"What are the guards supposed to do now?"
"Well, uh-"
"Parts of the city still need repairs. When will we continue working on them?"
"Uh, you see-"
"Elemental Zack! Most the crops are suddenly dying and the farmers are panicking. What do we do?"
It's been only a couple of days since Gilgamesh was gone, and in those days I learned something incredibly important: I can't manage to save my own life.
I was in the throne room while trying to manage the flow of people and requests. Siduri was also there but she just kept bringing in more stone tablets that are without a doubt filled with more requests and schedules.
I was standing in front of the throne with several of the guards that just passed the orders they heard on to me. I honestly didn't know what to do first and what to prioritise. I've never been one for politics.
"Alright, calm down," Enkidu said as he walked into the room. I looked at him and motioned to the guards around me, obviously asking for help, which made him smile.
"The guards should still continue their usual routine of patrols. No doubt that the wild life is still rattled by Gugalanna's attack. As such, we should stay vigilant for any incidents. The people are still getting over the incident, so the repairs will have to be held off a little in order to help the people settle back in. And, as for the crops, can I trust you to handle that, Zack?"
"Sure, no problem," I nodded at the last part while all the guards saluted before leaving to follow the orders.
When it was just me, Enkidu, and Siduri, I groaned loudly while my shoulders slumped. "Thanks for that. Politics are... not my specialty."
Enkidu chuckled. "It's fine. They're not my specialty either. I just acted in the way Gil usually acts when he actually does work," he said and then motioned to the pile of stone tablets.
"Me and Siduri can handle these. You handle the problem with the farms. The guards at the city gate should know where they are. Losing them will greatly effect Uruk's food supplies."
"Leave it to me," I changed to my wind element and flew out of the throne room, out of the castle, and into the skies over the city.
I headed towards the north gates of the city.
That's where the I usually saw off the carts to the farms. Landing near the gate, I looked around for one of the guards.
"Hey there. I heard about a problem with farms?" I said to the first guard I saw.
The guard nodded. "Yes, Elemental Zack," I began walking through the gate while I motioned for him to follow me. I was in a hurry, after all. "The farms all seem to die out no matter what soil or water people use. There's also a problem with getting to the city lately."
"Problem reaching the city?" I looked at the guard with a tilted head while we walked out of city. "Why would they have problems getting to-Woah!" I stopped myself from falling in whatever I couldn't see because I was looking at the guard.
Turns out what I almost fell in was a crater, a VERY large crater. It wasn't directly in front of the city but still close enough. It was obviously not natural, but the weird thing is that the entire crater, inside and around
it, was completely covered in plants. Flowers and vegetations. Green as far as the crater goes.
(That's... that's the crater my branch created when it exploded with Gugalanna's magical energy,) I realised, recognising the location of the crater.
I was confused on why so much life appeared where it was, but that's a question for later.
I awkwardly scratched the back of my neck and looked at the guard. "Yeah, I should... I should probably fix that, huh?"
