What do I think? William didn't know what to think.
He sat in silence, eyes constantly narrowing and widening like he was conversing with himself.
"Do you…" Do you resent me? His gaze met hers before looking away. He thought for a moment, changing the question to something else. "Is there something you want?"
"I don't think you can give it to me." Keira's gentle smile shifted into a sly grin. Her eyes narrowed, watching the person she called 'Father' struggle with his conscience.
"There's nothing I can't give." William didn't like the way she was looking at him. It made him feel like he was dancing in the palm of her hands, while she looked down at him. "I can even give you your own island."
"That's quite the gift, Father." Her fingers covered her lips, giggling at the prospect of owning an island. "But what of it? Are you giving me the island because you want me to live far away from society?"
"What? No—."
