Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Grid collected some dried leaves and small twigs in 5 minutes for burning fire and act as fuel. He also gathered some stones and some pointed & strong branches to make a temporary stove, ignite the fire, and pierce the silver rabbit's meat to roast it over the fire.

"Let's make the preparations first."

He made a temporary stove by arranging the stones. Then he put some dried twigs and leaves into the stove. He pierced the silver rabbit's meat by the pointed branches, there was no bone present in the meat. He lastly ignited the fire with the use of two stones, just like a human legend known as the Bear Grylls in the early 21st century.

Once the fire was ignited, he started maintaining the correct temperature for roasting the rabbit meat over the fire. He let the meat be cooked on slow heat properly. Before regression, Grid's cooking skills had reached master chef level with his insane dexterity, senses, and temperature control. Those abilities were still ingrained into his body and mind. This resulted in the current situation. Since the meat was lean and in strip form, as it was provided by the system, it was cooked very fast and evenly under Grid's senses and cooking skills. It took him around 30 minutes to roast the rabbit meat properly.

[The 'tasty' Silver Rabbit's Meat has been cooked.]

[The skill 'Cooking Technique' has been acquired.]

[Cooking Technique]

[Stage: Beginner | Level: 1

Make dishes with the food ingredients that you know how to make.

At least edible-grade dishes can be made.]

'Hmm... decent. I could have acquired at least an Advanced Cooking Technique skill if I had proper cooking equipment and ingredients. Anyway, I can level up the skill later.'

Cooking Technique—it was a production mastery skill of a chef, similar to the Blacksmithing Technique of a blacksmith and the Tailoring Technique of a tailor. In Satisfy, all classes had their specific mastery skills that could be learned or acquired according to the classes they possessed. Almost all of them could be roughly divided into 2 sections: combat mastery skills and production mastery skills. Sword Mastery, Spear Mastery, and Weapons Mastery were some examples of combat mastery skills.

At least edible-grade dishes could be prepared with the Cooking Technique from the very beginning if things were done correctly or a recipe was followed accordingly. The technique would also increase the probability of making higher-grade dishes after mastering the beginner stage and after that. The higher the skill level, the higher the probability of making dishes with a better grade would become. The skill Grid had just acquired was the Beginner Cooking Technique. Due to not having proper equipment and ingredients for cooking, he only acquired the skill at level 1. He didn't care though, as he would be able to level it up easily once he acquired proper ingredients and equipment for cooking.

'Let's eat it now and acquire the stat points.'

Currently, Grid's focus was on eating the Silver Rabbit's Meat and acquiring the extra stamina stat points. He didn't want to focus on the unnecessary things he couldn't control right now. He blew and ate the hot meat slowly. Although the meat didn't have much flavor due to not having any spices or salt, it was still very delicious, smooth, and cooked very evenly, not chewy at all. Grid finished it all in a few minutes.

[You have consumed the 'Silver Rabbit's Meat'.]

[Health will recover by 200 points.]

[Stamina will recover by 20 points.]

[Your health and stamina are already full. The recovery effect has been changed to a regeneration buff as compensation!]

[The regeneration rate of health and stamina has been increased by 100% for one hour.]

[The Meat of Silver Rabbit was cooked to a near-perfect stage. A close to the maximum amount of nutrients is provided.]

[Stamina has risen permanently by 8 points.]

The power of a unique consumable item for worthy beginners was finally revealed. Grid's health and stamina were already full before the consumption of the meat. His natural regeneration rate of health and stamina was already high because of the 1st effect of the 'Meditation' skill that was applied permanently.

Additionally, he hadn't lost any health points during the battle, only a few stamina resource points were lost due to the intense actions he had performed—which naturally regenerated to the peak value due to his Meditation skill. Grid didn't even have the amount of health and stamina points that the item recovered in total. Let alone Grid, no beginner possessed such an amount of stats at the moment. This resulted in a hidden feature being activated; the recovery effect was changed to a regeneration rate buff for an hour.

'Wow... This item has a hidden feature I didn't know of. Hmm... I don't have any observational or appraisal skills like Pagma's Eyes and Keen Insight currently. There might have been other hidden features, huh? Anyway, let's not dwell on this since I can't appraise such items for now.'

Grid didn't dwell on such things since he didn't have the skill to acquire the whole information yet.

'Hmm... I didn't get the maximum stat points as well. This may be because the meat got burned slightly in some places. I couldn't cook it to the perfect state due to the lack of equipment so it was bound to happen anyway. I still acquired 8 stat points, that's already a good result. If there are more such items in the future, let's not waste them in any way possible. With the regeneration buff active for an hour, now is the time to hunt the deer and see if there are more hidden field bosses for the beginners.'

***

Shortly after the consumption of silver rabbit's meat, Grid arrived at the lake shore and was ready to confront a threat known as the thirsty deer. He wanted to use the buff provided by the rabbit's meat to its fullest.

'Let's defeat the deer swiftly and hope to encounter the hidden field boss monster.'

He approached the deer openly to beat the hell out of them. The deer's physical attack power and agility were at least three times higher than rabbits, this made the deer a difficult target for level 2 beginners to handle. At least a team of 5 level 3 players was needed to bring down a deer in under 1 minute. But the current Grid was different... not only a deer, he could even defeat a herd consisting of a few of them.

The lone deer at the lake shore acknowledged Grid's presence and attacked him right after with a headbutt. All deer looked similar to the water deer on earth, they didn't have any antlers. The deer had two abilities: headbutt and kick.

Like before, Grid moved to a side by using the footwork of Link to avoid the deer's headbutt. Since he didn't even have enough mana to use either slash skills, he could only use his previous tactics and normal techniques. He used the footwork of Revolve to play out a long radius horizontal slash at the deer's legs who was already prepared to kick him in the chest.

Ptaak!

[Critical hit!]

[Thirsty Deer's legs have been fractured. It can't move for 30 seconds.]

Although Grid's physical attack power was increased after the stat investment in strength, even then, he deliberately used such a big movement to create the much-needed momentum so the attack would be a critical hit and enough to 'fracture' the legs of the deer. In the pitiful state of its leg fractured, it couldn't do anything against Grid. Time was of the essence to trigger the hidden event. Grid didn't delay any longer and used the Chop's movements to play out a vertical slash on the deer's neck.

Ptaak!

[Critical hit!]

[You have defeated a Thirsty Deer.]

[You have acquired 3 bronze coins.]

[You have acquired venison (deer meat).]

[15 experience has been acquired.]

It just took 2 strikes for Grid to hunt a lone thirsty deer in under a minute. Grid continued his efficient hunting method until he reached level 3 or triggered the hidden event. In the process, he killed many lone deer and a herd consisting of 5 deer.

He took down the 15th deer and reached level 3 but the hidden event was yet to be triggered.

[Critical hit!]

[You have defeated a Thirsty Deer.]

[You have acquired 3 bronze coins.]

[You have acquired venison.]

[15 experience has been acquired.]

[Your level has risen.]

[10 stat points have been acquired.]

Grid didn't lose hope, he had perceived that a certain number of beginner monsters were to be eliminated under a certain period to trigger the hidden event. Not paying attention to the notification windows anymore, he invested the newly acquired stat points into strength and agility for more effective hunting.

"Increase strength and agility each by 5 points."

[Your strength has risen.]×5

...

[Your agility has risen.]×5

Once his strength and agility stats reached 15, Grid became even more free-spirited and went on a hunting spree. He hunted down 3 more herds, consisting of a total of 19 deer after that. His non-stop hunting of deer paid off, and he finally got what he wanted. The hidden event was finally triggered.

[Critical hit!]

[You have defeated a Thirsty Deer.]

[You have acquired 3 bronze coins.]

[You have acquired venison.]

[15 experience has been acquired.]

[A total of 34 deer were hunted by you in 45 minutes.]

[A 'hidden condition' was cleared!]

[A 'hidden event' would be triggered!]

[The hidden field boss 'Golden Buck' has appeared!]

[The elite monster 'Swift Doe' has appeared.]

[The elite monster 'Swift Doe' has appeared.]

"Finally! Kuhahahat... This is amazing. My hope wasn't in vain."

Grid was very happy to find out that his guess was correct—more such hidden events for beginners did exist. He was very pleased to find out that his growth would be very smooth and swift at the starting of the game with the rewards system would provide. With regeneration buff from the silver rabbit's meat, he was ready to hunt the Golden Buck and its two minions...
