As the system bombarded Adam with many notifications, the man himself was in a daze. His body had already reformed into its humanoid shape, but his consciousness was still focused on Earth and the Moon.
The pillar of light that Earth had shot to the Moon had reduced in size and now resembled an ethereal string that connected the two. It was a fascinating bridge that was formed of reddish pink light on one side and icy blue light on the other.
Through this connection, Adam could actually now directly supply Evelyn with resources for growth and vice-versa. Whatever Adam devoured now, he would be able to share it with Evelyn making his work a whole lot easier.
Adam could also feel that it would not be long before Evelyn's consciousness was fully awakened. He obviously wanted to be there when she creates her second body so he quickly returned his consciousness into his reformed body.
His humanoid body had now changed a bit. Due to devouring the metal body of the Reactor Core, he could feel his Body rise in power. Understandably, the materials used in creating it were the best of the best. His former six meter size had now increased to just short of six and a half meters. Pretty soon, he probably would not be able to maintain a comfortably small size anymore.
Other than the change in his size, there was one other notable change to his appearance. As his core had now changed greatly in its evolution, its colour had also become more pronounced.
Reddish pink light now coursed through his veins, lighting up just beneath his flesh to make him glow faintly. His eyes had also reflected the same colours, but his hair had the biggest change. Gone were the copper wires that whipped behind him as he moved. Now, his head was like a lit torch, blazing with reddish pink plasma.
What was interesting about it was that it was not like flames whose tips always pointed upward. His hair was like a cloud of reddish pink light that just settled down or flowed on its own.
"How long was I out?"
Adam suddenly wondered out loud as he became keenly aware that his sense of time during the evolution had been dulled greatly. He was supposed to leave the mothership soon. He immediately began moving, feeling a greater urgency within him. Honestly, he was not expecting any answer at all. Even if he had barely spent a single second in that evolution, he would still have rushed to leave. However, it seemed that there was something to answer his question after all.
[Your latest evolution lasted 32 hours.]
"Damn it! I didn't expect it to take so long!"
The system replied for some reason. He did not think it had such a function as its purpose seemed entirely focused on analysing the existence of an inhabitant of the Universe and guiding them toward further growth. It was also a means for the Universe to communicate with him, but would the Universe actually bother to answer such a minor question?
Adam hurried himself even more. He really did not want to be in this mothership for a second longer. He felt that every moment he remained here was a moment closer to apocalypse. And he was not willing to bet that it was safe here just because the Invasive Breach was dormant and mending.
He was annoyed at the how long his evolution took, but he also understood that it was already amazing that it even happened so fast. He was a living planet. His evolutions should be anything but short. This was definitely the benefit of assimilating the Corpuscladis and obtaining Hybrid Evolution.
Although Adam really wanted to inspect the changes to his status, he pushed it back for later when he was not rushing to escape a potential graveyard. He quickly arrived at the flux lift and descended to the very bottom.
The entire bottom floor was a hangar carrying millions of vessels ranging from warships to scouting drones to shuttles. On his way to find the perfect ship to use, he destroyed whatever vessel he came across and devoured them. He did not need to swallow them whole like he did with the Reactor Core since they did not have any energy that he needed to contain. He was only after their materials to strengthen his and Evelyn's bodies.
It took a while for him to find the ship that he wanted. After all, he did not have a list detailing all the vessels the Corpus had. Devouring the ships also added a bit more to the time which led him to just ignoring most of the smaller and weaker vessels in favour of the bigger battleships and warships.
In particular, he targeted the remaining two warships that seemed to be among the flagships of the Corpus army given their sizes and special designs. They seemed to have been damage and were under repairs when everyone vanished which was why they were still in the hangar rather than floating among the debris outside. It was in a special area near these two flagships that he found the what he wanted.
It was a small battleship that also served as a cruise ship probably owned by the leader of the Corpus. It was about half the size of a regular battleship and could be piloted on his own. This was the major reason why he had to take his time searching.
He had two requirements that needed to be met. First was that the ship must be operable even with just one person manning it. Second was that it must have decent speed and defense. Adam did not know how strong his attacks were so he was satisfied with any good weapons system it might have.
He quickly boarded the ship and took a few minutes to familiarise himself with the controls. When he was fully ready, he finally left the Corpus mothership.
