Chapter 18 - Admirers

Natasha grimaced as she dodged more bullets, skillfully weaving the car through heavy traffic while breaking every rule in the book. "Perks of the job," she muttered with sarcasm, her expression focused.

Dave looked around as he saw many people coming out of their cars, cursing, but retreating and fleeing as they noticed the bullet marks appearing on the road.

Dave, leaning back casually, grinned. "Using your full authority to break as many laws as you want, huh?"

She shot him a brief, unreadable glance. "I could slow down... if you're eager to catch a bullet to the head?" she quipped.

"Not with me around," Trish chimed in, keeping her eyes on the bullets zipping past.

Maya Lopez with her powers tried to capture Trish movements but after a try that end up snapping her bone for applying too much force she stopped as Trish also generously heals her.

Natasha refocused on the road. "So, care to explain why you have a killer on your tail?"

Dave exchanged a glance at Diana, who clutched his arm, trying to hold herself steady amid the high-speed chase. "You know there's a seatbelt for that, right?" he thought, before answering Natasha, "Money tends to get you a few unwanted admirers."

"And one of your admirers seems very eager to put you out of business," Natasha remarked sarcastically, swerving to dodge another round of gunfire.

Dave shrugged. Natasha tapped her earpiece. "Who's behind the hit?" she asked.

A voice crackled in response, "It's one of the Ten Rings operatives."

"Who ordered it?" Natasha pressed.

"Obadiah Stane," the agent responded. "Looks like he's not thrilled about Dave becoming the second-largest shareholder in Stark Industries."

Natasha raised an eyebrow, glancing at Dave. "Looks like your little investment ruffled some feathers."

Dave's eyes narrowed as he noticed the snipers on the roof, all aiming at him. "A common occurrence. Everyone wants to be in the business," he replied, his voice dripping with nonchalance. He glanced over at Trish, his smirk hidden as he thought, I wonder what they'd think if I revealed I was Dante, the one who one-shot Abomination.

Trish caught his glance and raised a brow. "Aren't you bored? Go kill him," Dave suggested, his tone casual.

"I was giving the lady some time to shine," Trish said, nodding toward Natasha, who glanced back at them, frowning in confusion at their cryptic exchange.

Dave leaned in, gently holding Trish's chin, his eyes locking onto hers. "My love, Our beautiful driver has had her moment to shine, but now it's getting uncomfortable. Would you mind taking care of Sniper?"

Trish smiled sweetly. "Of course, anything for you." Lightning crackled in her hand, and in one swift motion, she hurled a bolt at the sniper.

The sniper, equipped with advanced military tech, had just a moment to register the strange energy before his expression froze in horror. The lightning spear pierced through his sniper barrel and obliterated him without a trace, leaving no time for him to even blink, much less feel any pain.

"Alright, you can slow down now," Dave said to Natasha, but she kept her foot on the gas.

"If I do that, it'll look suspicious," Natasha replied, her voice steady as the car sped toward an abandoned factory. Dave shrugged, knowing she had a point. Soon, they arrived at the rusted, deserted location.

Dave stepped out, looking around. "Hmm, quite the charming spot you've picked," he said sarcastically, taking in the dilapidated surroundings.

Natasha rolled her eyes, leading the way inside, while Maya, Diana, and Trish followed Dave closely. As they walked through the factory's creaky doors, Dave smirked. "You know, I feel like a king, surrounded by so many beauties," he quipped and then with a sly smile he added " And going to an abandon factory for some naughty stuff"

Maya and Natasha kept their expressions neutral, ignoring his playful comment, while Diana muttered under her breath, "Shameless."

Trish, however, playfully nudged him. "You can, if you want it" she teased, making Natasha and Maya exchange quick glances. Though both women thought he is handsome, they couldn't imagine any woman being comfortable sharing him with others.

As Natasha murmured to herself, "I wonder how it feels to be loved," she approached the aircraft and removed the cover, revealing a sleek, compact plane.

"Wow, this is our ride?" Dave asked, eyeing the small aircraft capable of carrying about ten people.

"Yes, it is," Natasha replied, her tone professional. "This will take us to the SHIELD base."

Everyone climbed aboard, and as they settled in, the windows suddenly darkened, blocking any view of the outside. Natasha noticed the curious looks from Dave and the others.

"The location is hidden—classified. Visitors don't get to see where they're going," she explained, glancing briefly at Dave before turning her attention back to the controls.

"Well, that's no fun," Dave said with a smirk, looking at her playfully.

Natasha ignored his comment and started the aircraft, smoothly taking it into the skies.

Dave closed his eyes, thinking to himself, "Though one thing I know, it's airborne." He smiled faintly, knowing full well that even if the SHIELD Helicarrier was directly above them, Natasha wouldn't take them straight there. She'd make some detours, giving the impression that the location was much farther away than it really was.

With that in mind, he simply leaned back, closed his eyes, and waited patiently for their arrival, not like he can do anything else.

After an entire hour, Natasha finally decided to land the plane. As they felt the aircraft descending, Dave opened his eyes, sensing the shift. Upon landing, Natasha smoothly navigated the plane, constantly glancing at the monitors as she guided it deeper into the facility. The doors sealed behind them as the aircraft entered the inner chamber. Once secure, Natasha removed the dark coverings, revealing the true location.

"Hmm, you were really serious about this," Dave remarked, looking around. The surroundings, was like an inside of an big building, were clearly the interior of the Helicarrier, a hidden marvel from the outside world.

'Howard Stark must have designed this along with Zola, who also decided to add his Hydra within SHIELD' Dave though looing around.

"Mr. Garcia, welcome... arggh!" Phil Coulson greeted with a smile but was abruptly cut off by a punch to his gut from Dave.

"That's for lying to me about my dad," Dave said coldly, glaring at him before walking past.

Coulson, clutching his stomach in pain, straightened up with difficulty. "I never lied about it, Dave. He was really my friend—a close one. I still regret not being there for him," he said, his voice sincere as he looked at Dave.

Dave's eyes narrowed. "I don't trust you, Coulson," he replied sharply.

"I'll do anything to earn that trust," Coulson said, his tone steady despite the pain.

"Suit yourself," Dave muttered as he continued following Natasha, who was leading Maya to meet Nick Fury. Trish glanced back briefly at Coulson, her expression unreadable, before moving on.
