Eclair was baffled by what he was seeing, two boys from his memory, dressed similarly to his era.
An oversized shirt along with long pants and some sneakers, one wears a hoody and a cap with a skateboard. The two were chatting under a bridge Eclair had no idea where.
"Yo, you gotta read this, man. A new volume of ### came out."
"You know I don't read things like that David, anime or whatever is for suckers."
"Oh fuck you, Leonel, everyone watches anime these days!"
"Tsk tsk tsk." David shakes his head like a disappointed parent.
"Bah! Just read shit besides, when you open manga or watch an anime you only like the fan service and shit."
"The fuck is a fanservice?!" David protested.
"I uh…" Leonel felt sweat run down his face.
"I don't know what fetish you have but don't wipe that on me," David said in disgust.
"Wha- no! Damnit, David! Just read it, it's like uhh… hunter y hunter I swear!"
David narrowed his eyes at Leonel but he sighed in surrender "Alright, but if the first volume is shit I'm dropping."
"Fine, Oh also, the manga adaptation is shit, I only have the novel."
"Good enough for me, I like books."
Eclair listened to the conversation for a bit, then suddenly his hearing started to go numb as he continued to watch. Soon, the environment started to swirl in a mess of lines and colours till he was hit with an influx of memories.
He felt his life revolve around David, from his perspective at most. He went to school, fell in love, got his first heartbreak, went to a university, graduated and worked then died from an earthquake.
He lived a full life and Eclair watched it all. Once he woke up it felt like he exited the movie theatre after watching a movie.
"What…"
Instinctively, he knew it was his past life. But first of all. What was that crystal that he ate? He suddenly remembered his past life, but that's not the biggest problem.
"This world is in danger…"
Eclair couldn't help but utter out of his mouth, that the world would be plunged into war after one of the countries found the Ring of Solomon and summoned the Greater Demons that was sealed a thousand years ago.
"Shit! I should've read more of that in my past life!"
Eclair and David's past lives are no different, both like to hold books in their hands and most of the time get lost in it. Immersed in the world of words, however, Eclair is not eager to compare them in full.
David's life ended in tragedy, Eclair didn't want to have his end go similarly, especially since the tragedy here could be far worse.
Especially since he read the novel up to chapter 226 where the official translation is, he didn't know more since the translator got sick and didn't dig further to read the rest of the chapters.
By then, David was already in college. Eclair soon grasped his head in despair, in the light novel his family, the Rosvault, is more ambitious than he thought.
The family was ambitious enough to think that they could assassinate the Emperor and gain control through a puppet, but their scheme ended when the main character got roped in.
Now that Eclair thinks about it, he hasn't seen the Main character yet which is good on his part, after all, the main characters are trouble magnets, something Eclar cannot live with.
Also, in terms of Ego, Eclair is more dominant as he only remembers the memories he had in his past life but he relates more to the current life. Despite that, however, he liked the dream that David had.
"To taste every food in the world."
Eclair softly spoke, it felt natural, as if it was his dream too, suddenly, the image of his mother appeared, and although blurry he still had that nostalgic feeling.
He remembered the time when his mother cooked, it was a dish with a creamy texture, it was sweet and filled his stomach, it was back in their village.
Maybe he should visit that village when he has the chance.
But first, Eclair had to do something about his state. Unlike before, when he only knew the Omi affinity type, Omi Disciplines, what not and what to do when it comes to making an Art. Now he knows more.
Omi output, Omi dual affinities and higher disciplines, Eclair learned so much just because his world is a light novel that was recommended for David.
To make sure he doesn't get assassinated by his own cruel family and to achieve his dream, he has to make sure he graduates from the academy, turning him into a Junior Sorcerer, that way his family wouldn't be able to carelessly touch him.
After all, Sorcerers are a valuable resource of the Known World, they fight against Demons and Monsters alike, without Sorcerers there would be nothing against these threats at all and humanity is doomed.
If Eclair successfully graduates, then he will be able to join the Sorcerer Association, get his card and get protection from the association, privileges of Sorcerers are equal to nobles.
After all, despite hundreds of applicants to the academy every year, only a selected few ever become a Sorcerer, in fact, the amount of Sorcerers in the Known World, according to the light novel, is below a thousand.
Eclair thought carefully, the problem with him right now is his Omi output. Most applicants in the academy are expected to have 12% Omi output. The Omi Output is how much someone can invest in their Technique or Art at any given time.
Of course, one could train to have their output get higher, however, Eclair's Output was about 7% in their last evaluation exam, which was 5% lower than average.
This was the worst of his situation, considering that before reaching the second year, students are expected to have already formed their Art. something Eclair hasn't made yet.
To make it even worse, there is an entrance ceremony at the academy that Eclair has to perform since it is an evaluation test and would determine if he could still attend the 2nd year.
