Thanks to the bonuses, for the past two days, I have greatly improved in the Powerpoint.
Sigh!
I drop to my bed, it has been silent for the past two days, no more visits from Marc and Vincent. They left, and I accompanied them from behind not wanting to have a reason to ask them to stay. The academy had no rejection of dropping out in the middle of training but once you're gone, they do not take you back.

Hey ELL…
Yes…
Time is almost up, my first goal is to take down Damian and his crew and quickly advance to the next stage. Apart from improving my PowerPoint to purchase skills, how can I advance without being noticed by others?
Well, since you have leveled up, you can now access Quest which will give you bonus points and will also help in Experience point which will be of much help than the Powerpoint….
Quests? Why haven't I seen that choice before…
Before you had low potential but having leveled up you have shown a risen potential and can access the quest challenges.
Is that so… Then let's see it. Quest.
The screen loads before shifting to the Quest tab.
They are aligned just like video games, all labeled according to levels and only the first level is unlocked, the rest are all locked.
Accept Quest.
The screen in front of me lights up as I make my selection.
Quest: Bodyguard Mission - Level One
Reward: 100 E.P., +50 Bonus Points.
Before I can take a breath, a bright flash engulfs me. The ground disappears beneath my feet, and it feels like I'm freefalling through space. My stomach drops as I tumble into what feels like another world. Then, suddenly—solid ground. I land on both feet with a thud, the surroundings becoming clear.
A castle. Massive stone walls tower over me. The air smells of damp stone and iron. Guards in black uniforms patrol the area, their faces hidden behind sleek, black visors. They move in sync, like trained machines. The HUD in front of me blinks to life, the mission details appearing in glowing text:
Mission: Rescue the Client Held in B3.
Time Limit: 25 minutes.
A start button hovers above me. Without hesitation, I reach out and press it. The world hums around me, and a black, tinted helmet clicks onto my head, locking in place with a hiss. My vision adjusts, clearer and sharper than before. X-ray mode activates, highlighting the guards as red shadows in my visor, their movements and positions fully revealed.
[Armor Engaged: Bodyguard Armor Activated.]
[Weapon: Guard's Ward.]
[Time Limit: 25:00.]
A pulse of adrenaline hits me as the clock starts ticking. I grip the ward tightly and spring into action, running across the courtyard with swift, calculated steps. Ahead of me, the first guard moves along his patrol route. His red silhouette stands out against the cold stone backdrop.
Guard One – Target Acquired.
I close in, my footsteps silent against the ground. In one fluid motion, I swing the ward, striking him across the neck. The energy in the ward pulses, and the guard drops without a sound.
Guard One: Neutralized.
A number lights up on the HUD: 1/7. The countdown continues: 24:00.
I move through the castle corridors, the layout becoming more familiar as I rush forward. Two more guards come into view on my visor, both standing at the entrance to the stairwell. One leans against the wall, while the other checks his communicator.
Guards Two and Three – Target Acquired.
I crouch low, timing my approach. The guard facing away from me is my first target. I dart forward, using the shadows to my advantage, and strike him behind the knee. He collapses, and I finish him with a swift blow to his head. Before the second guard can react, I slam the ward into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him. A quick follow-up sends him crumpling to the ground.
Guards Two and Three: Neutralized.
3/7.
21:50 remaining.
I rush down the stairwell toward B3, adrenaline pumping. The narrow stone steps seem endless, but the mission HUD keeps me focused. My visor pings—another guard is stationed near the B2 floor. He's alert, more cautious than the others, his eyes scanning the surroundings.
Guard Four – Target Acquired.
I take my time, moving silently until I'm within striking distance. I leap forward, bringing the ward down hard on his back. He tries to grab his weapon, but I'm too quick, disarming him with a sharp twist before knocking him out cold.
Guard Four: Neutralized.
4/7.
19:30 remaining.
The door to B3 is just ahead. It's locked, but there's no time to waste. I slam the ward against the control panel. Sparks fly as the door slides open, granting me access. I'm close now—just three more guards to deal with, and the client will be safe.
As I step through the door, the final three guards appear on my visor, all clustered near the reinforced door at the end of the hall. This is it—the last obstacle before the client.
Guards Five, Six, and Seven – Target Acquired.
I need a distraction. My eyes fall on a loose piece of rubble near my feet. Perfect. I toss it down the hall, and it clatters against the stone wall. Two of the guards turn their heads, just as I hoped. I seize the opportunity, charging the closest one. My ward connects with his side, dropping him instantly.
The second guard swings at me, but I block his strike with the ward and counter with a hard blow to his chest. He staggers back, and I finish him with a sharp jab to his helmet.
The last guard is quicker than the others. He draws his weapon and fires a shot, but I dodge, rolling forward and closing the gap. With one swift motion, I sweep his legs out from under him and land the finishing blow.
Guards Five, Six, and Seven: Neutralized.
7/7.
I barely have time to breathe as the steel door slides open, revealing the client tied to a chair inside. I rush in, cutting the ropes and pulling them to their feet. The HUD blinks with the final notification:
Mission Complete.
Reward: 100 E.P. + 50 Bonus Points.
Time Remaining: 01:10.
Suddenly, the HUD flickers, and a new message appears:
[Skill Unlocked: Bodyguard Spear Technique].
Beep!!!
Another loud sound then a red rotating alarm as the world starts cramping, breaking in pieces of pixels. Each side goes back to the infirmary room and soon, even the attire is gone, am back in the room. I pant heavily, am actually feeling the effect.
I crawl up on the bed, the crickets chirping being audible now. Damn, looking at the wall clock, it's a quarter to eleven.

"ELL..."
"Yes, Lex?"
"Let's go to the next level. I'm feeling pretty pumped, and don't log off till we've reached a level where I've managed to increase my potential. Hell, if I can gain enough skill to reach Intermediate, that's the goal."
"User daily quest request...Permission granted."
And just like that, the world dissolves around me. The walls, the bed, the faint hum of medical equipment—all of it bleeds into pure white until I'm standing in a void again, a flickering mission tab right in front of me.
