Manager Jiang Min's expression turned apologetic. "I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you, Xiao Yun. I forgot about you. I just remembered that I met you when you were in high school, and I promised you that when you graduate, I will get you a decent job. Is that why you came here?"
Xiao Yun's mind raced as he tried to process Manager Jiang Min's words. He thought to himself, "I have never met Manager Jiang Min before, so why is he saying this?" But then, he understood that this was a trick of the system. The voucher had really worked! He smiled wryly and said, "It's okay, it happens."
Manager Jiang Min looked at him with curiosity. "So, how did you come here?" he asked.
Xiao Yun shrugged nonchalantly. "It's nothing, I just needed your help in one matter."
Manager Jiang Min leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with interest. "Yes, yes, tell me, Xiao Yun. What's the matter?"
Yun revealed his intentions, his voice steady and determined. "I want to become the manager of Sun and Star Company."
Manager Jiang Min's eyes widened in surprise. "That is one of the biggest companies in China, isn't it, Xiao Yun?"
Yun nodded, his expression unyielding. "Yes, you are right, Manager Jiang Min."
Manager Jiang Min leaned back in his chair, a hint of curiosity in his voice. "So, why do you want to go to this company?"
Yun's response was terse, his eyes avoiding Manager Jiang Min's gaze. "Nothing, it's just a personal reason."
Manager Jiang Min's face fell, his expression dejected. "Really? Well, it doesn't matter. Who am I to you? It seems that you don't consider me your brother at all. What difference will it make between us if you tell me or not?"
Yun's silence was palpable, and Manager Jiang Min's words hung in the air like a challenge.
Manager Jiang Min sighed, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "Anyway, never mind. I will do what you want me to do."
The atmosphere in the room grew heavy, the tension between them almost palpable. Yun's determination had somehow created a rift between them, and Manager Jiang Min's words seemed to hint at a deeper hurt.
Hearing such sad words from Manager Jiang Min, Xiao Yun felt a pang of pity for him and decided to reveal the whole story. "Manager Jiang Min, I have to tell you something. I used to work as a manager in a small sub-branch of Sun and Star Company. My boss, Jin Yuan, fired me from the company, citing lack of performance and skills. But the truth is, he wanted to bring his nephew, Jin Ni, into my position. And the irony is, Jin Ni doesn't even know the basics of management!"
Xiao Yun's eyes flashed with determination. "So, I want to take revenge on that fuc*er boss Jin Yuan by becoming the manager of Sun and Star Company."
Manager Jiang Min listened intently, his expression sympathetic. "Okay, I understand. But the criteria for that company are extremely high. People have to go through a tough interview just to get the job of a sweeper, let alone a manager. Are you sure you're up for the challenge?"
Xiao Yun nodded resolutely. "I'm positive. I've been preparing for this moment for a long time. I won't let Jin Yuan get away with what he did to me."
Manager Jiang Min nodded thoughtfully. "Alright, I'll help you. But we need to come up with a solid plan to get you into that company. Let's start by updating your resume and practicing your interview skills."
Manager Jiang Min's eyes sparkled with determination as he said, "You told me about your problem, considering me as your brother, so I will make you the manager of Sun and Star Company, no matter what, even if I have to fight with the owner of the company."
Xiao Yun's heart skipped a beat as he listened to Manager Jiang Min's words. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was this really happening?
"You don't need to do all that, but if you recommend me as your student, then it is possible," Xiao Yun said, his voice filled with hope.
Manager Jiang Min nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, you are right. So, since when have you been wanting to join Sun and Star Company?"
Xiao Yun's response was eager. "As soon as possible."
Manager Jiang Min smiled. "Okay, I will try and inform you. You leave me your contact information, I will personally call you and inform you when this matter is done."
Xiao Yun handed over his business card, his hand trembling with excitement. "Here is my business card. My contact number is 23xxxxxxxxxx, and my email ID is abc@gmail.com."
As Manager Jiang Min took the card, Xiao Yun felt a sense of gratitude towards this stranger who was willing to help him achieve his dream. He knew that this was just the beginning of his journey, and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
Yun thought to himself, "Now the first step of my revenge is complete, I just have to wait for some more time." He couldn't help but let out a sly chuckle, "Heehee... hahaha..." But then, he reminded himself to calm down, taking a deep and long breath. "Calm down, Yun, calm down, don't be too excited." He composed himself, thinking, "Now I have to think about my next step. Because the one who stays two steps ahead is the wise person."
The room fell silent, with both Xiao Yun and Manager Jiang Min sitting quietly, looking at each other awkwardly. Xiao Yun thought to himself, "When will Manager Jiang Min ask me for dinner?" Meanwhile, Manager Jiang Min was thinking, "What should I do now?"
Breaking the awkward silence, Xiao Yun spoke up, "Bro, I have spent all my money coming here, and I don't even have a place to stay." He looked at Manager Jiang Min with a hint of expectation, waiting for his response.
Manager Jiang Min's expression turned sympathetic, and he nodded understandingly. "Don't worry, Xiao Yun. I'll help you out. You can stay with me for now, and we'll figure out the rest later."
Xiao Yun's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly nodded in gratitude. "Thank you, Manager Jiang Min. I really appreciate it."
The door creaked open, and before Manager Jiang Min could say anything further, his secretary, Li Su, walked in and said, "Boss, what are you doing here till now? It's about to be 8 o'clock. The meeting is about to start, and all the board members are already in the meeting hall."
Manager Jiang Min's face turned red as he exclaimed, "Oh! Damn! I forgot about the meeting!"
Li Su looked at him disapprovingly. "Boss, how can you forget about such an important meeting?"
Manager Jiang Min apologized profusely. "Sorry, sorry, this won't happen again."
Li Su's gaze shifted to Xiao Yun, and she asked, "Who is this in the office?"
Manager Jiang Min smiled and introduced Xiao Yun. "Meet him, he's my special brother."
Li Su extended her hand, and Xiao Yun shook it, greeting her with a smile. "Hello," she said, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
As they exchanged pleasantries, Manager Jiang Min hastily gathered his things and said, "I am going, I can't keep the board members waiting."
Yun, who was stunned by Li Su's beauty, found himself unable to release her hand, lost in his own thoughts as he gazed at her.
"Mr. Xiao Yun, Mr. Xiao Yun!" Secretary Li Su called out in an angry voice, repeating his name several times before Yun finally came to his senses. "Mr. Xiao Yun, leave my hand!"
"Oh! Sorry, sorry, I was thinking something," Yun stammered, releasing her hand.
Li Su mumbled under her breath, "Pervert."
Yun, noticing her mumbling, asked, "What did you say?"
She quickly replied, "Nothing."
Li Su urged Manager Jiang Min to hurry up, reminding him that only two minutes were left before the meeting was set to start.
"Okay, but first, make arrangements for my brother's food and accommodation," Manager Jiang Min instructed Li Su.
"Okay," Li Su replied, her expression still hinting at her earlier annoyance.
After the manager left, Li Su turned to Yun and said, "Come, I will show you your room." She led him to a cozy quarters, explaining everything he needed to know. As she turned to leave, Xiao Yun stopped her, shouting loudly, "Wait!"
Li Su turned around, a hint of irritation in her voice. "What happened now?"
Xiao Yun's face was flushed, and his eyes shone with a curious intensity. "I just wanted to ask, what did you mean by 'pervert' earlier?"
Li Su's expression changed, and she looked away, her voice barely above a whisper. "I didn't mean anything. Just forget it."
Xiao Yun's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with possibilities. "No, I want to know. What did you think I was thinking?"
Li Su sighed, her shoulders sagging. "Fine. I thought you were thinking inappropriate thoughts about me. Okay?"
Xiao Yun's face turned bright red, and he looked away, mumbling, "Oh, I see."
Yun's eyes narrowed, his voice firm. "And I have been looking at you since then, you are staring at me and speaking impolitely. Answer me, why are you doing this?"
Li Su's expression turned defensive, her hands on her hips. "I have never seen you before, I have been working here for 3 years, if you are Manager Jiang Min's brother, you must have come to meet the manager at some point. But I have never seen you meet the boss or talk to him."
Yun's smile was enigmatic. "That's because you have only been working here for 3 years and I am meeting brother Jiang Min after 5 years."
Li Su's eyes widened, her voice laced with surprise. "5 years? You haven't seen your own brother in 5 years?"
Yun's gaze turned distant, his voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "We had a falling out, but now I'm back to make amends."
Li Su's expression softened, her curiosity piqued. "What happened?"
Yun's eyes snapped back to hers, his voice firm. "That's none of your business."
Li Su's eyes sparkled with amusement as she asked, "Okay, how old are you?"
Yun's response was hesitant, "25 years, why? what happened?"
Li Su's grin mischievous, "So you are just about 25 years old and the boss is 65 years old, are you a distant cousin of the boss?"
Xiao Yun's stuttering reply, "T-T-That's because we are not blood relatives or cousins, but we are friends and he considers me his brother."
Li Su's laughter echoed through the room, "Let it go, I don't care."
Yun's curiosity piqued, "Was this the only reason for your angry look?"
Li Su's expression turned serious, "No, it's not."
Yun's persistence, "Then?"
Li Su's voice firm, "Because you are a pervert."
Yun's face flushed, "Now, what did I do?"
Li Su's face reddened with anger as she shouted, "You were staring at me! And I saw the way you looked at me. Don't you know that staring at someone is rude? And you weren't even willing to let go of my hand while shaking hands! It made me uncomfortable."
Yun's response was unapologetic, "I wasn't staring at you like that! I was just admiring your... um... your professional attire. You are so beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes off you. It seems like this is love at first sight."
Li Su rolled her eyes, "Save your cheesy talk for someone else. It won't work on me." With that, she turned to leave.
The tension between them palpable, their banter a delicate dance of words, each one landing with precision, their meanings veiled, yet potent.
Yun called out, "Wait!"
Li Su turned back, irritation etched on her face. "What now?"
Yun's expression was innocent, "I'm very hungry. Can you order food for me?"
Li Su's eyes narrowed, "I'm not your servant."
Yun's grin was charming, "But you are the secretary, aren't you?"
Li Su's voice was firm, "Not yours, but I am the secretary of Boss Jiang Min." With that, she turned to leave, her anger palpable.
Yun's stomach growled, "I am really hungry, what should I do?"
Li Su's response was curt, "There is a landline in this room, call on it and place your order." She angrily slammed the door and left, muttering under her breath, "Annoying bastard."
Yun's eyes widened as he watched her go, his heart racing with excitement. His hunger momentarily forgotten. He couldn't believe the way Li Su had reacted. He shrugged, his stomach reminding him of his hunger. He walked over to the landline and picked up the receiver, dialing the number for room service.
As he waited for someone to answer, he couldn't help but think about Li Su. She was beautiful, but her temper was fiery. He wondered what it would take to tame her. A smile spread across his face as he thought about the challenge. He couldn't believe his luck. He had never felt this way about anyone before. Was it really love at first sight? Only time would tell.
