"Brother, how's the situation?" asked Izumo worriedly.
"Not good! My damn cousin threatened me! He said that if I spill the beans about what he did, he'll tell Miho, the girl next door, that I wet the bed when I was three!" Steel gritted his teeth in frustration at his cousin's devious scheme.
How could his cousin involve Miho, the neighbor girl? That completely ruined his shining image!
"I've got an idea," Izumo said after thinking for a bit. "Use your youth as an excuse to play at his house. Go into your cousin's room and mess it up. Even though you're the one who caused the mess, if he doesn't clean it up in time, he's the one who'll get in trouble. Do this a few times, and he won't dare act arrogant anymore!"
Steel's eyes lit up with excitement. With Izumo's brilliant strategy, he felt like the First Hokage being guided by Tobirama. If this worked, he'd definitely treat Izumo to some snacks.
Mu Yue, who had just walked into the classroom, overheard their conversation and couldn't help but smile to herself. These two really were like inseparable schemers.
"Let's start the lesson!" Mu Yue called out, heading up to the podium.
"Chakra is the foundation for performing ninjutsu. It's created by combining physical energy from the body and mental energy from the mind."
Most of the students listened attentively since this was one of the most crucial basics of being a ninja.
As Mu Yue explained, she occasionally released her own chakra to let the students feel it. During the lesson, she also told a few jokes and stories to keep things lively, while asking questions to deepen their understanding.
Soon, the four classes were almost over. Just before the bell, she noticed Anko at the front of the class still asking questions with a bright smile on her face. Curious, Mu Yue used her ability to assess Anko's potential.
[Name: Mitarashi Anko]
[Potential: A]
Mu Yue thought for a moment, then assessed all the students in the class.
[Name: Tetsu Hagane]
[Potential: B-]
[Name: Kamizuki Izumo]
[Potential: B-]
Mu Yue was surprised to find that, excluding Shisui, only four students in the entire class had a potential of B or higher. Besides Anko and the two "gatekeepers," there was only one other student she didn't remember well who also had B- potential. The rest of the class had C or worse, with a few C+ or C- students, and even some with D potential.
This made Shisui's talent stand out even more—his ability was truly miles ahead of the others.
Anko's potential also surprised Mu Yue a bit. In the original story, Anko never became particularly strong, but here her potential was rated much higher than the two "gatekeepers."
However, Mu Yue didn't have any immediate plans to take Anko as a disciple. She couldn't take on students indefinitely—there were only four spots available, and Shisui had already taken one. That meant only three spots remained. Although little Anko was quite cute, Mu Yue reminded herself that good looks didn't matter—Danzo wouldn't let her leave the Root just because of that.
[Lesson complete. Finalizing results.]
[Evaluation: A]
[Reward: Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu]
"This is a great jutsu, but it's not all that useful for me right now," Mu Yue thought to herself.
As one of Naruto's main techniques throughout the series, the Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu was certainly a versatile and practical ability. If you had enough chakra, it was incredibly useful in both combat and training. But the one thing Mu Yue lacked right now was chakra, so she couldn't fully take advantage of the jutsu.
After lunch, Mu Yue returned to the teacher's lounge. A few other teachers were busy giving advice to their colleague, Ikeya Yu, who had a date coming up soon.
"Make sure to dress up nicely before the date," said a tall, lanky male teacher. "You don't want her to think you're a slob."
"Come on, Sugimoto, give me some credit. I may have never dated before, but I know that much!" Ikeya replied confidently.
"I think your biggest issue will be not bragging too much during the conversation," Ueda Aya interjected, already imagining how it would all end. She shook her head slightly.
"Just you wait, Ueda!" Ikeya shot back with a smile and a defiant tone.
Ueda simply shrugged and responded lightly. Noticing Mu Yue's entrance, she greeted him warmly.
"Yue-sensei, you're amazing! I passed by your class today, and the atmosphere was so lively. I can't believe this is your first time teaching!"
Mu Yue humbly shook his head. "No, no, it's all thanks to your great advice and the students being so cooperative."
Even though she knew Mu Yue was just being modest, Ueda couldn't help but smile. Everyone enjoys a compliment. She even gave Mu Yue a bit of her snacks as a token of appreciation.
Seeing this, Ikeya immediately felt the sting of favoritism. He'd been colleagues with Ueda for two years and barely ever got any snacks from her!
After exchanging pleasantries with the other teachers, Mu Yue took out the ink and paper he had prepared in advance and began practicing calligraphy. In his previous life, learning calligraphy was one of the few good habits he had picked up after taking a class at university.
Since the break at the ninja academy was short, there wasn't enough time to go somewhere and train. Practicing calligraphy during his downtime became a peaceful routine for him.
When it was almost time for the next class, Mu Yue packed up his things and headed to the classroom.
Just as the bell rang, Mu Yue stepped into class 4B.
"Wait, isn't Ikeya-sensei supposed to be teaching Konoha history this afternoon?" one of the students asked in surprise when they saw Mu Yue enter.
"Ikeya-sensei has something to take care of this afternoon, so I'll be taking over," Mu Yue explained, walking up to the podium.
Before he could say anything more, a hurried figure rushed into the classroom.
"Sorry, sensei! I ran into an old lady on the way here and helped her out, so I'm late!" Obito explained between heavy breaths, hands resting on his knees.
"Just sit down and pay attention," Mu Yue nodded, then glanced around the room, quickly assessing all the students.
[Name: Nohara Rin]
[Chakra: 300]
[Potential: A-]
[Name: Might Guy]
[Chakra: 600]
[Potential: S]
[Evaluation: Suitable for taijutsu. Recommended as a disciple.]
[Name: Uchiha Obito]
[Chakra: 650]
[Potential: S]
[Evaluation: Six Paths bloodline. Space-time talents. Recommended as a disciple.]
Class 4B was similar to his first-year class. Aside from Rin, Guy, and Obito, there was only one other Uchiha named Tetsuha with A-level potential. The rest were mostly C or D level.
After reviewing their talents, Mu Yue asked about their current lesson progress and then began teaching.
The students were pleasantly surprised by his teaching style. Compared to the usual teachers who just read from a textbook, Mu Yue's approach was much more engaging.
Obito, especially, was quick to say, "Mu Yue-sensei, you're amazing! If you always taught us, I'd definitely pass the exams!"
"I'll make sure to tell Ikeya-sensei that," Mu Yue replied with a laugh, adding, "and I'll let him know you were late too."
Obito's face immediately fell, and he begged for mercy, knowing full well that Ikeya Yu was their homeroom teacher.
Obito's antics brought even more laughter and joy to the classroom.
During the next break, Mu Yue activated his sensory jutsu, and after confirming there were no issues, he called Might Guy and Obito aside.
There's still one more chapter coming later tonight, but I might post it tomorrow, depending on the time!
