Chapter 57 - Chapter 56 - Strange Cave

"We can't go back the way we came - the guards are still watching closely, too dangerous outside from the cave. Our only option is deeper into this cave," Sylphy said after returning from scouting outside.

Kaizoku stood up from his rest and could only sigh and follow Sylphy's order.

They ventured further into the cave, where they spotted a green torch on the right wall.

Without hesitation, Kaizoku grabbed it as the cave was growing darker.

"Where are we even going..." Kaizoku muttered, still feeling weak.

"I don't know either, let's just keep going..." Sylphy replied.

They continued walking deeper into the cave with no clear direction.

The further they went, the more uneasy they became. Paranoia and doubt began to haunt them both.

Despite this, they kept their feelings buried deep inside and remained silent.

Suddenly, Kaizoku sensed something moving behind them - he thought he heard movement.

"Huh!?" he turned around suspiciously.

"Hey Sylphy, did you hear what I heard?" Kaizoku asked with uncertainty.

"What did you hear? I didn't hear anything," Sylphy responded.

The longer Kaizoku stared behind them, the faster his heart beat. His breathing quickened and sweat poured down his face.

Silence began to consume him.

Before the situation could worsen, Sylphy snapped Kaizoku back to reality by tapping his right arm.

"Hey, HEY KAI! Are you even listening to me!?" she shouted.

Startled by Sylphy's yell, Kaizoku broke from his trance.

"Ah!? What!? Sorry? What were you saying?"

"What are you doing? Why do you keep looking back?" Sylphy asked with confusion.

"Huh? What? Looking back? ... Never mind, let's just continue our journey. I'm starting to feel really uneasy."

Kaizoku walked foward faster.

"Huh? Hey, wait up!"

Sylphy quickened her pace to match his.

As they ventured deeper, the sounds of bats faded away and spider webs became scarce. The further they went, the quieter it became.

Only the crackling of the torch and their breathing could be heard.

Suddenly, Sylphy felt an intense cold. She shivered violently.

"Hey, Kai. Do you feel cold? Why am I suddenly feeling this extreme coldness?"

Kaizoku, on the other hand, felt burning hot.

"Huh? Cold? I'm burning up..."

Sweat poured down his face rapidly.

"Maybe you were right earlier - we need to get out of here quickly," Sylphy said while continuously shivering.

"Huff... You're right... I'm so hot..."

After saying this, Kaizoku and Sylphy began walking faster.

They continued without stopping despite the cold and heat filling their bodies.

Without breaking stride, Sylphy finally caught a familiar scent.

"Hmm... This smell... It's the same as outside the cave! We're approaching an exit!" Sylphy said with a exciting smile.

"Really!? Finally! We need to move even faster!"

They both started running forward, hoping to find the cave's exit.

Racing ahead at full speed, Kaizoku and Sylphy saw an intensely bright green light before them.

Without hesitation, they ran straight into the light, not knowing what awaited them.

As they entered the light, Sylphy and Kaizoku's eyes were overwhelmed by its green brilliance.
