The stars above twinkled like tiny candles in the dark sky, and the soft sound of water from the fountain filled the silence between us. It felt peaceful, like the world around us had slowed down just for this moment.
Micah leaned back slightly, her hands resting behind her on the cool stone edge.
"You know, I wasn't sure if you'd even talk to me when I first approached you," she said, her voice quiet but filled with a hint of amusement.
I looked at her, confused. "Why would you think that?"
She chuckled softly. "You're always surrounded by your friends, and you had this... I don't know, distant vibe. Like you were building walls around yourself. It made me nervous."
"Me? Distant?" I frowned. "I didn't mean to come off that way. When did you see me with my friends? Aren't we only see each other in House Sabreblade?"
