Chapter 56 - Isles [1]

Let's rewind a bit.

"Yup, it's official, I'm lost," I said to myself as I landed in a random island to try and figure out where I was.

I have, quite frankly, no freaking idea where I am right now. I literally went to any way I felt like going and kept at that direction until I found something.

That obviously was not a good strategy.

"Maybe I should see if I can find someone to ask?" I sighed as I walked up the island's shore and changed to my tree form. "I really should have asked for directions. Should I go to India or Egypt next?" Just as I turned back to my wood form, I felt the LAST thing I wanted to feel. "Oh are you freaking kidding me?"

Divine presence. Several of them, maybe three at best. All of which on this island that I was currently on. Though, something was... off.

Those presence felt weak. Weaker than a divine presence should be. Honestly, I couldn't help but be curious.

"Well, might as well see what this is about," I thought as I started walking towards the divine presence.

Was it really smart to walk towards what is most likely an unkown god/goddess in the middle of an unknown location? No, not really.

But neither was splashing water into the face of a teenage Gilgamesh, so it's not my first time of being recklessly stupid.

I walked through the woods of the island while keeping my senses sharp. I didn't really sense.... anything besides those divinities. Of course, there was the local wildlife here and there, but I meant people.

There wasn't any people around at all.

"-telling you, these are new flowers," a soft and young feminine voice said beyond the woods.

"I didn't say you were wrong. I was asking where they came from?" Another voice, greatly similar to the first said, though this one sounded a bit mature.

After looking at who was speaking over the bark of a tree, I found two young girls in white dresses, both looking identical with purple hair in pigtails and white accessories. Their looks and clothes were almost completely the same with the sole exception that one of them had a black hairband while the other had a white one.

(Wait... aren't they Stheno and Euryale?) I asked looking over the two girls.

"Maybe one of those idiots brought it with them before Meduseless took care of them?" The one in the black hairband - Euryale, I believe - wondered while looking over a group of flowers with her sister.

"Why would they bring seeds and take the time to plant them?" The one in the white hairband - Stheno - said.

The only way I can tell their difference is the way their voices sounded. Stheno sounded more mature than Euryale.

I slowly walked up to them from behind. They didn't seem to notice me, which isn't really a surprise considering that the area was already surrounded by trees and I don't give any mystical energy.

"Then how did they come here?" Euryale asked. I decided to speak up.

"Maybe a bird brought them over as material for a nest? Or maybe the seeds were stuck on it's feathers?"

"Hmm... that actually sounds about right," Euryale hummed with a hand on her chin.

"We did have this flock birds pass by a while ago," Stheno commented as she knelt down and touched one the flowers. "Do you think there's more of these, 'me' and-" Both sisters seemed to freeze as they realised the voice was not one they heard before.

A part of me didn't believe I was going through this cliché scenario, but it was actually happening.

Stheno and Euryale slowly turned to look up at me with their pale purple eyes. "Hey there," I greeted with a wave of my hand.

Now, naturally, when someone see a talking tree monster that seemingly appeared out of nowhere standing behind them, there was only one sensible way for the sisters to react.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

Which is to scream their lungs out.
