Team Rocket.
From what he could remember, they were the major antagonists in the first two generations of the anime and then became just plain nuisances for the franchise's poster child for the rest of his tenure as the "it boy."
But now that this was his new reality, all the threats they could pose grew tenfold in the lease. I mean he did wake in a pit of dead and decaying bodies, so if that wasn't an indication of how much of a threat these guys could pose, he didn't know what else could. He didn't want to think of that.
"Geo," the Geodude said, bringing his attention to it- him…
"…So, are you going to avenge your trainer? Or what?" he asked the Geodude.
He took a few moments to think, little rocks grinding together as his whole body moved while he was thinking. "Geodude, dude-geo, Geodude."
"I've no clue what you're saying. But if I had to hazard a guess you didn't like working for whoever this guy was yeah?" he asked, admitting he didn't really understand the Pokémon at all, but thankfully Geodude rolled its body, indicating he had got it right.
"Okay…the fuck do I do now?" he said aloud, turning his attention back to the man. His clothes were definitely too big for him, going by the size of his thin and frail arms and body, so he would have to see if he could find another pair somewhere. So turning around he made his way for the door, but suddenly a massive hand grabbed his leg, causing him to grunt in pain.
"Ow! The fuck was that for!?" he asked, turning a hateful glare at the Pokémon, he had finally started to grow numb to the pain and put it into the recess of his mind but with the rough hands of Geodude grabbing onto his leg it flared the pain once more.
Geodude however couldn't give a Rattata's ass, he simply pointed his big finger to the man's belt and that's where he noticed another Pokeball resting on it, as well as a bag of some sort.
"Dude…" he said.
"Dude to you too ass," he sighed. He moved to the man and grabbed the other Pokeball. He then turned to the Geodude and asked if he should release whoever was inside. The Geodude gave a whole-body roll and against his better judgment, he released the Pokémon. I mean he had its ball so he could just return it, so he took a chance.
In a flash of light, the second Pokémon this man owned appeared, and with it another rush of information, although this time there was no pain and it appeared quicker. He wasn't entirely too sure, but the no-pain was nice.
He already had enough pain.
"Sand!"
Pokémon: Sandshrew Age: 2 Gender: Female Type: Ground Potential: D+
Description: Sandshrew the Mouse Pokémon. It burrows into the ground to create its nest. If hard stones impede its tunnelling, it uses its sharp claws to shatter them and then carries on digging.
Moves: Defense Curl, Rollout, Scratch, Sand Attack, Poison Sting, Rapid Spin. Ability: Sand Veil
The Sandshrew materialized and immediately after calling out its name, it shrunk in stature. Geodude seeing this hovered over to its friend? And started to speak to i- Her. Seeing no immediate threat, he decided to see if the man's pouch contained anything useful, it was only about the size of a fanny pack he figured and its colour was mainly white…fanny pack? Why do I know what that is? Great, another thing he'll have to sort out once he is somewhere somewhat safe. When he unzipped the bag, he was shocked to find a dim light coming from it.
"What the…?" he said as he reached inside going further, and further, and further until the pack was two inches past his elbow.
"Now that ain't right…how the fuck?"
Only after he submerged his arm in the bag did he notice the symbol on the outside of the bag. A capital "S" tilted to the side a little with two smaller circles in the top half and bottom half of the curves. Also, there he noticed one of the little circles blinking softly, the top one. Curiosity overtook him, but he was smart and removed his arm first and then pressed the button, and like a fountain, things just started to come out of it, in a controlled manner but he still missed the first few items that sprung forth out of thin air.
"This is what I'm talking about!" he cheered, bringing the attention of the two Pokémon back onto him.
It appeared that this guy stuffed everything he found in the safe into his fanny pack. But how the hell did that even work? But its contents were what really drew my attention.
Amongst everything that came out, the strangest thing by far was a cylindrical tube housing of discs of some sort, TM's? Technical Machines? They're a real thing? He opened the case to find seven of them, none of them had names on them, or rather there were no names, but two of them had purple tones, two were blue, and the last three were all greyish/clear.
He knew what they could do but it was still surprising to find them, from what games he played, TM's were always fairly expensive to purchase but.
The rest of the contents were typical things you'd find in a safe, stacks of money or rather pokedollars as my memories provided me information on what they actually were. A couple of fine gems, no doubt some sort of rainy-day fund you get by selling them off to whoever.
Still no clothes though. The belt the Pokéball's and Fanny pack were on had different notches so he would be able to carry on them, he only had to take the belt of the guy.
A soft click echoed throughout the lab as the belt fell into place on his waist, still sagging a bit, the shortest the belt could go was still too big but it would suffice for now, it would not fall but would jumble around if he had to run. He attached the fanny pack with all its contents to it and held the Pokéball's of the two Pokmon before him, contemplating what to do with them.
"Sandshrew?" she asked.
"…I still don't know what you're saying, but I'm taking his stuff and getting the fuck outta dodge," I told the Sandshrew.
"San-Sandshrew," she said pointing towards her trainer.
"Dude-Geo," he said, motioning towards the pit.
"…you want to put him down the chute?" he responded, getting nods from both the Pokémon. Just what had the man done to these two Pokémon to hate him so much? Well, he was in Team Rocket after all, maybe he was abusive? That was probably the case.
"Do what you want, I could care less. Clearly, he did something to the two of you, once you have done that though I'm going to be making my way out of this place," he told the two Pokémon and no sooner than he finished talking, the Geodude grabbed the man by the head and dragged him to just in front of the chute, the Sandshrew made its way behind the Geodude.
"Sand! Sandshrew-Sand!" she roared, kicking the man in the chest and turning around and slamming her tail onto the man's arm. This caused him to wake.
"FUCK! WHO THE HELL DID THAT! Huh? Cobbler? Speck?" the man said, before being cut off as the Geodude slammed a glowing fist onto the man's legs, breaking them.
"HOLY SHIT! YOU FUCKING DUMB ROCK!" but was cut off before his tirade could continue as Pokémon pushed the man down the chute, screaming bloody vengeance upon his former Pokémon before he hit the floor of the graveyard.
More screams followed, as no doubt, he had probably landed on a Grimer, making quick work of its new meal.
He could only stare at the two Pokémon after they did the deed. This only further cemented the fact that this world wasn't all sunshine and rainbows as the game and anime presented itself as.
"Alright, that's that then you two. Best of luck and all that," he said, turning towards the door but stopping as a tiny paw grabbed his pant leg and tugged gently. Looking down he saw the Sandshrew holding onto his leg, fear coursing through her eyes. Something in his heart cracked at the sight, crouching down he slowly kneeled in front of the Pokémon and opened up his arms. It was here he finally got a good look at her.
Scars littered her poor body, running horizontally and vertically all across her skin or rather shell. One of her arms was slightly shorter than the other, the tip missing, when their eyes met, his heart cracked once more as he noticed she was missing an ear.
"You poor thing," he didn't know what else to say. How could people treat Pokémon this way? Weren't they supposed to be your partners? To fight as one towards your goals and dreams?
"I know I can't do anything to fix the past. But if you'll let me I can try and get you guys out of here. I may get caught and we could end up dead, but it's a chance. I return you guys to the wild or even give you guys to a Pokémon Center. They may know a way to help you guys."
The two Pokémon conversed once more, the conversation having come to an end fairly quickly, and both nodded at my proposal.
"Alright, I'll return both of you and I guess you'll find out if we made it or not next time you're released," he told them, his tone not very optimistic but it was a chance. The only one they may get. Two beams of light came out of the Pokéball and Sandshrew and Geodude disappeared, leaving him alone in the lab.
"…Here we go, guess my journey starts here…haha. Fuck that noise, Arceus knows if I'll make it out of here."
The hissing of the door opening announced the start of his journey.
Who knows where it will take him?
