Synopsis
Houtarou Oreki was admitted to the Advanced Nurturing High School and assigned to Class A. With his keen insight, he quickly grasped the school's unique nature. Just as he was thinking it would be troublesome, he discovered a system where completing tasks could earn him superhuman abilities as rewards. Teleportation allowed him to return home and laze in bed anytime, while Transparency could erase his presence. This life seemed pretty good — very energy-efficient. Then he gained Telepathy. Arisu Sakayanagi: "This school is so boring, but Oreki-kun is interesting. I could 'play' with him a bit." Suzune Horikita: "Oreki, who doesn't study at all, still scores higher than me. I'm not working hard enough! I'll study for 16 hours today." Kei Karuizawa: "Houtarou, thank you for saving me in middle school. Please go out with me — with marriage in mind!" Kikyō Kushida: "Clothes can't retain fingerprints at all, so I gave myself away for nothing?!" **(⇀‸↼‶)** "..." Chapter 1 - Chapter 001 ↦ Houtarou Oreki, in Class A!

Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School.

Funded by the government, this prestigious institution boasts a 100% college admission and employment rate, along with free tuition. Yes, you read that correctly — free tuition. It's an unbelievable opportunity, making it the most coveted school in the eyes of students and parents alike.

April 1st marks the day for new students to enroll. A sea of fresh faces lines up in the gymnasium, organized by their assigned class order.

In the queue for Class A, a handsome young man with emerald eyes keenly observes his surroundings. He's already noticed several peculiarities.

For one, the opening ceremony itself is unusual. It's entirely hosted by the Student Council. The Council President, a bespectacled man with piercing eyes, delivers a brief yet powerful speech:

"Our school is an institution that excels in both academics and athletics, where strength is paramount. Your membership here is a testament to your abilities, which I somewhat acknowledge."

His words seem to revolve around the concept of "Strength", as if conveying a hidden message. A closer look reveals more anomalies.

Despite being an opening ceremony, not a single faculty member is present. There's no speech from the principal. The entire event is managed solely by the student council.

Is this another example of the "strength is paramount" principle the Student Council President emphasized?

It appears the school has delegated significant authority to its students, granting them a high degree of autonomy. As a result, the school has essentially become a stage for students to demonstrate their capabilities.

Clearly, this is no ordinary educational institution. Houtarou realized he had indeed stumbled into a rather challenging environment.

These were the conclusions he had drawn from his observations.

Houtarou Oreki, an 18-year-old first-year student, was assigned to Class A's queue.

Standing at the front of the boys' line in Class A, he had soft short hair, emerald green eyes, and refined features. His appearance easily caught the attention of some girls. He possessed notable academic abilities and insight.

Despite his qualities, Houtarou considered himself just an ordinary young man. He lived by the motto: "If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick". In essence, he aimed to conserve energy.

This school was different, but he didn't find the situation too daunting. His optimism stemmed from—

"Now, the new students will exit in the order of classes A, B, C, and D." Announced the Student Council President, setting down the microphone.

This information-loving president had just revealed something crucial.

Class A's top priority in the exit order implied its excellence. The caliber of Class A students was evidently high. While Houtarou had been deemed excellent to be placed here, he realized his 39 classmates must be equally, if not more, impressive.

Therefore, even if troublesome or difficult matters arose, there were 39 other excellent classmates to support them. After all, his classmates were undoubtedly exceptional.

With this reassuring thought, he followed the queue moving forward. Class A had initially lined up with girls in one line and boys in another, but when leaving, the two lines merged. The girls' line was now on his left side.

However, after walking just a few steps, he noticed someone's unsteady gait. Instinctively, he reached out and grasped their arm.

With a thud, a cane fell to the ground.

"Oh my, I'm sorry for troubling you." The person said in an extremely sweet and polite voice.

It was a girl with silver hair — and she was breathtakingly beautiful. Her skin was exceptionally fair, her eyes like jewels. With her cute face and lustrous silver hair that seemed to beg for a touch, she was undoubtedly the most adorable girl Houtarou had ever laid eyes on.

This classmate of his appeared quite petite. She wasn't very tall, and it seemed she relied on a cane to move slowly. Her body was likely in a fragile state.

He crouched down to retrieve the cane and handed it to her, trying his best to avoid staring at her face.

In truth, Houtarou had been skirting around this realization all along. While standing in the queue, he had already stumbled upon another incredible aspect of this school.

This school boasted an unusually high number of exceptionally attractive beauties. These weren't just your average pretty faces — they were the kind who would typically be considered the most beautiful in their class or even the entire school.

Houtarou, having attended school before, knew that such stunning beauties weren't usually as common as cabbages. Yet here, they seemed to be in abundance.

Class D, in particular, caught his attention — and apparently that of the student council president, who kept glancing in their direction. It was almost unbelievable, but there were at least ten girls with outstanding appearances in that class alone.

However, when it came to sheer cuteness, the silver-haired girl from his own class might just take the crown.

"My name is Arisu Sakayanagi." She introduced herself after taking the cane him handed to her. Gripping it, she seemed to regain some strength, "I've had poor health in the past, which limited my opportunities to go outside. Looking at my frail body now, I wonder if I'll be able to continue at this school. It's something I need to reconsider."

Houtarou's heart sank. This was indeed pitiful, and it raised some questions.

From what he'd gathered about the school's atmosphere and the student council president's words, Class A was clearly the top priority — the most excellent class. Arisu was part of this class.

This implied she must have received an excellent evaluation. But with her physical abilities being so limited, how did she secure a spot in Class A?

Then it dawned on him. If the evaluation criteria weren't based solely on academic or physical prowess, the school might have placed Arisu in Class A despite her physical limitations. This could only mean one thing: she must possess extraordinary strengths in other areas.

Her excellence in other areas must have outweighed her physical limitations. Could this mean she's actually a genius?

"Are you pitying me?" Arisu seemed adept at reading others' expressions.

Houtarou remained silent.

There was a hint of pity, but she might have misinterpreted his thoughts.

In reality, he was considering something else. The petite girl before him was undeniably cute and adorable. Despite her physical frailty, she was likely exceptionally intelligent.

If Class A faced any challenges or difficult situations in the future, Arisu would surely have the wisdom to handle them effectively. For Oreki, this scenario was the most energy-efficient.

As this thought crossed his mind—

〖 Arisu Sakayanagi is a T-Rex 〗

A prompt suddenly materialized in his consciousness.

〖 Arisu Sakayanagi is a T-Rex 〗

The prompt repeated twice more.

'??' Houtarou was speechless.

〖 To be precise, Arisu Sakayanagi has the same attack power as a T-Rex 〗

Oh, I see. But calling such a petite girl a T-Rex? Are you being polite?

Ding! Congratulations, host, for triggering this system. This is a Super Ability System. As long as the host completes the corresponding Tasks, you can receive Super Abilities as rewards! 〗

〖 The current task is— 〗

The system prompt continued to sound. At the same time, a blue screen appeared before Houtarou's eyes.

He looked towards Arisu, "Did you hear any sound? Or see anything strange?"

"Sound? And seeing something strange?" A trace of confusion passed through her clear pupils.

So she didn't hear or see anything. It must be that he was experiencing some kind of hallucination.

Considering that his class was still exiting the gymnasium, Houtarou began to move forward with the queue. But the system prompt in his mind had already fully displayed:

〖 Super Ability System 〗

〖 Choose one of two Tasks! 〗

〖 ① Take Arisu Sakayanagi's cane and play with the T-Rex while it's small! 〗

〖 ② Investigate this school and earn 200,000 Points! 〗

〖 Task Duration: 1 Day 〗

〖 Task Reward: Teleportation (3 times daily to previously visited locations) 〗

〖 Task Punishment: Your sister drops out of school to spend three days with you! 〗

"..."

From the task to the punishment, it was all quite devilish.
