Nasiah was quite curious with Eden's response. It was true that he suspected that the man was going to attack him for those reasons, but in his mind, that's why they needed help the most.
"That's because they were suffering. They need the money to help them live and survive through the day."
Eden frowned at that, gesturing towards the alleyway. "They need that money for something else, something that they placed on themselves. Come."
She then walked towards the alley, carefully masking her footsteps as she spied on the man who ran away. Nasiah followed suit and peeked out to watch.
They both saw the raggedy man from earlier sit down with a bunch of other disheveled men, each one passing each other money and small, worn pouches.
Everyone from Nasiah to the guards watching over him realized what it was. They were possibly exchanging illegal substances.
