Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Responsibility1

On a rainy day at night, with the smell of blood mixed with air just taken a breath in, one can perceive the smell of blood and the agony of those who had their's mixed with the air in the atmosphere, be they dead or alive.

In Fountain Hilltown, a serious battle was going on. Which was never expected by those in charge of the town; with no time to waste, the chief in charge sent out all the cultivators under him to war.

"Can't take defeat sitting down"

"We will face this battle and try to save as many of our people as we can save, their hopes are on us".

Said the chief before he dispatched them to battle so they could stop the enemies at the gate before they could break into the town to cause disaster for the people living there.

About twenty minutes after the order was given to those capable of fighting under the chief. In a two-story building sitting in the center of the town. It was way modernized a building that was built with titanium.

On the second floor of the building, a man in his early forties was standing there with one hand resting on the ray of the second floor, viewing what was taking place outside the town.

He was wearing a black handless shirt with black trousers, he was well built, fair skin with black hair that was fade cut and very neat, standing there he was releasing an air of authority.

About three minutes later a young man walked towards the man watching the fighting from the two-story building. He was not as tall as the middle-aged man that was there and he was holding a battle axe in one hand with a second battle axe placed in his bag on his back. Behind him was a young man about seventeen years old. The young did not walk towards the middle-aged man that was there. He stood in the walkway waiting for orders before approaching them.

"Alex, how about the preparation with the nine rooms? Have those selected to protect the people in the rooms stepped in?". The middle-aged man said his voice was light and calm despite the raging war going on outside the city.

"Town chief, Sir, all have been put in place, and they are all in the rooms they are to protect, just the B-10 room that is remaining". Said Alex to the town chief.

Once he was done speaking he saw the chief looking in the direction of the young man who was waiting in the walkway.

"Sir, why would you do this? We all know that he lacks the potential; he cannot protect himself, not to mention others". Alex said with a little bit of displeasure and continued speaking

"If you want to protect him, put him in one of the rooms and let someone else protect them".

"Don't worry, I am not protecting him. You, of all people, should understand that I believe in all my men, so it's the same with him". The chief said and started walking to the young man.

"Dean, my boy!" The chief shouted with some joy like he saw his younger form in the young man.

"Don't let this old man down; prove to all it was worth me believing in you."

He threw a token to the young man called Dean with a smile on his face. The boy was a little timid but did his best to show some little form of boldness.

"Clumsy me" At the end Dean was unable to catch the token

"Protect the last room B-10 all the protectors are already in their rooms"

The chief said, walking down the stairs with Alex following.

"You see, he could not even catch that, serve you right," Alex remarked with some concern.

Dean picked the token with b-10 cave on it

"Dad, why?" said Dean while he was standing up with a lot of emotion.

The chief just shook his head without looking back while walking down the stairs.

"Elder brother, are you that wicked? Are you not supposed to be protecting your boy? Why this?". Alex said to the town chief.

"Don't worry about him. Why don't we grab a bottle of wine and enjoy ourselves like back in the old days, younger brother once the war is over".

"And besides one won't act up when they are not responsible for anything but once responsibility is laid on them they will do all within their power not to fail". The town chief said with a bright smile.

"Elder brother, the smile on your face is giving a different vibe from what you are saying or am I see things wrongly". Alex said with a questioning tone.

"Shut up! It is time to protect my town and my people, not some family special time, let's go to war"

The town chief said with authority walking towards the gate of the town.

Standing at the door of room b-10 Dean felt a lot of pressure on him. his blood was boiling with sweat covering his face as far as his hand that held the token to open the door was also covered with sweat and was slippery. Holding the token he felt like was carrying the most heaviest object he had ever done in his life.

"I can't fail, I can't fail". Was the only words ringing in Dean's head.

Dean stood at the front of the door for about five minutes just to get himself together before thinking about opening the door.

"Why am I acting like some kind of a loser, I have been training hard for years, without being noticed by anyone just so that I will have to prove myself that I am not useless". Dean said lightly to himself

"Okay the first step is to protect the people in this room so I will do my best to guide all of them in the room to the end".

Dean places the token on the right position on the door to open it.

"My is my blood boiling I can feel all my blood vessel tensing up"

Unlike before when he was anxious about what to do, this time around his blood was boiling, based on the pressure of the responsibility laid on him and accepting the fact that he must do everything in his power to protect those that have been committed to his care.
