Yun repeatedly called out to the System, but it remained eerily silent, leaving him bewildered and uncertain about his next move. With a sense of defeat, Yun trudged back to his home, his mind racing with questions. He tried to shake off the feeling of unease and focused on enjoying his youth for a few days.
As he grew into a young man, Yun felt an inexplicable pull to visit the Medicine Mountain. While on his way, he witnessed a disturbing scene - a group of men kidnapping a child and dragging him away. Yun's instincts screamed that something was off, and suddenly, the memory of Bo Chan's similar ordeal flashed before his eyes.
Without hesitation, Yun sprang into action, determined to rescue the child. This time, however, he didn't bother alerting the authorities or shouting for attention. Instead, he chose a more stealthy approach, his heart pounding in his chest as he chased after the kidnappers and he shouted hey! Stop.
The kidnappers sneered at Yun, their voices dripping with malice. "Who are you to interfere? Mind your own business and let us do our work. Scram!"
Yun stood firm, his eyes blazing with determination. "I told you to stop. Release the child immediately. If you don't, I'll make sure you suffer a fate worse than death."
The kidnappers burst into a fit of laughter, their mocking gazes raking over Yun's slender frame. "Ha! You? You think you can stop us? You're just a scrawny kid with no weapons or strength. How do you plan to take us down? Ha ha ha! Leave now, or we'll finish you off along with this child!"
Yun's anger flared as the kidnappers ignored him and began to leave. He shouted, "Stop, you motherfu—!" but quickly regained control, calming himself down. "No, no, Yun. Don't lose your temper. You don't want to kill them... just teach them a lesson."
With a wicked grin, Yun embraced his darker side, his eyes gleaming with a mischievous light. He began to chuckle maniacally as he strode towards the kidnappers, his body crackling with electricity. He had copied the electric eel's ability, and now he was ready to unleash it.
As he reached the kidnappers, Yun raised his hands, and a bolt of electricity shot out, striking the men with a loud crackle. They convulsed in agony, their screams echoing through the air as Yun's laughter grew louder, more menacing.
The kidnappers yelped in surprise, "Bzzt! Bzzt! Aargh! Aaaah! Where did this lightning come from?" But the electricity had a limited impact on them. Yun swiftly combined his Electrocute ability with Paralyze, striking the kidnappers again. "Oooowww! Aaaaaa..." they wailed, their bodies rigid and helpless.
With the kidnappers neutralized, Yun turned to the child and asked, "What's your name?"
"I'm Yun Chan," the child replied, still shaken.
Yun's eyes narrowed slightly. "Hm? Yun Chan?"
Yun Chan nodded. "Yes, I'm 10 years old and I am the youngest grandson of Medicine Mountain's current head, Bi Chan. They were kidnapping me for money."
Yun asked him, "Do you know Bo Chan?"
Yun Chan's eyes lit up. "Bo Chan? Yes, he's my great-great-grandfather! How do you know about him?"
Yun burst into laughter, his eyes sparkling with mirth. "Pfft! Hahahaha! Sorry, sorry, I remembered an old incident. I met him once, just like you. Come, I'll take you to meet your grandfather. You can come with me."
With that, Yun began walking, Yun Chan by his side, as they journeyed towards Medicine Mountain. The sun cast a warm glow on their faces, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. Yun's laughter still lingered in the air, and Yun Chan looked up at him with a mix of curiosity and wonder.
At The Entrance
At the entrance, the guard barred their way, his expression stern. "Wait! You cannot enter. State your purpose."
Yun Chan stepped forward, a hint of annoyance in his voice. "Guard, don't you recognize me?"
The guard's eyes widened in surprise. "Young Master Yun Chan! I apologize, I didn't recognize you. How did you end up in this state?"
Yun Chan waved his hand dismissively. "Never mind that. This person is my benefactor. I'll join you later, after I've cleaned up. Please take him to my grandfather."
The guard nodded, his expression softened. "Of course, Young Master. I'll escort your benefactor to Lord Bi Chan immediately."
Yun smiled confidently. "There's no need for that, I'll go there myself." He proudly displayed his medicine badge, adorned with the symbol of a grandmaster, and alongside it, the coveted black entry badge of Medicine Mountain.
The guard's eyes widened in awe. "T-this is the medicine badge of a grandmaster level... and paired with the black entry badge, only given to the most honored guests. It's also known as the Honor Badge." He bowed his head in reverence. "I-I apologize, honored guest. I didn't recognize you."
Yun waved his hand graciously. "It's okay, it happens." With that, he walked past the guard, leaving him in a state of wonder.
After Yun's departure, the guard turned to Young Master Yun Chan with a puzzled expression. "Who was this person who has two VIP badges of Medicine Mountain?"
Yun Chan shook his head. "I don't know either. But how is it possible for someone so young to achieve grandmaster level at such a tender age?"
The guard's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "This is indeed a mystery that surrounds the enigmatic figure with the dual badges."
At The Medicine Hall
"Wait! Who are you? You can't go in..." The doorman's firm tone echoed through the entrance hall, his eyes scrutinizing the visitor.
But as his gaze shifted to the VIP badges beside Yun, his expression transformed into a warm smile. "Sir, good afternoon. You may enter."
Yun walked into the Medicine Hall, his smile radiating confidence. The assembled elders, vice heads, and mountain heads turned to face him, their eyes widening in surprise.
"Sir, sir, you-you... are you Sir Yun?" one of them stuttered, before quickly correcting himself. "No, what a ridiculous question! How can you be Sir Yun? Are you his descendant?"
Yun's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "First, tell me who you are and how you know about Sir Yun?"
The elderly man at the front, with a kind face and wispy white hair, stood up. "I am Bi Chan, the current head of Medicine Mountain. Who doesn't know about Sir Yun? He was a legend... but alas, he's no longer with us. Yet, you bear an uncanny resemblance to him."
Yun's smile deepened, his eyes locked onto Bi Chan's, "How do you know what this 'Sir Yun' looks like when he's already dead?"
Bi Chan's expression turned enigmatic. "I can't tell you that. First, tell me how you come to resemble Sir Yun so uncannily. Who are you?"
Yun's smile was cryptic. "I can't reveal who I am either."
Bi Chan's curiosity deepened. "Why?"
"Because the people I knew are no longer in this world," Yun replied, his voice tinged with a hint of melancholy. "Bo Chan, Head Xin, Deok Chan, and Digi Chan."
Bi Chan's eyes widened in astonishment. "How do you know all these names? Are you truly Sir Yun's descendant?"
Yun chuckled, a low, throaty sound. "No, how can someone be their own descendant?"
Bi Chan's face contorted in shock. "So what do you mean you are Sir Yun? How is that possible? He died years ago. How can someone live for so many years?"
The air was electric with tension as Bi Chan's words hung in the air, awaiting Yun's response. The assembled members leaned in, their faces agog with wonder and skepticism.
Yun revealed his badges, and Bi Chan's eyes widened in astonishment. "These are the same Grandmaster level badge and Honor badge that my grandfather gave to Sir Yun when Sir Yun came to meet my grandfather Bo Chan, who was 30 years old at that time. So, are you truly Sir Yun?"
Yun's smile was enigmatic. "Believe me or not, I am Xiao Yun."
Bi Chan's expression turned skeptical. "So, are you immortal?"
Yun chuckled, "Hmm, no, I am not immortal. But maybe I will become one in the future." He laughed, a hearty "Ha ha ha" that echoed through the hall.
Then, Yun's expression turned curious. "Now, can you tell me how you found out about me?"
Bi Chan hesitated, his voice laced with uncertainty. "Do you know about the treasure of Medicine Mountain?"
Yun's smile grew wider. "It seems you still don't trust me. Yes, I know about the treasure of Medicine Mountain. It's in the secret chamber, and you people call it the medicinal pond."
As soon as Yun spoke, his Honor badge shattered, and a black smoke emerged, taking the form of a tattoo on his forehead. The air was electric with tension as Bi Chan's eyes locked onto the tattoo, his expression a mix of shock, awe, and trepidation.
The tattoo seemed to pulse with a mysterious energy, as if it held secrets and stories of its own.
Head Bi Chan's voice trembled with emotion as he gazed at Yun. "Sir Yun, it is really you. I am sorry, I could not recognize you."
The elders, vice head, and head bowed in unison, their faces filled with reverence. Yun's confusion deepened as he gestured for them to rise. "Get up! Get up! What are you all doing?"
Bi Chan's eyes welled up with tears as he approached Yun. "Sir Yun, you have finally come."
Yun's expression turned perplexed. "??? Would you mind telling me what is happening?"
Bi Chan's voice was laced with a mix of awe and gratitude. "Actually, my grandfather Bo Chan, who was the head at that time, on his deathbed told all the elders and the next head that if there is ever a danger to Medicine Mountain, we should find Sir Yun and take his help. No matter in which generation that disaster occurs."
Head Bi Chan continued, his voice filled with a mix of nostalgia and awe. "But at that time, no one believed Head Bo. They thought it was absurd to think that Sir Yun, who would have been long gone, could possibly help them in times of danger."
Yun's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. "Hmmm. Leave all that. Now, can you answer my question..."
But Bi Chan interrupted Yun, his words tumbling out in excitement. "Sir Yun, Head Bo had put one portrait of you inside the secret chamber and one in the medicine hall. All the people present here see your portrait every day. That's why we recognized you as soon as we saw you."
Yun's expression turned skeptical. "I'm not curious about this, but tell me about the drama that just happened. What's going on here?"
Silence fell over the room, punctuated only by the sound of heavy breathing. Then, suddenly, a clamor arose, with everyone talking at once. The noise was deafening, with chatter and clamor filling the air.
Yun raised his voice above the din, his words cutting through the chaos. "Will anyone say something? Head Bi, since you have been speaking for so long, you should tell us about this too."
Head Bi Chan nodded, his eyes locked onto Yun's. "Ah, yes. That-that Sir Yun, there are two types of Honor badges. The first Honor badge is given to an outsider who has done something for our Medicine Mountain that has benefited the entire Medicine Mountain. And the second is given to the one who knows about some secret of The Medicine Mountain."
Yun's eyes narrowed, his interest piqued. "Hm hm, say further."
Head Bi Chan hesitated, his voice barely above a whisper. "That-that is, the first badge has no function but..."
Yun's gaze turned intense, his eyes boring into Bi Chan's. "But what? Tell me, what is the function of the second badge?"
Head Bi Chan's voice was laced with a grave intensity. "But to ensure that no secret of Medicine Mountain is leaked, we have installed a failsafe mechanism in the other badge. If the owner of the badge is reveal this secret to anyone, the badge will shatter, and a tattoo will be emblazoned on their forehead, no matter the distance.
These badges are soulbound, and a duplicate of every such badge is kept in the Disciplinary Hall. When the real badge breaks, its counterpart in the Disciplinary Hall breaks simultaneously. The moment this occurs, the Disciplinary Hall springs into action, tracking down the individual, subjecting them to torture, and demanding to know all those with whom they have shared the secret.
