Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 - Mundi

In order to better understand what he could do with his authority as a Lord, Adam had to know the scope of his Dominion. In the time that he learned how to rearrange the planets and even control their gravitational fields, Adam had found that his Dominion reached quite far.

He did not know if it was a normal thing or if it was again another special privilege due to his status as a living planet, but his Dominion had managed to reach over half of the distance from the Solar System to the Corpus battlefield. The reason for this was because as a Lord's Dominion grew stronger, it would naturally grow in size as well.

In fact, Earth itself had already visibly grown through his evolutions. The Moon was also in the process of becoming as huge as Earth previously was. The extended reach in a Lord's Dominion was essentially to accommodate growth, although it is true that the Earth and the Moon were special cases. No celestial bodies grow at such a fast rate and at the same time as well.

This makes Starnet Company's territorial claim to be invalid, but it definitely did not mean it had no merit. By virtue of their name alone, almost everyone in the galaxy would accept their words as truth. That was simply the power wielded by those wielding their name.

Adam understood that his position was rather difficult, but he had no intention of taking blows defenselessly. In this Universe, authority is wielded by those with power. And what is stronger than absolute power?

The Starnet Company can play around with their monopolies while Adam himself would get strong enough that it would not matter what they say. It would be his word that becomes law. And the first step for that plan was actually the planet made of Vitacor.

He would devour that world and raise his powers, but he needed to be cautious. Jeor's crew was the first group of intelligent life that he had met outside of the Humans of Earth. And in the short interaction he has had with them, Adam did not understand the standard of power of other beings in the galaxy, much less the Universe.

He noticed that his captives stared at him strangely the whole time, their nervousness and curiosity mixing together as they awaited their fates. Sometimes, they would even look at the ship around them as though reminding themselves of how magnificent this ship was compared to their own which was already destroyed by Adam.

They just could not reconcile the fact that a powerful being owning this advanced ship could be so ignorant of the matters of the galaxy they lived in. After some time and feeling no immediate threat to their lives, Jeor mustered up the courage to ask.

"Um, Sir... I'm a bit curious. Which race are you from? I don't think I've ever seen someone like you before. I mean, there are a few other huge races out there like the Morai and the Oromir, but they're nowhere near as huge as you."

Adam felt a subtle tug at the depths of his being. No one knew about his race. No one had ever seen or heard of a living planet before. Granted, he did not really resemble a planet with his second body, but it still somehow stung him.

He did not really care for recognition or acknowledgement. That was never the reason he created a second body and ventured out into space alone. It had always been for survival. So he could not understand why he was suddenly feeling melancholic.

"My race is one that has never been seen in the Universe before."

He muttered quietly as his mind sank into thought. Jeor heard his words, but he did not understand what they meant. Few people nowadays even know of the existence of Progenitors, much less a Primogenitor like Adam.

No new races had been born recently with enough power to shake the Universe after all. The only one that met such a criteria was the Corpus-Anima Mundi, but their journey was just beginning. They still remained in a dark and barren corner of the galaxy, unknown to everyone.

It was one thing for Adam himself to say that he did not care for the recognition of others. But for a complete stranger to tell him that he was an unknown, Adam felt an inexplicable annoyance. It was as though he did not matter.

Were his countless deaths inconsequential to the rest of the Universe?

Was his resolve to prevent his further destruction meaningless?

As he thought of it, Adam soon came upon his own answer. Yes, they were indeed inconsequential and meaningless. In the end, he was just another huge lump of rock in another corner of the Universe.

There were countless others like him. The only special thing about him was that he had gained sentience, but it was not enough. After all, he was not the only planet to be suffering the fate of apocalypse.

Adam found it strange how he felt such overwhelming sadness. It reminded him of the intense lust that overtook him, leading to him turning the Moon into the second Mundi. It seemed that the title of Primogenitor did not just stop at granting him authorities.

The responsibilities that such a title carried were also transformed into different emotional responses. He could feel the desire to create more Mundi despite the fact that he previously wanted to limit their numbers.

Now that he recognised this strange phenomenon, however, he would not let himself be overwhelmed by it. Evelyn was enough for now. When he met another worthy planet, he would turn it into a Mundi.

He still did not know how he would choose, but he left it for his future self to handle. He raised his head just in time to find the ship to be nearing Solar System already. He waited for it stop just outside Jupiter.

Since Jeor asked what race Adam came from, he wanted to show exactly that. He left the ship and rushed to the Moon which was already showing signs of awakening.

At this point, the Moon's size was just a bit smaller than the current Earth which had already practically doubled in size. The boost provided by Vitacor was incredibly potent, and that was just one asteroid. Imagine how fast they would grow when devouring the Vitacor planet.

Jeor's crew watched with both curiosity and suspicion as Adam flew close to the Moon, toward a strange tether of aurora that connected the two planets. Adam entered the aurora, floating in the centre as he released a bright reddish pink light. It was soon empowered by the light coming from Earth itself, sending a surge of reddish pink aurora toward the Moon.

Evelyn was already fully prepared to wake up, but it seemed awakening as a Mundi was not easy at all even with a high enough Will. Adam did not realise that he himself had taken a century to awaken after reaching Epsilon-2. So now, he wanted to use his light to trigger Evelyn's awakening. It was an instinctive action that he knew would work. His light seemed capable of anything.

The reddish pink light flooded the icy blue core, suffusing it with a strange power carrying an immense and inviolable authority. The Moon's core pulsed once before erupting with a tide of frigid energy, shooting out a pillar of icy blue light into the sky through the tether. The energy halted just before it hit Adam, condensing into a corporeal form that slowly began to resembled a human woman.

Her skin was a hue of icy white reminiscent of the Moon's surface. Her hair, similar to Adam's, was a frigid cloud of icy blue that flowed down naturally like a waterfall reaching her waist. Her eyes of the same colour were like iridescent stars that lit up the darkness of space around her.

She stood at seven meters, just a bit shorter than Adam, but it did not lessen the powerful aura around her. Adam felt his core tremble as he reached out a hand, caressing her cheek with a gentle touch.

"Evelyn, you're finally awake."

The woman smiled a true and proper smile unlike what Adam does. And although her aura made her appear cold and intimidating, Adam could feel her genuine joy. Evelyn pressed Adam's hand against her cheek, relishing in the warmth of his light.

This was the light that she helped create. This was the light that allowed her to finally awaken. While she was the embodiment of cold to all others, to this light, she would only ever have gratitude and love.

"What should I call you? Brother? Father? Or Husband?"

Her voice was like the soothing sound of water rushing through a stream. It was so smooth and heavenly, bringing peace to Adam's heart. For the first time, he had forgotten about his paranoia. It had weighed heavily on his mind, but Evelyn's words made him feel free and unfettered.

"You can call me however you want."
