Chapter 70 - Chapter 70: You say I hit you, so where’s your proof?

At the end of the day, this was a one-sided accusation from Class C. As long as Sudou doesn't admit it, they'll have to present evidence, and there are no cameras to catch anything. They'll need to find some solid proof.

So the key here was Sudou. As long as he can hold out and refuse to admit anything, there's nothing the other side can do.

As for the evidence, they can try to find it, and once they do, we'll figure out what to do next.

Because according to Sudou's version, his actions definitely had issues.

No matter how it started, the fact is that the other side got injured, and that injury was caused by Sudou. That fact alone was enough to get Sudou punished.

Even if the other side struck first, at most it would only drag them both down, resulting in mutual harm.

But now, Sudou's refusal to admit anything is making this a lot simpler.

Cause and effect. If you deny the cause, there's no effect. Now that Kanda is having Sudou completely deny the cause, where's the effect going to come from?

At the same time, Kanda Shuichi was also curious as to why the other side went after Sudou.

"By the way, why do you think they're targeting you?"

"Well, it's probably because of the basketball club. The advisor-sensei told me they want to include me as an official player for the summer tournament."

Official player? This surprised Kanda Shuichi a bit. This school's basketball club may not be the top in the country, but it's a regular at national tournaments. Sudou becoming an official player in his first year was proof of his skills and effort.

"Congratulations then. But that clears up the reason. I heard from Chabashira-sensei that members who perform well in the club can get rewards, so they're probably after that."

After discussing for a few more minutes, they decided to stick with their original plan: Sudou would absolutely not admit to hitting anyone.

If there was no evidence and the rumors kept spreading, Sudou wouldn't hold back—he would go straight to the student council to complain about them damaging his reputation.

After all, spreading rumors is a form of bullying, and the student council would definitely take action.

If they really did find evidence that Sudou hit them, it wouldn't matter. Kanda Shuichi would teach them a lesson again, and at worst, he could use the new tech released in June.

The only problem with that was the tech was a bit bulky, and once it was picked up, it would be hard to hide.

Ryuen, copying my skills comes at a cost. Do you think you're Kakashi?

At this point, Kanda Shuichi had to admit that the June release of new technology was incredibly timely.

Of course, Kanda Shuichi could just use the tech to solve the problem directly, but that wouldn't be much fun, would it?

The most satisfying thing for Kanda Shuichi would be to strike when they were at their most confident.

The next day, Class D's private points still hadn't been issued, but today Chabashira-sensei had some updates to share.

"I have something to report to you all. A few days ago, there was a bit of a dispute at school. It seems Sudou, sitting over there, had a conflict with some students from Class C. To put it simply, they got into a fight."

"I didn't fight! They're just making things up!"

Since getting Kanda Shuichi's advice, Sudou had become more and more confident in denying things.

But the way he was so certain, was he convincing himself?

"You've all seen the situation. The students from Class C say Sudou beat them up, but Sudou insists he didn't. The special classroom building where it happened doesn't have any surveillance cameras, so the matter is at a standstill."

However, most of the class didn't buy this story, because they all thought Sudou was the type to get into fights.

He had caused quite a bit of negative impact in the past couple of months, so many people weren't willing to believe him.

"I believe in Sudou. But what happens if it drags on like this?"

Hirata Yosuke chose to trust his classmate, but was also keeping an eye on how things progressed.

"Since it was a complaint from Class C, it's up to them to provide evidence. The school has given Class C one week. If they can't find evidence, it will be considered false accusation."

At this point, Chabashira Sae instinctively glanced at Kanda Shuichi.

This guy is really despicable.

"So, we just have to get through this week, right?"

"If Sudou really didn't get into a fight, then yes, but if Sudou lied, the investigation will continue."

Even though that was said, most of the students in the class glanced at Sudou, clearly not believing him.

But even so, they couldn't just force Sudou to confess. If they did, the class points they had worked so hard to earn would be reset to zero.

Just look at what happened when Kanda Shuichi got beaten earlier—Class A deducted 200 points, and now they only have a pitiful 90 points.

"By the way, Class C wants to confront this issue during lunch break, so Sudou, you need to go to the student council."

Hearing this, Sudou started to get nervous. Yesterday, he could bluff his way through when facing the school, but facing those three guys would be much harder.

Noticing Sudou's anxiety, Kanda Shuichi raised his hand.

"Chabashira-sensei, Sudou has entrusted me as his full representative for this matter. Can I go with him?"

"Yes, that's right. I've handed everything over to Kanda."

Kanda Shuichi's intervention really touched Sudou, who immediately followed along with his words.

"In that case, after school, you two will come with me to the classroom for the student council."

Soon, it was time for lunch break, and before heading to the student council, Kanda Shuichi bought a roll of tape.

"Kanda, what are you doing with the tape?"

Sudou was confused.

"Of course, it's to tape your mouth shut. If you end up saying something stupid, it'll be troublesome."

Sudou was left speechless. To be honest, he wasn't confident either. If he got provoked and couldn't hold back, it would prove he was lying the whole time, right?

Kanda Shuichi, having watched plenty of Detective Conan episodes, knew that people tend to slip up when they're tricked. He wasn't going to let that happen to Sudou.

So Kanda Shuichi decided to solve the problem right at the source—by sealing Sudou's mouth.

When the time came, all Kanda Shuichi needed to do was firmly deny that Sudou knew anything.

Even if they brought up the details of Sudou beating them, it wouldn't matter, because Kanda Shuichi really didn't know any details.

"Squat down."

"Oh."

Kanda Shuichi found Sudou's sudden obedience strange. When had this guy become so cooperative?

But he quickly taped Sudou's mouth up tightly, making sure he couldn't say a word, and then nodded with satisfaction.
