Chapter 135: Why Is This Child So Weird?
In Spirit Hall, Bibi Dong, deep in her cultivation, noticed that the "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary" had updated. She opened it, her brows furrowing as she read.
"Soul-Sealing Seal? A technique capable of sealing one's martial soul and soul power so completely that even Titled Douluos can't detect it?"
The ability intrigued her, but she struggled to understand its purpose. "Why would someone use this? What's its practical value?"
Her thoughts shifted to Ah Yin. Until now, she had never sensed any martial soul or soul power aura from her sister-in-law. At first, she assumed Ah Yin's martial soul was weak—perhaps so insignificant it hadn't even reached Level Ten.
But reflecting now, something felt off. "How could I sense nothing at all unless her martial soul hasn't awakened? But that's impossible."
Ah Yin was Zhao Ling's wife—a Titled Douluo wouldn't fall in love with someone whose martial soul hadn't even awakened. This meant only one thing: Zhao Ling must have used the Soul-Sealing Seal on Ah Yin.
Why? Bibi Dong considered two possibilities.
The first was that Ah Yin's martial soul was indeed weak, and Zhao Ling didn't want others to discover her poor aptitude.
The second, and more likely explanation, was that Ah Yin's martial soul was exceptionally powerful—so strong it could incite jealousy and danger. To protect her, Zhao Ling sealed it.
Whichever the case, Bibi Dong felt a pang of urgency. "I can't let Sister Ah Yin get too far ahead of me. I need to work harder."
Meanwhile, in the Ten Thousand Year Soul Beast area of the Star Dou Great Forest, a pink rabbit sat comfortably in the arms of a beautiful young woman, nibbling on a carrot.
The rabbit wiggled its ears, its red eyes fixed on a "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary" hovering half a meter away.
It tilted its head curiously, glancing at the woman holding it. "Why can't Mom see this weird notebook?"
The notebook was clearly there, yet the young woman appeared oblivious to its presence. The rabbit thought back to yesterday. When its mother returned home, it had tried to ask her about the terms it read—"great-grandson's wife," "great-great-grandson's wife," and the "Silver Dragon King."
But no matter how hard it tried, the words wouldn't come out. It strained and sweated, its frustration mounting, yet it couldn't speak of the diary's contents.
Its mother, mistaking its agitation for excitement, had handed it a carrot, which only deepened its exasperation.
Now, as its mother smiled down at it, the rabbit's confusion grew. "She really can't see it," it realized. Resolving to investigate further, the rabbit focused its mind on opening the diary.
Immediately, the familiar magnetic male voice began to narrate.
Startled, the rabbit twitched its ears. "Mom, what's that sound?" it asked.
The young woman looked down, puzzled. "What sound, Xiao Wu? Why are you acting so strangely?"
The rabbit froze. "She really can't hear it," it thought, its little heart sinking. "The diary's contents and the man's voice are only visible and audible to me."
A wave of frustration swept over it. "What's the point? I can't read the diary, and I'll forget most of the voice's words. Ugh, it's so annoying!"
The rabbit's hind legs stopped kicking, its ears drooping as it fell into a sullen silence. But even in its dejected state, it continued to listen intently to the man's words.
As the narration unfolded, the rabbit learned more about the Soul-Sealing Seal. It could mask martial souls and soul power completely, making the sealed person appear like an ordinary human.
"Could this technique work on me after I transform into human form?" it wondered.
Its mother had often emphasized the importance of blending into the human world for safety. Within ten to twenty years, it would have to take on a human form. But with Titled Douluos capable of identifying transformed soul beasts, the risk of exposure was ever-present.
If it could use the Soul-Sealing Seal, it might be able to hide its true identity. Neither it nor its mother would have to fear greedy humans who sought their soul rings and bones.
But there was one problem: the rabbit had no idea how to perform the seal. Only the owner of the diary—the mysterious Zhao Ling—possessed this ability.
Frustrated, the rabbit leapt from its mother's lap and began hopping angrily around the room. Its mother, baffled, could only watch as it stomped and jumped in agitation.
"What's wrong with this child?" she murmured. "Why is she acting so strange? Could there be something wrong with her?"
Shaking her head, the young woman decided not to dwell on it. She had to leave and search for food.
"Xiao Wu," she said gently, "Mom is going out to find food. Stay home and don't wander off, alright?"
With that, she picked up her basket and left the house. But the rabbit—Xiao Wu—continued hopping around, seething with frustration.
"Damn it!" it fumed. "Why can humans use such techniques while I can't? If I had this ability, I could transform and live safely among humans with my mother!"
Far away, in the Great Evil Land, the "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary" appeared once again, this time inside the cavern where the Silver Dragon King slept.
The sudden appearance of the diary roused the dragon from its slumber. Annoyed, it muttered, "Can you not disturb my sleep? Unless you've got a way to help me recover my strength faster."
In an instant, the diary vanished.
The Silver Dragon King snorted. "Figures. The moment I ask for something useful, it disappears. Useless thing."
Stretching its massive body, the dragon settled back into its resting place. Recovering its strength remained its top priority, and it had no time to waste on pointless distractions.
