Chapter 10 - A new chapter

"How long would it take you to create another identity for me?" Orin asked, eager to begin his schooling and learn more about the world he had been reincarnated into.

"Not much, a few days at most." Phil replied, "It doesn't require much work since you are originally from the slums. You don't have your own birth register, do you?" he asked.

Orin shook his head slightly and replied, "I don't think so."

"That's better. Now all I need to do is forge a new register for you. But mind you, you will have to bear my surname if you want to be considered as my illegitimate child." Phil said.

"Who said I want to be your illegitimate child?" Orin retorted dismissively," Besides, being your illegitimate child would bring me unnecessary attention which I currently don't need."

Orin then glanced at David, pausing for a moment, "Are you married?"

Both David and Phil looked surprised. Phil started laughing and said, "Yeah, he did marry just a few months ago." Then he glanced to David and added, "David, do you think you can make your wife understand?"

Although David was reluctant to accept this proposal--especially since he married the love of his life just a few months ago, he knew he held little to no say in this matter, so he quietly nodded in agreement. 'I hope my wife understands' David thought as he silently prayed and closed his eyes.

"Now that it's settled, we need to discuss the production of the soap. What kind of material do you need to make the soap? Write it down so that we can buy it and give them to you as you said." Phil instructed, then handed him a quill and a piece of paper.

"Did you forget that I have never gone to school?" Orin replied, clearly irritated," I don't know how to read or write but I can tell you what those material is called."

"Then how did you read the contract?" Phil asked, his brows furrowing. "I don't know, I just could. Maybe it was magic that helped" Orin replied with a shrug.

"Maybe. Anyway, what are the things you need?" Orin then began to list the names but unfortunately, those words didn't even make sense to Phil.

"Your words sound alien. I didn't understand a single thing" Phil explained, now he was confident that Orin's had a master, who was possibly a mage.

'Such a silly mistake. I should have thought of this.' Orin thought. "Oh…I learnt these names from my master, which is probably why these names sounded alien to you. "

He then drew the plants he needed, and told some of the stuff in local language, like water and hardwood.

After a few days of waiting his new identity was finally created.

"Here is the background information of your new temporary identity"

** Darion Fill, illegitimate son of David Fill **

 Stepmother - Elera Fill

Real mother- unknown

Age – 8

** No other background information **

"I don't understand why you want to go to the academy, when you can learn magic from your own master, and we can hire private tutor to teach you how to read and write." Phil said.

"You wouldn't understand" Orin said dismissively.

Phil felt skeptical about Orin's motives but decided not to press further since he was still focused on acquiring the soap.

Orin had told everything to his father. His plans, and what had been discussed with Phil. Although he worried at first, after understanding that Orin was safe he felt relieved. Along with Orin, Mortimer also came to Phil house, and he was given a new work, and a room was rented near Phil's house for his stay.

Slums were a risky place to stay, and if you could, you should leave the place immediately. Unfortunately, the majority of people born in the slums never get to a better place and die there. Most of them died prematurely because of health issue and starvation, while a lot died due to crimes and murders as well.

After all this was set in motion, Orin was excited to start this new chapter of his life. He couldn't wait to read books from this world and get to know the world better than just being a frog in a well. Hell, he was worse than a frog---he practically knew nothing about the world and its culture except for a few things that he learned from the slums.

Phil hired a few private tutors for Orin under the name of David, who then began teaching him about the language and how to read and write. Even though Orin was well past the ideal age to start learning these basic things, he grasped them all very quickly showcasing his genius and remarkable intelligence.

Phil hadn't sold a single soap either. He was using his daughters and his wife to spread talks about it in the town to create hype. Although he was tempted to quickly sell it and earn a fortune, he knew waiting for a bit more would earn him more.

"I think you are ready for school kid" Phil said. He was quite surprised when he learned that Orin had learned everything the tutor had to teach in a matter of few weeks, but he expected nothing less from Orin who had bested him in every exchange they had until now. Orin was cocky, but Phil like that attitude, since he had skills to back it up.

After a few days, Orin finally arrived at his school gate. It was in the center of the town, near the mayor's house. He had walked past this very place more than a hundred times, hoping to study here one day and maybe learn magic, but he found a bitter truth that they don't teach magic here. If they did, most of the people from the town would have been mages.

The school was not that big but looked very inconspicuous with its odd design. Most of the houses here were tall and more than one story high but this whole school was only one story, but the area was big. This was the only school in the town and not many people studied here because of how expensive it was.

David accompanied Orin inside to handle some paperwork for admission.
