Natasha continued leading Dave and his group through the SHIELD facility, her mind drifting back to when she kicked him square in the face. "He didn't even budge... like I kicked a wall or something," she thought, glancing at him discreetly. Dave walked calmly, seemingly unaffected, while a few SHIELD agents followed close behind, keeping an eye on him.
After the earlier confrontation, Fury had ordered his people to stay on Dave, even though Natasha knew it wouldn't matter. She understood that Trish, the girl with him, could take down the entire team in seconds if she wanted to.
Natasha stole another glance at Dave, her curiosity piqued. What is he? The man had just threatened to kill everyone on board, and she couldn't forget how easily he had handled her, as if it was nothing.
They arrived at a heavily secured door. Natasha stopped in front of it, her expression composed again. "We're here," she said, gesturing toward the entrance.
Natasha placed her hands on the scanner, and the door slid open, allowing Dave and his group inside. As Dave stepped in, his eyes were immediately drawn to the armed agents, all holding weapons that were clearly not ordinary. His lips curled into a smirk.
"I really wonder what those toys can do," Dave mused, his gaze locking onto the one-eyed man standing in the middle of the room—Nick Fury, hands behind his back, exuding his usual air of authority.
"Mr. Garcia," Fury began, his tone measured. "It seems you've had some... unpleasant encounters with us. Hopefully, we can smooth things out here," he added dryly.
Dave chuckled, eyes still scanning the advanced tech in the room. "I depend on you for that, Fury."
Dave's thoughts wandered as he took in the sight of the weapons, instantly recognizing them. "These are the same ones Coulson used to blast Loki... Already deploying those, huh?" he thought, recalling where he had seen those cyberpunk-looking guns before.
"Of course," Fury responded, his single eye narrowing slightly. "But I think it depends more on you... and your partner." He turned his gaze toward Trish, who simply waved her hand dismissively with a charming smile, unfazed by the tension in the room.
Fury's subtle hint was clear—he knew Trish was dangerous, possibly the most dangerous person in this room, but for now, the balance of power remained delicately poised. The question was, for how long?
"You don't have to worry about her, Fury," Dave said calmly, pulling out a chair and sitting down, unbothered by the tension. "Just tell me how my father's location was leaked, and I will leave... peacefully."
He motioned toward Maya. "By the way, this is Maya Lopez, a good girl wanting to join your SHIELD."
Maya, standing firm, added coldly, "My decision to join will entirely depend on whether your father's death was a blunder on SHIELD part or just an accident." Her eyes were fixed on Fury.
Dave shrugged and leaned back in his chair. "Well, you heard her."
Fury's single eye flickered with recognition. "Maya Lopez... also known as Echo, an assassin trained under Kingpin. You think I'm eager to have you join SHIELD?" Fury's voice held a touch of skepticism.
Maya smiled, undeterred. "Give me one chance, and you'll see what I bring to the table." Her voice was sharp, full of determination.
Dave, watching Fury's stunned reaction for a brief moment, rolled his eyes inwardly. "What did he even expect after saying those words?" he thought.
Fury looked at Maya and nodded, saying, "I will discuss your recruitment later." His attention then shifted to Dave, who sat calmly with Trish now on his lap. "Why don't we deal with your matter first?" Fury suggested, his tone calm.
Dave nodded, signaling for Fury to proceed. Fury sat opposite him, leaning forward. "We did our research—"
Before Fury could finish, Dave cut him off. "Before you say anything, just letting you know, Trish can sense if someone's lying or not."
Fury glanced at Trish and sighed, straightening his posture. "Yes, it was one of our agents who leaked the information about your father's location. You know him," he said carefully.
"Albert," Dave responded coldly.
"Yes, and you've already dealt with him," Fury confirmed, recalling how Dave had killed Albert, his supposed bodyguard, back at Fisk's office.
"He couldn't have acted alone," Dave remarked, suspicion lingering in his voice.
"We're still investigating," Fury replied. Dave glanced at Trish, trusting her demonic powers to detect any deceit. Trish gave a subtle nod, confirming that Fury was telling the truth, though Dave knew Fury might not yet be aware of the Hydra infiltration within SHIELD. "Even his visit here isn't a threat to SHIELD," Trish thought, "but rather a warning to him about the rats in his organization." Fury would eventually realize the magnitude of the problem once he started cleaning house.
Dave don't want to interfere too much and disrupt the future events, as it may lead to catastrophic future for him, like the Reality and Mind stone not coming to Earth.
And if they don't arrive, how can he obtain them? So, he is interfering but at a level which is not enough to disrupt future flow.
"He's not lying," Trish said, leaning forward to kiss Dave on the lips, once gain taking in all the corruption from Dave, the Demonic energy earlier has used the chance when his anger spiked, to try to corrupt him, Dave was able to control it, but now he had control it enough for the day.
"Hmm, I guess we can stop here for now," Dave said as he stood up. "But you're running out of time, Fury. Either find the killer fast... or be killed."
Fury remained unfazed and met Dave's gaze as he responded, "I'll make sure that moment never comes."
"I really hope so, I would feel bad afterall " Dave said as he looked at him with smile as he added " You know, killing the boss of my Dad" he sad as he turned around and began to leave.
