After getting the student council president's contact information, Kanda Shuichi slowly returned to the classroom. He had already eaten lunch earlier before coming back.
Looking at Horikita Manabu's contact on his phone, Kanda Shuichi remembered that Horikita Manabu had said only he knew this contact number in the entire first-year class. It was precious.
Kanda Shuichi thought he should find a chance to show off this contact number in front of Horikita Suzune.
That moment... wow... just imagining it makes it hard to think about. But he definitely had to bring Miyake along for this; otherwise, it might end in disaster.
When Kanda Shuichi got back to the classroom, Sudou was explaining the tape on his mouth to his friends.
"You guys don't understand! If it weren't for this tape, I might have said something wrong and been provoked by those C-class guys. This tape saved my life!"
"Your savior should be Kanda, right? You should thank him, Sudou-kun," said Kushida Kikyo, who had been listening to Sudou.
But her words clearly made Ike and Yamauchi unhappy. They already knew Sudou had put the tape on his mouth to provoke them.
And now Kushida was siding with Kanda Shuichi?
Of course, they wouldn't blame Kushida Kikyo, so they placed the blame entirely on Kanda Shuichi.
It was all Kanda Shuichi's fault for confusing the lovely little angel, Kushida!
Kanda Shuichi heard this but didn't care to respond. After all, these two were just his backup plan in case Sudou needed to be expelled. They were the type he would discard in an emergency, so why bother arguing with two dead weights?
"By the way, Sudou, you need to control your hands and mouth these days. No matter how much C-class provokes you, you have to hold back. If you get caught by a bystander or if your words get recorded, no one will be able to save you."
Using recordings as evidence, the C-class people might really try something like that, so Kanda Shuichi thought it was better to warn him in advance.
If Sudou couldn't control himself in this situation, then he would have to deal with the consequences. At that point, Kanda Shuichi would have to think carefully about whether he should even help him.
Although Kanda Shuichi didn't plan to hold Sudou responsible right now, it still boiled down to Sudou not being able to control his temper. He'd need to figure out a way to teach him some discipline, to smooth out his rough edges.
"Don't worry! For the next few days, I'll only go to class, eat, and sleep. I won't go anywhere else. I even stopped going to club activities on my own!"
Sudou vowed with determination, while Ike and Yamauchi muttered to themselves,
"It's just a lie, I can do that too."
However, They didn't have the courage to spread around what actually happened with Sudou's fight. If the secret got out and Class C found out, they'd probably miss out on the 9,000 private points for this month. Besides, everyone in class would hold a grudge against them afterward, and it just wouldn't be worth it.
So, Kanda Shuichi wasn't worried about them talking. Given the current situation, all of Class D was in the same boat.
After Class C's recent defeat, Kanda Shuichi was curious about what Ryuen would do next. Then the next day, he got his answer.
It was unclear if Ryuen ordered it himself or if it was a private move by some idiots, but they actually tried to bribe Class D students with private points to get them to testify against Sudou.
When Hirata came to discuss this with him, Kanda Shuichi nearly laughed. Considering Ryuen's skills, he figured this was just some desperate move by those fools in Class C.
"It's fine, as long as it doesn't come directly from Sudou's mouth. If they're offering points, we might as well take them, right? No matter the amount, take it all—lying a bit won't hurt us. Just make sure not to sign any binding contracts with them."
After passing along these instructions to Hirata, the students approached by Class C happily accepted the "special aid" offered to them. However, this only lasted for a day, it seemed Ryuen quickly realized what his foolish subordinates were doing.
But this also reminded Kanda Shuichi of something. When Chabashira-sensei announced in class that Sudou had fought, everyone was either shocked or seemed like they'd expected it from him.
However, apart from those reactions, there was one person who acted strangely. Sakura Airi just sat at her desk, unmoving, showing no surprise or any kind of "I knew it" reaction.
When Sudou stood up and denied it, she looked somewhat in disbelief, even sneaking a quick glance back. This one glance drew Kanda Shuichi's attention to her amid everyone else focusing on Sudou. Most of the class looked at Sudou with disbelief, but Sakura Airi looked almost as if she were questioning herself.
Sudou even mentioned sensing someone in the special teaching building that day. While he isn't the brightest, his senses are oddly sharp, so if someone was really there, it was most likely Sakura Airi.
Kanda Shuichi had noticed she often carried a camera…
if luck wasn't on their side, it might have evidence of the fight.
This was turning out badly.
Should he use this month's tech to check? No, it was too useful to waste here. Maybe he'd wait until the situation became truly irreversible.
"Kushida, you know what I mean, right?"
It wasn't long before Kanda Shuichi communicated his thoughts to Kushida. They'd find a chance to check Sakura Airi's camera, and if all else failed, destroy it. No mistakes could be allowed before the student council president announced their findings on Friday.
Kanda Shuichi also promised to cover any repair or replacement costs if the camera was damaged.
Sorry, Sakura, but you might have recorded something you shouldn't have.
"To be absolutely sure, I'll have to put you through a little trouble first, but I'll make it up to you later. Please don't hold it against me."
After silently apologizing to Sakura, Kanda Shuichi waited quietly for school to end.
Skipping club activities to buy ingredients, Kanda Shuichi quickly received a message from Kushida.
"Sakura seems to know something, but no matter what, she doesn't want me to check the contents of the camera."
Kanda Shuichi was surprised by this. Even with Kushida on the case, it was proving to be quite a challenge.
"Looks like there's no choice. I feel bad for Sakura, but for Class D's fate, she'll just have to bear with it for now."
Kanda Shuichi didn't really care about Class D's fate, but he couldn't exactly say he was doing this to save Sudou. Besides, it bothered him that someone else was using his own tactics without even giving him credit—and they weren't even doing it right! Putting all hope on the enemy making mistakes? Disgraceful, Ryuen. Is this really the best you've got?
"You're a ruthless man."
Seeing Kushida's message, Kanda Shuichi smirked.
"Ruthless? I'm the kindest guy in Class D."
