"What did you just say to me?" Serena's eyes narrowed and she clenched her delicate fists.
Her actions only attracted an indifferent glance before Damon simply walked away.
"Did he just walk away from me?" Serena was stunned.
While most men wanted her, the rest were afraid of her. She was the daughter of a powerful Marquis and a talented heir to her family's heritage. Every man that has come across her felt either love, lust, or fear, but from Damon, she felt nothing.
Just indifference.
"That's impossible." She muttered under her breath.
Her gaze lingered on Damon's figure until he left the room.
…..
Thud!
Damon walked down the lonely corridor of the Hail family without any destination in mind. He came across a few guards and servants but nothing interesting.
As a guest, he couldn't search any room in the castle, so he just strolled in the open where the guards could see.
Bam!
Damon heard what seemed like two heavy beasts ramming into each other. He quickly walked over to the massive windows and from there he could see two wolves fighting while a girl his age cheered excitedly.
His arrival at the window caused all three of them to freeze even though he was two floors above them. The wolves and girl turned their attention to the window where Damon stood.
"As sensitive as ever. Typical wolves." Damon said before grabbing the edges of the window and jumping off.
Swoosh!
The girl's mouth twisted, creating an O shape as he descended fiercely.
"Zeph!" Damon's eyes revealed a gray light as a mild outburst of wind erupted from his body just moments before he hit the ground.
The wind outburst broke his fall before he hit the ground.
"Ouch…." Damon frowned as his knees and palms felt numb.
He would have hurt himself if he hadn't used the wind outburst to break his fall.
"Cooool!" The girl screamed excitedly and ran over to Damon, while the two wolves approached slowly, their murderous gaze pinned on Damon.
The girl had long black hair with a full, plump chest. Even though they were the same age, her curvy hips made people think otherwise. If Serena was the definition of calm beauty with a bad attitude, this girl was a bad bitch with a jovial attitude
Damon ignored their glares and picked himself up. He watched the girl watch over with a look of surprise on her face.
"You are not scared of my pets?" She asked with a bright grin.
"Damon Ross." Damon ignored her question and stretched his hand for a shake.
"The bastard?" The girl blurted out while she shook his hand.
{She has no filter. She's perfect for you.} The voice laughed.
"I'm not a bastard. Just an adopted youth with big dreams and the magic affinity to back it up." Damon remained calm.
"I see… Well, I am Lara… Lara Hail." Lara introduced herself before turning to her approaching wolves.
"He is Slaughter and she is Danger." Lara pointed at the two gray wolves standing behind her.
Only after getting close did Damon realize these two wolves were about six feet tall on all fours.
"What a weird name to give your pets." Damon said, still unfazed by the presence of the two beasts, even now they were close.
"You are really not scared of them." Lara was genuinely stunned.
Most people their age were terrified or at least cautious of her wolves, yet Damon didn't seem bothered.
"I just jumped off a window, do you think these two scare me?" Damon asked with a raised eyebrow, and Lara laughed hard.
At that moment, the sounds of approaching footsteps could be heard, stealing their attention. A young man with a Mohawk haircut walked over. He was dressed in a tight black shirt and trousers, breathtakingly detailing his physique.
"Micheal!" Lara called out and ran over to him, while the threatening wolves turned into excited puppies while they chased after Lara.
Damon patiently watched Micheal hug his little sister while the wolves wagged their tails and barked excitedly like dogs.
Sigh!
"Micheal, come over. I made a new friend today. He's Damon Ross, he's not actually a bastard, he's just a peasant!" Lara said excitedly, while Damon felt like slapping his face.
He could hear the voice's hysterical laughter in the background of his mind.
"Damon Ross… I am Micheal Hail, heir of the Hail family… Nice to meet you." Micheal extended his hand.
"It's nice to meet you… I apologize if I'm interrupting anything, I was working down the hallway of the third second floor, and I was shocked to see two wolves fighting. I knew I had to jump down and get a better look." Damon shook Michael's hand with a gentle smile.
"Oooh? A gutsy type?" Micheal looked at the window Damon jumped from with genuine shock.
Damon wasn't a trained fighter or a magic knight. There was a possibility he could have gotten hurt jumping from that height, but he still went through with it without a second thought.
His courage left an impression on Michael.
Micheal had seen Damon jump and cast the wind spell. It was shocking a mere peasant from a small village could perform primary magic of that level.
It's either Damon had a high-class core or has practiced primary magic for so long to reach that level of proficiency.
Micheal also noticed Damon's build and was impressed. Most people with an affinity for magic don't bother building their magic. To have good magic and also an impressive physique was truly impressive.
"Lara and her pets were only warming up for tonight's hunt. Are you interested in tagging along?" Micheal asked with a raised eyebrow.
"What are we hunting?" Damon asked.
Lara and Micheal exchanged glances before they both spoke the name in unison.
"Fox spirits!"
