Chapter 4 - 4

**Chapter 4**

The room was dark, lit only by a hanging lamp that swayed slightly, casting dancing shadows on the walls. The rival mafia boss, Don Alessandro, entered with an air of confidence, but when he opened the box on the table, his heart stopped. There, on a bed of ice and despair, lay the head of his daughter, Isabella, her eyes still open, as if crying out for help.

The sight was a devastating blow. Don Alessandro felt the ground open beneath his feet, a scream caught in his throat, the air he couldn't breathe. He fell to his knees, the reality of what had happened settling like a poison in his veins. Grief turned to anger, and fury began to burn inside him like an uncontrollable fire.

Beside Isabella's head, a piece of paper was stuck, Gabino's message. Trembling, Don Alessandro picked it up, his eyes blurred with tears, and read the words written in cruel script:

*If you falter, Don Alessandro, I will behead your eldest son. Remember what happened to your heiress.*

Each word felt like a dagger stuck in his heart. The threat was clear, and Gabino's contempt radiated from the letters. Don Alessandro felt the pressure of the world on his shoulders, a broken father, a boss who now found himself in a position of vulnerability. Isabella's blood still stained his hands, and the pain of loss consumed him.

The anger quickly turned into an insatiable desire for revenge. He could not allow Gabino to go unpunished. What had been a power struggle had now become a personal matter. The image of his daughter's head, a symbol of his enemy's cruelty, had become the spark that would ignite his determination. He swore that he would pay dearly for this atrocity.

"I won't let you get away with it," Don Alessandro muttered to himself, his voice thick with hatred. He stood up, his mind racing with plans for retaliation. The war between them had only just begun, and he would do whatever it took to protect his family and restore his honor.

Gabino thought he had won, but Don Alessandro was far from defeated. The flame of vengeance burned in his heart, and he was willing to do whatever it took to end Gabino's reign of terror. The city was bracing for a clash of the titans, where every decision could mean life or death, and the line between justice and vengeance was becoming increasingly blurred.
