messy black hair, the strong jawline and even the blue eyes with a unique purple tint. She could feel his warm breath brushing against her face, giving her a tingly sensation. Feeling her face starting to burn up. She hugged him, hiding her face in his chest. Which only further worsened the situation, since now there was literally no space between them.

Zyran, who was busy thinking about the situation going on outside, felt something squishy and warm suddenly pressing against him. He looked down and saw a little head buried in his chest. With the will of a sage, he held back the urge to put his hand were it shouldn't be, only gently placing it on her head before asking. "You okay?".

Alora who felt her brother's warm hand stroking her head, held back a moan. 'The hell's wrong with me?'. She composed her self, trying not to sound weird and replied. "Y-yeah, I'm fine". She still stuttered.

Seeing that she planned to keep her head where it was. Zyran let her be. Though he was starting to find it hard to control himself.

'This is wrong'. He mentally chastised himself.

While the Gravel siblings were lost in their thoughts. People were hurriedly entering the restaurant as the timer reached it's last 10 seconds. At this point, people abandoned their earlier order and started hurriedly rushing into the restaurant, kicking and pushing the restaurant staff that was supposed to help them carefully enter.

It was in a person's time of crisis, that they show their true colours. As the people coming from outside rushed in, they temporarily abandoned their humanity once they noticed that only a few seconds were left. Those who were handicapped, were pushed aside as they were too slow. Even as they fell down, none took the time to help them, even going as far as to step on them as they were lying near the entrance. Some were pulled back, some were punched aside, some were tripped, some even jumped on top of the crowd, stepping on people's heads.

People were scared, they were afraid that they'll be locked outside along with the demons. Either ending up being abducted or horribly killed. None wanted to end up in that situation and so, they all turned into the same thing they were afraid of and hurriedly pushed their way inside, not caring about those they harmed along the way.

The situation turned even more worse when the steel alloy shields started lowering down. At this point, they were mostly fighting the person next to them instead of entering, since if they turned their back, they'll be dragged back by the person behind them. The situation was happening in every building in the CBD.

Once the steel alloy shields dropped too low to walk past, people were forced to crawl under, unfortunately some would be dragged back before they were halfway through.

Alora who had her head buried in her brother's chest could hear the situation outside. Even though she couldn't see what was going on, she could tell it was bad due to the cries of pain resounding from time to time. It was hard to believe that this were the same people that were behaving normally earlier. Now they've all turned into savages fighting for survival, even going as far as to harm their own kind instead of lending a hand. She knows that they all want a chance at survival but, this sort of behaviour was unacceptable. If they all behaved like this in a dangerous situation, then what makes them different from the demons. What makes them different from those barbarians of the demon realm, that wouldn't hesitate to kill their own if it meant they would get what they want. It was truly a disgusting sight to see. Luckily she could only hear and not see the scene going on outside.

Finally the shields were at their last few centimetres, making the gap so small, only a child would fit in. This meant that no one was able to enter anymore, making the people outside mad as a wet hen. They stood there, outside the restaurant, watching their only hope for salvation slowly close away. Some cried out, begging for the shields to be raised again. While some tried to squeeze through the small gap, even if it meant being crushed and finally they were those that excepted their fate. The shields were closing and there was nothing that could be done about it. Once they close, they will not, under any circumstance open until all demons have been wiped out of the city.

The Moon City police force was not coming, fighting demons was not under their jurisdiction and even if they wanted to lend aid, they couldn't. For two reasons. Firstly they were human, their weak and slow bodies would be torn to shreds before they even noticed. Why not armour?, they've tried it and it worked, only on the demonic beasts. While for demons, who have a variety of powerful abilities, their armour would be made useless. As for the second reason, weapons. Their weapons aren't strong enough to truly harm the demons. Bullet's would either be melted or repelled, some even bouncing off as if they hit rubber. Why not bomb the demons?. Simple, it's not that the bombs don't work, they do work but they can only kill the weakest of demons, which is the lower class. While for the powerful demons like middle class and above. They would either fly out of trajectory, repel it back or just shrug it off. Not to mention the damage the bombs would cause to the cities and the lives that would be lost.

Humanities last and only hope was The Yeager Corps. An organisation that consists mainly of people who have awakened their dormant abilities. Only they have the power to go against the demons and come out on top.

BAM!

The steel alloy shield shut close, sealing off all the noise from within. This meant that the people within the restaurant won't know what's happening outside and vice versa.

After the steel alloy shield closed, the restaurant was temporarily drowned in silence. People were still in a state of shock, they found it hard to believe that just a few minutes ago they were minding their own business just for something like this to happen out of nowhere. To some it felt surreal, as if they would wake up at any moment, unfortunately that didn't happen. This was no dream, demons were invading moon city and they were all trapped there until help arrived.

While others were still finding the situation too hard to believe. They were those that finally realised how barbaric they behaved earlier, as the shame finally settled in. Now they'll have to live with the thought that someone out there, behind those alloy doors, is going to die because of them. Though some felt regret for their actions, they were those that didn't, for they knew that it was either they fought their way in or they get locked outside along with the demons.

:Back at the Gravel siblings.

"Hey Z, When will we get out of here?". Asked Alora, while finally removing her head from her brother's chest, though reluctantly.

Alora's question broke Zyran out of his train of thought. "I don't know, I guess until help arrives".

Not many were aware of the existence of TYC. They only know that there is a group of people that is capable of dealing with demons, they also know that this group of people work along side the government.

"Your not being squeezed too tight, right?". Zyran asked in concern. With so many people in the restaurant and them being stuck in a corner, it was hard to get some breathing room.

"Yeah, I'm doing okay. Though I'm not sure how long I'm gonna last standing like this". Alora rested her head on the wall behind her.

"Just try to bear with it until we get out of here". He was careful to only keep his eyes on her face and nowhere else.

"Are we actually safe in here?, from the demons I mean". Alora, noticed that Zyran had his gaze focused on her eyes, it made her feel... Weird. She couldn't explain the feeling and so she turned her head and look at the side as if admiring the wall.

"I heard they used a strong metal to build the shields, so they should hold long enough for help to arrive". Zyran noticed how Alora suddenly turned her head to the side. 'Was I staring to hard?'. "Hey, you doing okay?".

"Is it me or is it getting hot in here", Alora skipped Zyran's question and changed the topic. Though she wasn't lying, as she was starting to sweat.

'Is she purposely ignoring my question, why though?'. He was confused. "Your right, it is getting hot. They must have turned off the AC, though I can't think of a reason why...". Zyran couldn't finish his sentence because just then, he saw a truly fascinating sight. A drop of sweat trailed down from Alora's forehead, all the way down to her chin, before dropping down and disappearing between the valley of her chest.

*Gulp*.
