Chapter 18 - 18 Understood The Terms And Conditions of Skill Upgradation

Ultimately, the person is killed, and those to whom the secret has been revealed are administered a poison. If the antidote is not taken monthly, death is certain."

Yun's eyes widened in horror as the weight of Bi Chan's words sank in. The severity of the measures in place to protect Medicine Mountain's secrets was chilling.

Yun sighed, his shoulders sagging in resignation. "So I have also been given this badge. No problem."

Head Bi Chan's eyes narrowed, his expression curious. "So are you not angry?"

Yun's gaze turned nonchalant. "Hey, what is there to be angry about in this? This is a safety measure to protect Medicine Mountain from greedy humans."

Just then, Yun Chan arrived, and Yun recounted the entire conversation to his grandfather. Bi Chan's eyes shone with gratitude as he thanked Yun again. "You have saved the future of Medicine Mountain again, Sir Yun."

Yun's curiosity got the better of him. "Head Bi Chan, who named Yun Chan?"

Bi Chan's smile was nostalgic. "My grandfather Bo Chan had said that whoever becomes the head after me will name any of his children as Yun. But no one listened to him. We all have been listening to stories of Sir Yun since childhood. I am a big fan of yours. That is why after becoming the head, I named my grandson Yun."

Yun's eyes widened in surprise. "I see. So that's why you named him Yun."

Bi Chan nodded, his eyes shining with admiration. "Yes, Sir Yun. You are a legend, and I wanted my grandson to grow up inspired by your greatness."

Head Bi Chan beckoned to someone, who brought him a small, elegantly crafted box. He opened it, revealing a beautiful honor badge, which he presented to Yun.

Yun's eyes sparkled with amusement as he took the badge, his gaze flicking up to meet Bi Chan's. "Is this also the same honor badge that can endanger my life?" he asked, his voice laced with humor, as he burst out laughing.

Bi Chan's face relaxed into a warm smile. "No, no, Sir Yun. This is just a simple honor badge."

Yun's grin mischievous. "Don't worry, I'm just kidding."

With a gentle touch, Bi Chan removed the tattoo from Yun's forehead.

After spending a few days in the company of the Medicine Mountain elders, Yun prepared to bid them farewell. As he turned to leave, he paused, turning back to Bi Chan. "Here, take my contact information. If you ever need my help in the future, don't hesitate to reach out. I'll come."

Bi Chan's eyes shone with gratitude as he accepted the offered information.

"Oh, and one more thing," Yun added, his voice filled with a hint of mystery. "The treasure of Medicine Mountain isn't called the Medicinal Pond. It's called Soul Purifying Water. And it does more than just purify the physical body and mind. It nourishes the soul."

With that, Yun turned and disappeared into the distance, leaving behind a group of awestruck elders.

As Yun exited the Medicine Hall, he stumbled upon a quaint market. Amidst the stalls, one shop caught his eye - a small auction house. Yun's curiosity got the better of him, and he wandered over to investigate. Suddenly, memories came flooding back. "Oh my god, how could I forget about this fun place?" he exclaimed, a wide grin spreading across his face.

Somewhere In A Bar

Yun made his way to a bar, donning a mask to comply with the establishment's strict policy. The bartender nodded knowingly as Yun presented his card, leading him to a seemingly ordinary room. With a subtle gesture, the bartender opened a secret door, revealing a hidden passageway.

Yun's eyes widened as he descended into an underground city, the sign above the entrance reading "Secret Underground Paradise". His destination was clear - the auction house. With a thrill of excitement, Yun made his way through the winding streets, eager to explore the secrets that lay within.

Soon, Yun grew bored with the auction proceedings. He slipped out his privilege card and summoned a servant, who escorted him to a vast hall behind the auction house. This exclusive area was reserved for select individuals, and Yun settled in to observe the auction from this new vantage point. However, he soon found himself growing restless once more and began to leave.

Just then, the auctioneer's voice caught his attention. "Ladies and Gentlemen, now it is the turn of today's unidentified object. We are unsure what this is, and our attempts to melt it in a 100K Celsius fire or crush it with 1000 tons of pressure have been futile. This enigmatic object was discovered 1000 kilometers away from Medicine Mountain by a scavenger team working for one of our clients."

Yun's ears perked up, and he quickly took a seat, intrigued by the mysterious object. He leaned forward, his eyes fixed intently on the auctioneer, eager to learn more about this strange find.

"So let's start today's bidding," the auctioneer announced, and a frenzy of bids erupted. The numbers soared: 5 million dollars, 10 million dollars, 100 million dollars... The bidding war raged on, with each participant trying to outdo the others. The stakes skyrocketed, reaching a staggering 100 billion dollars.

"Is there anyone who can increase the bid?" the auctioneer asked, his voice rising in excitement. "100 billion dollars... Thum! 1... 100 billion dollars... Thum! 2... 100 billion dollars..."

Suddenly, Yun's voice boomed through the hall. "1 trillion dollars!"

The room fell silent, with all eyes fixed on Yun in stunned disbelief. Yet, no one dared to challenge his bid.

"Number 07 bids 1 trillion dollars," the auctioneer declared, his voice trembling slightly. "Is there anyone who can bid more than this?"

The silence was palpable, broken only by the auctioneer's rhythmic chant: "1 trillion dollars... Thum! 1... 1 trillion dollars... Thum! 2... 1 trillion dollars... Thum! 3... Sold!"

The gavel came down, and the auctioneer exclaimed, "Congratulations, guest number 07! This object is now yours!"

Yun departed from the auction house, the mysterious object in hand, and all eyes followed him. It was clear that someone who could afford to spend 1 trillion dollars on an enigmatic item was no ordinary individual. The patrons of this establishment were a cunning bunch, each one a wolf in sheep's clothing, or even a lion in wolf's clothing. No one dared to cross anyone here.

Yun wandered through the world, savoring his freedom and enjoying his time.

5 Years Passed

Yun found himself pondering the same dilemma.

"System, it's been five years now, and I still haven't fulfilled that hidden condition," Yun said, seeking guidance.

Silence greeted him. [ ... ]

"System, you're not going to say anything?" Yun asked, his tone laced with frustration.

Again, silence. [ ... ]

"Fine!" Yun exclaimed. "I'll figure it out myself. No matter how many years it takes, I'll fulfill this condition. I have plenty of time, lots and lots of time left."

With determination burning within him, Yun set out to fulfill the hidden condition, no matter the cost.

5 Years Later

Five more years had passed, and Yun's wanderlust had finally subsided. He had grown tired of roaming the world, and for the past month, he hadn't even left his house. Not because he was depressed, but simply because he had nothing to do. His days blurred together in a haze of monotony, spent playing the same adventure game, 'Kill The Dragon', over and over.

"System, I've copied 10 million abilities, and there's no creature left on earth whose ability I haven't replicated," Yun said, his voice laced with a hint of boredom. "I've explored every nook and cranny, and I've bought most of the junk from underground auctions. I have no use for them anymore. Now, please, tell me something about that condition."

The silence that followed was deafening, a stark contrast to the excitement and adventure that once filled Yun's life. He sighed, his eyes fixed on the screen as his avatar continued to slay dragons in the virtual world, a stark reminder that his real-life adventures had come to a standstill.

Yun's voice echoed through the silence, "Tell me, System, am I ready for treasure hunting now?"

The System's response was curt. [ No. You just play auction for now. ]

Yun's curiosity was piqued, "Why not? Hm? Wait a minute... Auction... I once bought a weird object from an auction. No one knows its use, and it can't be destroyed. Where did I put it?" He searched his memories, "Searching... Searching... Ah, finally! I found it!"

Yun's eyes narrowed as he examined the object, "What is it? It's not a metal, nor an earth mineral. So, is it the nail of an extinct animal? No, no... If it was, the auction house would have known about it. Is it some part of a mythical creature?" He chuckled, "I think I've been shut down at home for too long, and I'm talking like this..."

As he turned the object over in his hands, a spark of excitement ignited within him. Could this strange, enigmatic item be the key to unlocking his next adventure?

Yun's gaze landed on the video game, his mind racing with possibilities. "Dragon... Is it the nail of a dragon or a scale?" he wondered aloud. But he knew the System wouldn't answer that question.

"System, can you give me information about any item?" Yun asked, his tone laced with frustration.

[ Yes, I can do that. ] the System responded.

Yun's eyes widened in surprise. "What? What did you say? You can do that? GRIT! GRIT! FROWN!" He couldn't believe it. "O! GREAT! SYSTEM! 7.0 Why didn't you tell me before?"

The System's response was simple. [ You never asked. ]

Yun's face contorted in a scowl. "Yes, it's my fault. You won't tell me unless I ask." He shook his head, ">:(( You!"

He couldn't believe he had been missing out on this feature all along. But now that he knew, he was ready to exploit it. "System, tell me everything about this object!" he exclaimed, holding up the mysterious item.

The System responded. [ Scanning the object... Scanning complete. Collecting information.... Collecting information complete. ]

Finally, the details appeared:

[ Dragon's Scale: Dragon is an ancient beast, the overlord of all beasts. Dragon's scale cannot be destroyed unless someone is more powerful than the dragon. Dragon's intelligence level is higher than human.

Dragon's Energy Level: Black and Grade Gold. ]

Yun's eyes widened in awe. "Oh! So this is really Dragon's Scale. But they're extinct. I wish these ancient creatures were alive; I could copy their abilities too." A sudden thought struck him. "Hmm? Alive... System, show me the interference of Skill Ability Extraction+. I want to check something."

The System displayed the information, and Yun's eyes scanned it eagerly. Could it be possible to extract their abilities from their scales? The possibilities swirled in his mind like a vortex, fueling his excitement.

"Wait a minute. What's this?" Yun exclaimed, his eyes scanning the information on the screen with newfound excitement. "Why didn't I notice this before?"

He read the description again, his mind racing with the implications: "Description: You can now copy the ability of anyone just by touching them. Anyone, anyone... ha ha ha!"

Yun's eyes sparkled with realization. "System, what I am thinking is correct!"
