Judo was a little different, and harder to learn by yourself. He found a video on a website about how to start and what to learn he narrowed it down to what he had to master in order to have a basic understanding of Judo.
He needed to work on posture, footwork, movement, falling techniques, gripping techniques, unbalancing opponents, making an opening, and applying a throw.
"That is a hell of a lot more than I had to learn for anything else, I wonder if I'll even be able to gain mastery today, damn," Ryu thought to himself as he realized how much he would have to learn. He contemplated switching out Judo for an easier art, but his mother didn't raise a quitter, he wasn't just going to give up once he set his mind on something. At least not now that he was focused on getting stronger.
With that he started working on his posture and footwork, this was the hardest to get down as the system wouldn't give him a notification on if it was right, but, if it was wrong then he would not be able to pass any of the moves he learns to the systems standards.
He had to bend his knees slightly, have an about normal posture, and remained practicing it with his eyes at around where his opponent's chest or waist level would be. This was very different from what his normal fighting posture was and took a while to get used to.
Next, he had to get footwork down, the basic footwork principle of Judo was to keep yourself grounded, and don't place too much weight on one leg. This was because you want to be grounded in Judo so that you don't leave yourself open for an easy grapple move.
After an hour or two he felt that he had the posture and footwork down to a basic level, after this he realized he needed to make some sort of dummy to practice on.
To do this he took a couple pillowcases and filled them up with t-shirts, then set them up on top of each other, this wasn't ideal, but it would have to do.
After this he worked on movement, which was learning to keep grounded while moving or how to not create too much risk when moving, which again didn't teach him any practical moves yet, but after around an hour he felt he had gotten it down. At this point it was almost 9 PM and he still had a good bit to go before he had mastery, and he had only three hours before his quest expired.
He then focused on falling techniques. This was very weird to him; Judo was an art of trust he read. In falling you want to remove all strength in your body and fall like a "baby" or a "drunk". This was interesting and apparently it was a harm reduction technique, necessary, because of how dangerous Judo moves can be if you try to resist.
If anyone watched Ryu right now, they'd wonder if he had gone insane. He was standing on his bed repeatedly falling back down onto it, trying to practice Judo. As he was practicing it, Ryu laughed to himself about how stupid he looked.
This was actually a pretty quick training, as he didn't need to get it perfect, but acceptable, for the system to count it as valid. Now he was going to start gripping techniques, he'd practice these on the dummy of pillowcases. He learned that he was supposed to grab without utilizing his thumb, furthermore he would grab his opponent's collar and sleeve, or put both hands on their collar. He practiced this for a while, and once he felt comfortable moved on.
Next, he studied unbalancing opponents but wouldn't be able to practice it. He studied Kuzushi which is putting the opponent into an unbalanced position. He then moved on to Tsukuri, which is how to put your body in position relative to your opponent to perform a throwing technique on them. Lastly, he watched a video on Kake which is the finishing of a movement technique.
Finally, he studied making an opening and applying a throw. Once he had finished working on that he received a notification.
[You have properly understood the theoretical foundations of Judo, because of that you have been granted Judo Mastery Level 1, the system will fill in the gaps between theoretical and practical information to give you a well-rounded foundation of Judo.]
"Wow, so all I need to do to learn an art is understand its theoretical foundations, maybe my intelligence stat will turn out to be pretty useful," Ryu thought to himself.
Suddenly, another notification appeared before his face.
[Your daily quest has been complete.]
"Alright, another stat point," Ryu thought, happy he received another point.
"Quests," Ryu thought.
Suddenly a system window appeared before his eyes.

With that he thought about where to spend his status points, and he thought about how Kenzo overall lacked both intelligence and probably agility, he was pretty much just a muscle-head.
If he could get his agility up, he would most likely be able to dodge most of what Kenzo threw at him. So, he decided to invest into agility, Ryu thought to himself, "Put my stat point into agility."
After this he took another shower and got ready for bed, his mom had arrived home while he was training so he said goodnight to her and hugged her before hitting the hay for the day.
