Chapter 136: This Is So Unfair
After waiting at home all day for her father to return, Liu Erlong finally gave up. She left a note on the dining table, secured under a bowl, stating that she was returning to school and would remain there for the foreseeable future.
The note added that she would only come home if something important arose.
Currently, Liu Erlong's soul power level was between 36 and 37, still far from reaching level 40. As such, she had not yet graduated. Leaving home under the pretext of school was the most reasonable excuse.
Whether she actually intended to stay at school, however, was another matter.
Liu Erlong had already mastered most of the basic knowledge offered at her academy. She felt that spending time at school was far less appealing than being with someone she liked.
Additionally, her school was lenient and far less prestigious than the Tiandou Royal Academy. Her teachers didn't press her to advance; reaching level 40 and graduating was entirely up to her.
At just 15 years old, having reached level 36 or 37, Liu Erlong's aptitude was already outstanding. Even by Tiandou Royal Academy's standards, she was considered highly gifted. None of her teachers dared to reprimand or restrict her.
After leaving the note, Liu Erlong didn't look back as she departed her home. Since her mother's passing, the house had lost its warmth. Her father, preoccupied with his family in the Blue Lightning Tyrannosaurus Rex Clan, only occasionally visited out of concern for her solitude.
But Liu Erlong no longer felt alone. She now had someone she liked, and she knew he reciprocated her feelings.
Moreover, she had newfound sisters—women with whom she could share her thoughts and have fun. Naturally, she preferred living at Zhao Ling's mansion over staying in an empty home.
That evening, Liu Erlong returned to Zhao Ling's residence, placing her belongings in her room before eagerly heading to the courtyard where they had played mahjong.
To her surprise, she found only Ah Yin there, playing chess by herself.
As soon as their eyes met, Liu Erlong noticed something unusual about Ah Yin. A subtle, dangerous aura radiated from her that hadn't been there before.
Though Liu Erlong's strength was far inferior to Ah Yin's, her instincts remained sharp.
"Why does Sister Yin'er feel so different?" she wondered. "I've never sensed martial soul or soul power from her before. Could it be…?"
Her thoughts turned to the "Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary," and realization dawned.
"So Sister Yin'er's martial soul and soul power had been sealed by Brother Ling! That explains it."
Curious, she asked cautiously, "Sister Yin'er, what's your soul power level? You feel… dangerous."
Ah Yin, focused on her chess game, looked up with a warm smile. Her tone was noticeably more affectionate.
"Sister Long'er, you're back? Come, sit down and play the next game with me."
The sudden intimacy in Ah Yin's words startled Liu Erlong. She felt flattered yet confused—why was Sister Yin'er being so close?
Still, her curiosity persisted. "Sister Yin'er, you didn't answer my question. What's your soul power level? If you don't tell me, I'm not playing chess with you!"
Ah Yin chuckled at Liu Erlong's playful determination. Knowing the younger girl wouldn't focus without an answer, she replied gently, "Level 53. Not bad, right?"
"What? Level 53?" Liu Erlong's eyes widened in disbelief. "Sister Yin'er is only a year or two older than me… How is her soul power so high?"
A wave of frustration washed over her. The gap between them felt insurmountable.
Noticing Liu Erlong's disappointment, Ah Yin reached out to gently ruffle her hair.
"Sister Long'er," she said kindly, "you don't need to feel discouraged. My soul power level is thanks to my husband's help."
Liu Erlong froze. "Brother Ling helped her? Does that mean… doing that with Brother Ling improves soul power?!"
Her cheeks turned red as her thoughts wandered.
Seeing her expression, Ah Yin smirked and lightly flicked Liu Erlong's forehead. "Don't let your imagination run wild. What I mean is that my husband gave me something called an Immortal Herb."
She continued, "After consuming it, my soul power and aptitude improved drastically. That's how I reached level 53 so quickly and without side effects. Actually, my husband has more Immortal Herbs. You should ask him for one—he definitely won't refuse."
"An Immortal Herb? That effective?" Liu Erlong's jaw dropped. She had never heard of anything that could enhance soul power so significantly without drawbacks.
Her lips pursed thoughtfully. "Where is Brother Ling now? Did he go shopping with Sister Saixi and hasn't returned yet?"
Ah Yin's smile turned mischievous as she pointed toward Bo Saixi's room. "If you want to know, go stand outside Sister Saixi's room and listen."
Liu Erlong blinked, confused, before heading toward Bo Saixi's room.
Five minutes later, she returned to the courtyard, her face flushed with anger.
Ah Yin stifled a laugh behind her hand. "Sister Long'er, I told you to hurry up. My husband may be a beast, but he's undeniably charming. See? Sister Saixi, who met him after you, has already shared his bed. If you don't act quickly, someone else might beat you to it!"
"Hmph!" Liu Erlong huffed, crossing her arms. "I didn't think Brother Ling would be so impatient. He really is a beast."
Frustration bubbled inside her. "I was the third person to meet him. Shouldn't I be his third woman? This is so unfair!"
Determined, she muttered to herself, "I won't let that bad guy keep ignoring me. If I don't act now, I'll lose my place entirely."
An hour later, Butler Qian arrived to summon Ah Yin and Liu Erlong for dinner.
Liu Erlong glanced toward Bo Saixi's room. "Let's wait for them. We don't want them eating leftovers."
Ah Yin, grinning, grabbed Liu Erlong's hand and led her to the dining hall.
"What are you waiting for? It'll be a miracle if my husband leaves Sister Saixi's room by tomorrow morning. As for Sister Saixi… well, haha."
Liu Erlong frowned. "What does that laugh mean? Why does it sound so ominous?"
