Being tired from yesterday, Ryu overslept his alarm. One of the negatives of growing up with your mother always being at work is that they were never there to pester you to get up for school. This meant that occasionally Ryu would be fairly late to school.
Rushing to get ready for school, he took a fast shower, skipped breakfast, and threw on the first uniform he found for school.
As he exited the building he ran to school, he ended up getting there only half an hour late, but this still meant he was going to get into some sort of disciplinary trouble.
As he went to enter the building, he pulled on the front door of the school. "It's not moving," Ryu thought to himself. Then he remembered that the school doors locked 10 minutes after class had started.
Embarrassed, he buzzed in through the button outside of the school. As he walked in, he got motioned to enter the headmaster's office. As he walked in the headmaster said nothing, instead she motioned for him to sit down in the chair on the other side of her desk.
"So, why are you this late to class, you better have a great excuse," said the headmaster.
"I have to think of a good lie to save myself," Ryu thought to himself, racking his brain to see if there was any excuse he could think of. "Bingo, I can use my hospitalization as an excuse," Ryu thought to himself.
"Ms. Leo, ever since my hospitalization I've been extremely tired, I tried working out for the first time as part of my physical therapy yesterday, and it had me more tired than normal. I know it's my fault for overworking myself, but I just want to be stronger, so I won't be as easily hurt," said Ryu, he made sure to say it in a sad and sappy tone to tug on his headmaster's heartstrings.
"Alright, I guess I can't be mad at you for that, but this better not happen again, okay?" said the headmaster.
"I swear it won't, thank you so much Ms. Leo," said Ryu, with that he was dismissed to enter class.
As he entered into the class everyone looked at him, but he didn't really care. He walked over and handed a late slip he grabbed from the office to Mr. Ito and walked back quietly to his seat.
As he sat down, Kenji tapped his shoulder, indicating he wanted Ryu's attention.
"Yo, why were you so late, even I'm not that late," said Kenji.
"Man, I was working out last night and took it too far, so I missed my alarm this morning," said Ryu in response.
"Damn, I know the feeling, though, hey I didn't realize you were taking lifting serious now," said Kenji.
"Yeah man, I don't know if you can see any difference since I started, but I've gained 10 to 15 pounds ever since I started eating properly and lifting," said Ryu quietly so that Mr. Ito wouldn't yell at them.
"Yeah, you look a lot healthier than before, aye if you ever want to lift with me just let me know, I go to this local MMA gym," said Kenji.
"Oh, I go there too, that's crazy," said Ryu in response.
"Wow, that's crazy I've never seen you there, it must be because I go in the mornings. But I have something more serious to talk about. Kenzo declared to the school this morning that he was going to challenge you to fight him next week on Monday, he said that if you didn't come, he'd make your life a living hell," said Kenji in a solemn and serious tone, if anyone looked into his face, they would be able to tell he was angry.
"Are you serious, well I'll go and show him up," said Ryu, trying to portray a confident persona.
Kenji knew that this confident persona wasn't real, the Ryu he knew would be shaking in his shoes. But Ryu was being serious, he wanted to do this fight fair and square.
"Alright, but if you go, I'm coming with you, because I'm not gonna let him kill you, he doesn't know how to hold back when you fight back, trust me," said Kenji.
"Alright, but no intervening, it's my fight," said Ryu.
With that they both turned their attention to Mr. Ito, they felt like they had already wasted enough class time.
"This is my one and only chance to turn the tables and show Kenzo who he's really messing with," Ryu thought to himself. This had only further motivated him to work hard and become stronger, he needed to do some serious training if he was going to be able to beat Kenzo by next Monday.
Since he realized he was lacking, he theorized ways he could train to become good enough to fight Kenzo.
"I could start training arts, that's where most of my skill is lacking. I'll shadow box and have Ken check my form at the gym, and I'll sign up for any of the remaining Muay Thai classes between now and then," thought Ryu.
As he was thinking to himself, a notification from the system appeared.
[Notification: Emergency Quest has been assigned; this quest will not affect your daily quest status.]
"Quests," Ryu thought to himself, wondering what was so important that the system would create a new quest type for.
[Quests]

[Emergency Quest]

At first Ryu read the emergency quest and was excited by the overpowered rewards he could receive. But then he re-read the requirements, especially the "Survive the fight" one. "Wait, it says survive the fight? It's never said that before," Ryu thought to himself.
Suddenly he was overwhelmed by a sense of fear for the upcoming fight, something didn't seem right about what was going to happen Monday.
