"Or-Darion!! When are you going to finish reading? I want to go home already!" She exclaimed. Hannah was growing impatient as she watched Orin read. She liked going home with Orin, and she usually waited for Orin to finish up reading and go along with him. But today was a special day. It was one of her brother's birthdays, and before she could invite him, her father told her to invite him to the birthday, which made her really happy.
"You can go ahead if you want; I have 3 more pages to read before finishing this book," Orin said. "Or you can wait a few more minutes without disturbing me so that we can go together quickly." He added, followed by a pout by Hannah as she kept quiet and waited for Hannah while she stared at him reading.
After shelving the book, Orin left the school with Hannah. "Tonight there will be so many delicious foods. I will eat so much!" Hannah said, her eyes shining with excitement as she gulped some of her saliva while daydreaming about the food. Orin, however, was excited for an entirely different reason.
Today was the day they were going to make the soap public. Phil had invited many wealthy and influential figures to today's birthday party and was going to advertise his soap. Orin reached his temporary home, near Phil's residence, where he and his father lived. His father was also invited as one of the Phil's trusted workers.
Looking at Orin dressing so nicely made Mortimer extremely happy and satisfied. He had never thought or even dreamt that this would be his life, and he was extremely grateful to his late wife, Orin, and his current employer for making this happen. Especially Orin: he was a very filial kid.
Both dressed nicely and finally headed to the party. Mortimer wasn't oblivious to his son's dealings with Phil, and he knew what was going to happen today, so he was just as excited. After reaching the place and greeting the party host, Phil, they sat down on a table and started eating the appetizers.
"Have you gathered all the materials I asked you to?" Orin inquired quietly. "Yes." Phil whispered with a slight nod, "Feel free to make yourself at home and enjoy the party." He added and promptly left Orin and his dad on their own.
Since the party was full of influential people of the town, they garnered quite an attention, which soon disappeared after knowing they were just some workers who worked at their business.
*CLING CLING CLING*
Everyone's attention now shifted to the center, where Phil was standing, holding a metal glass in his hand. "I would like to thank everyone in this room for taking your precious time and coming to my son's 14th birthday party. On this joyful occasion, I'd like to share some equally wonderful news." He then gestured for one of his servants to bring the soap out.
The servant then brought out a velvet cushion, where lay the soap, which was covered by a luxurious cloth. He proceeded to hand it over to Phil delicately, as if it were something extremely precious and fragile. Everyone took his play at face value and were convinced that the thing inside must be extremely valuable.
Phil slowly removed the clothing, revealing the soap. It was white in color and looked like a polished rectangular rock. Everyone's interest was piqued, and chatters started to float around.
Doesn't that look like a simple rock to you?" One guest remarked.
"It does, but maybe it is something special. Why else would Phil showcase it in such a grand manner?" another replied.
Phil then picked it up and exclaimed, "This what I have in my hand is called a'soap' with magical properties!"
The room went pin-drop silence. Magic was a huge matter for them. Everything that was considered even remotely magical was considered with extreme importance, and this time was no excuse.
"This thing I have in my hand works like a potion. When you rub it in your face and rinse it off with water, your skin becomes very smooth and even starts glistening. Take my daughters and my wife for example." He then gestured for them to come beside him.
"No wonder, they looked so pretty. I was going to ask them how their skin looked so flawless," one remarked.
"Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Especially Mrs.Prescott, the last time I met her, her skin looked so dull and dry, but now look at her," another added. The room buzzed with palpable envy. The women were especially envious of the mother-daughter duo.
Although the men in the room were impressed and recognized its immense value, the women were even more captivated.
"This not only makes your skin look flawless but also makes you disease-free!" He exclaimed excitedly. Looking at the reaction he was getting from the audience, he knew his idea was a success. "If you apply this daily after using the latrine or after returning home, It is 99.99% likely that you would never be inflicted from any sort of disease ever again!" He announced proudly.
After hearing such a bold statement, the whole room again went dead quiet.
"And I will be selling this one of a kind in an auction in four days! I hope every single one of you will be present for it," he announced.
"Do you have only one of those?" One asked
"No, I have a few. But I'm willing to sell this one." Phil replied.
The collective disappointment hung in the air. However, most of them were really excited to have their hands on this product. Some liked to collect exclusive stuff; some wanted to live longer, while others wanted to look more beautiful.
"Let's enjoy ourselves!" he declared, tossing his glass into the air as the festivities resumed. This night was a pivotal moment in unveiling a product that could change their lives forever.
